I am so thankful of my father. I am 27 now and I was like 7 or 8 years old when he introduced them to me. Robin is my bias and this song is my favorite of all time.
How good to read this, I also thank your Father for teaching you the taste for good music, I am 32 and I have been listening to them since I was 8 years old. I love Bee Gees.
This has to be the best video of the Bee Gees that I have ever heard!!!❤❤❤ Thank you so very much to the person that put this together for us. I will be watching it all of the time forever, and ever!😅
I’m 61.. and the Bee Gees for me were a subject of ridicule for your typical Led Zep and Deep Purple fan when I was growing up.. with their tight clothes, and high voices.. but time has made me see how great they really were, in terms of their ability in their performances .. and their importance in the whole scheme of things.. best of luck to you Barry, and long may you live buddy! 🤗
Listening in 2024! So good live- before Barry went all falsetto and left that to Maurice. Funky guitar chord driven progression- with some Wah - Wah pedal, this funky song moves and grooves!
In 1975, Maurice and Robin were 25:years old and Barry was 28 years old, and they had already gone through a “has been” stage, in the early 70’s. Their resurgence was greater than their earlier fame. Goes to prove that talent and hard work will always win through.
@@olivas91 I am a huge fan of each one of them. Since the early 1970's. My thoughts and prayers are with Maurice, Robin and Andy Gibbs. I always think of Barry Gibbs , my heart goes out for Barry and entire family.
Their ambition to make a complex, heavily arranged composition with beautiful harmonies in an era dominated by punk and soft rock remains a stunning achievement. Salute!
I’m 27 and I grew up with the beegees, The Beach Boys, Daryl hall and John oats, Phil collins, the Beatles, journey, queen, MJ, ect thanks to my father ❤
Desde criança ná década de 70 ( tenho 52 anos ) eu já ouvia os Bee Gees e aprendi a amá-los influenciada pelos meus irmãos mais velhos que são fã deles ❤❤
This is the rawest live performance i have ever heard from Bee Gees. Its proof they performed live even in places where most lip sync. I absolutely love that this is far from perfect. It makes them so human.
I'm 71, and yes, I grew up with the Beatles, Bee Gees, Beach Boys, The Who, Janis Joplin, Hendrix, Stones, Cream, a variable buffet of early 60's rock like Pet Clark, The Supremes, The Temptations, through the protest years in Vietnam. I graduated high school in '71 just when CSN&Y, Guess Who, Yes, Cat Stevens, Jethro Tull, McCartney, George Harrison, Lennon, Badfinger, and Carole King and everybody started to take off! We had the greatest music every made!!! I still love the BeeGees, they rock! THANK YOU for posting this, it takes me back to my glory days!!! ROCK ON EVERYBODY!!!!!
Agreed..I believe MO was the first to use falsetto on "Nights on Broadway but Barry was given the credit for his falsetto afterwards. His was great as well.
It really wasn't like that, when they were in the studio the idea came to Barry, but when they played this song live, Maurice supported Barry with the falsetto since Barry was singing the chorus. Either way they are spectacular
I couldn’t figure that out until I listened again 3X. So sad we lost Maurice so young. Another brilliant BeeGee I just went on eBay and bought the greatest hits CD for my car. ❤️❤️❤️
My God.....................................................Robin..............Maurice........................Barry in complete plenty.........................
This is the song that introduced the Bee Gees (and eventually their fans) to Barry's famous falsetto that dominated the charts for some time after. Yet it's not a falsetto-dominated song, and here Barry seems to be letting his little brother Maurice handle the high parts (which he's doing rather well.)
Underrated?!?! You made my day! Or is there a new definition of this word that I overlooked? He never sang the lead, but he wrote the songs with Barry and arranged the harmonies and never missed anything. He was the power station of them!
@@paolodechipiece1027 The Beach Boys theme was west coast USA mainly and was a mix of cousins and friends. The BGs were all family with a universal theme.
Lol! You mean Elaine dancing like Robin. I've noticed his dance moves in several videos now and thought of Elaine. Some videos with his long hair he looked like a woman. He looks so much better here with his shorter hair and highlights. It's like night and day so much better.
@@stephenstone8480 Of course without a doubt. It is a group that had a lot of focus and that only played rock and roll or commercial pop/rock. And of course the most famous, Probably the most influential, that even the Gibbs played their songs, But have you heard of the Bee Gees? good. It is a very underrated group that was not only framed in one genre. Because they had the ability to do many more things with their arrangements, ideas and music.
Excelente puesta en escenario, con mucha calidad el sonido para haberse producido en vivo. Derroche de energía y alegría mientras la música se desprende de los instrumentos musicales y las voces. Todo un exitazoesta canción !!!!
One of the best televised live performances of all time. I've watched it many times over the years, and I'm thrilled every time, particuarly Maurice's effortless falsetto towards the end.
I totally agree with you. I'm 59 and loved the Bee Gees a couple years later when Saturday Night Fever came out and became HUGE. This performance though is special. I've never seen Barry so focused; and as you said, one of the best live televised performances.
I had the privilege of seeing the Bee Gees on my 18th birthday in 1977. I had just lost my Dad 6 months ago and the concert lifted my spirits more then they will ever know. I was so in love with Barry and he delivered pure perfection with his brothers. This is actually one of my favorite songs. ❤❤❤. What a great way to celebrate 18 trips around the world!!!. Love you Patty
@@olivas91 I went to that concert with my heart ripped into pieces. For the 3 hours they performed, I was transformed by seeing my idols. The grief took a back seat for those few hours. 1977 will always be the worst of times mixed with some of the best of times. The Bee Gees were certainly a highlight of such a devastating year. I'm 64 now and the memory of that night is still sweet and magical. ❤️😍❤️
Wow, reading your words I can imagine how difficult it was for you, but I'm also glad you were able to dull the pain for that moment by hearing the Bee Gees live, that's a once in a lifetime thing. And although we will never forget our loved ones, I am sure he enjoyed knowing that you were there.
@@olivas91 thank you so much for your kind words and compassion. And thanks for posting the Bee Gees singing my favorite song. Grief is just the price we pay for great love ❤️❤️. You are such a sweetheart.
Love how Barry's always facing the band at the start of a song, showing respect to them. He did the same thing during their Spirits Having Flown tour & so many concerts....kinda like, okay guys are we all on the same page with this?!!🎶
I'm 60, and when I was 20 I was ashamed to admit that I secretly liked the BGs. My son asked once, "is that the Chipmunks" on the radio? Long live this music and time
Greetings friend, I have read comments from several people that happened to them just like it did to you. But they had nothing to be ashamed of, they were listening to the best. I'm 32 and I've been listening to them since I was 9 years old.
I'm 58 and never admitted to my friends back in the 70s how much I liked the Bee Gees. We were all in to Zeppelin, Rush, Rolling Stones, Heart and so many other rock n roll bands. I just wonder how many of my friends also liked excellent music liked the Bee Gees, ABBA and so many other incredible music talents of the time. Boy I sure miss those days!
@@larryd9068 Those were the best days for music, and I suppose that like you, there were many who had that taste hidden out of fear of being judged. But really the Bee Gees are too good, without fear of being wrong much better than the ones you mentioned
Still really enjoy The Bee Gees 50 years later. The older I get the better I like them. They were unique and had a one of a kind harmony sound.❤Timeless.Sorry that Barry is alone now
I was honored to experience their music as it was being released. They were amazingly talented. They transitioned superbly through the disco era. Plus, they wrote some great music for other artists like Dolly Parton, Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick and others. There will never be another trio like them. Amazing. ❤
This is NOT disco. Always my favorite Bee Gees track. The perfect use of Robin’s vibrato style. If this is really live, that’s commendable for 1975. Even the bridge is brilliant. I didn’t realize Maurice was the high vocal at the end.
geoegeorr1042 - How old are you ? Were you alive when this song was new ? To say this isn't disco is just a far fetched saying , the '70 ' s were transitioning in to a disco sound and this is a fine example of it !
