There's another significant difference between a company and a country. The most important thing for a company is profit but for a country it is the well-being of its citizens.
Yes. And not profit for the employees, but profit for the shareholders - almost none of whom are employees. Employees only get a remuneration for helping stakeholders reach the goal. They can get fired if they fail. You can’t fire a citizen, who themselves are stakeholders of a country.
And in a company the shareholders own the company not the employees, if an employee wants to leave they can but in dictatorship, they own the whole country even the people and nobody has the right to leave or call out the atrocities of a dictator.

The worst thing about not reading enough is that you are not forming an opinion you can call your own. You can not outsource reading or research to somebody and form your opinion. People these days are increasingly taking this shortcut. Some are even worse; they form their opinion first based on their biases; and then they look for videos/talks on the Internet where someone "knowledgeable" is saying something which confirms their biases. I actually used to watch @theranveershow. Then slowly certain idiotic patterns started emerging - 1. Every podcast he would literally say, “ I don’t know, but in my opinion.”, hundred times. 2. 50% of his guest are world renowned scientist, thinkers, lawyers whom no one has ever heard of and have expertise in geo politics, aliens, ghosts and depression. 3. Most of the guests are conspiracy theorists, repeating the usual idiotic monologue on Gandhi, Nehru and Aurangzeb. 3. This one is Gold - while I was pursuing my engineering ( most probably paid seat) I was confused about what to do with my life and was depressed. So my Dad decided to take me on a Vacation to Maldives, where in I had Ayahuasca and that gave me great clarity and then I was happy. Privileged and Delusional level infinity

@mithilbhoras5951 ....the so-called secularism in Bharat is pushed on only Sanatanis (Hindus) to decouple them from their roots, so they can be prepared for conversions a few generations down the line. @@lakshyavarshney9942 yeah I'll tell you what you don't understand. You don't seem to realise what's happening on the ground level in the name of urbanization and beautification of cities, probably because you're only reading about it and are disconnected from the ground reality. In every major city, projects of beautification are undergoing, cities like Patna(and other tier 2 and tier 3 cities) now have under-construction metro projects and whatnot. But the darker side of this is that these cities have been divided into two parts; one part sees all the development, better roads, buildings, waste management, drains, better transportation options but the other part is completely neglected. So currently the north part of the country is seeing the worst rainfall this year and who do you think is the most affected by this. My whole point is that the current government may seem to be involved in a lot of projects in some part of the city, but the major working class population of these cities that cannot afford to live in these urbanized smart cities with green and blue projects are facing worst times than before. And with the rural population moving to the cities more and more with each passing day in search of jobs, these neglected areas of the cities with slums and lower middle class population is facing the worst brunt of it.
@@lakshyavarshney9942 and just wanted to add a suggestion bro, don't look up to the west, the whole point I've made above applies to them too, they also have big cities and buildings touching moons but in those same cities the working class people are struggling to survive. How do you measure how great a city is, with it's big buildings and other infrastructures or should you measure it by the ease of life of people belonging to every social class of that particular society.

The reason a country cannot be run like a company is because a private company or corporation exists to create profit for the stakeholders /shareholders (and the bigger the stake your have in the company, the bigger the say you have on how you get to run it). Most employees are generally not stakeholders of a company - some may buy shares of it, but they are generally not large amounts compared to a VC. In a country, it is not like that. Every citizen is a stakeholder with equal say in how the country should be run within the framework of the constitution. In a company, you can fire an employee who doesn’t align with the vision of the company because he does not automatically have a “right to be exist inside a company no matter what”. you can’t fire a person from a country just because their vision doesn’t align with yours or the majority’s. The end goal for the existence of a company and a country are just completely unrelated.
I will say you’re a very smart man/woman 👍👍👍 who has good knowledge and knows how to make it easy to understand. Like seriously get into politics, people need a person like you
Just because someone is knowledgeable doesn't mean he will take the right decisions for the nation. Knowlegeable people can be corrupt, they could abuse human rights etc.. Absolute power corrupts! A lesson, I think nature is willing to teach people again if they don't learn from the vast history of the world. Also the Vedic political system is top down. That is, the people at the top Brahmins and kings are heavily restricted in what they can and cannot do, while people at the bottom are free to indulge in their desires. Also these kings and people at the top are taught the Vedas from a young age, like the Quran and Hadiz is taught to Muslims. According to our Shastras not anybody can be king! I would expect nothing more from a fan of his holiness Nithyananda Saraswati. But these naive people who thinks these people have a point because they don't know how to think for themselves is definitely a cause for worry.

Great podcast. Just one addition. When referring to "Presidents rule", Rajiv clearly has a presidential system in mind along the lines of Russia/Turkey.... especially Turkey. He's not talking about the president's role in a parliamentary system. Take Turkey's example. Was a parliamentary democracy till 2017. Erdogan as the PM, ruled with majorities from 2003-2014. Turkey had a similar nominal president till then. He stepped down as the PM in 2014, got elected as the President (even the nominal president was directly elected since 2007). He started ruling through his desired PM. Then his party lost majority for a while in 2015. The guy has to ally with a far right party in a coalition. Then the 2016 coup attempt followed. Riding a wave of nationalism in response, Erdogan got a referendum through, turning Turkey from a parliamentary to a presidential system. He won the presidential elections in 2018. Since then, the parliament has been a rubber stamp. That's what he's probably pulling at. Essentially, the guy removed even the minimum guardrails on his rule by pivoting turkey towards a presidential system. The opposition in the recent elections called for a return to the parliamentary system but failed to dislodge him.
There are two things I'd like to point out as to why a country CANNOT be run like a company or the army. 1. The desired OUTCOME of running a company and running a contry is fundamentally different. You run a company to generate profit for the shareholders and you expect armies to achieve an objective which is more often than not killing your enemies. You run a contry to ensure the livelihood of your citizens and their wellbeing, if you run a country to fulfill the objectives of a company then that essentially becomes EAST INDIA COMPANY rule. You extort the citizens 2. Even the CEOs and Army Generals are chosen based on skills and merit. What Mr. Malhotra is asking is wishful thinking that the dictator would be a very nice and caring person who'll have nothing but the citizens' wellbeing in mind without being selfish.
Actually, I feel that a country should be run like a company, in the sense policy and decision making and its execution must be handled with the efficiency at which such events happen in a company. To some extent we see this efficiency in the current government, although it can be way better, but decisions regarding a lot of pending issues are being taken quickly, whereas in the previous government's time they would only talk but take no action and thus showed no accountability to the citizens that elected them. Because when decision and policy making and their execution is delayed, the elected officials are basically stealing the yrs of advancement and progress from their citizens, especially when such decisions are related to infrastructure, development, research, manufacturing and etc. Also profit in this case will be the revenue generated by the government which should also technically increase if you want to be able to spend more on infrastructure, research, subsidies, pension and etc.
1. Rajiv Malhotra is not a Brahmin, he is a Khatri(Kshatriya) 2. The argument that its not fair to let everyone vote or at least every vote os equal is not Rajiv’s original thesis. Its the classic Plato vs Socrates debate. Rajiv’s view is same as Socrates. 3. If a family has 5 members(mother ,father, 3 kids) and the children want to eat chocolates 3 times a day and they put it to a vote. Lets day the 3 kids win, does it mean this was the best decision simply because it was put to a vote? 4. Rajiv is not talking about Brahmanical Patriarchy. He is only saying an expert of the field should take decisions. Expert is not the same as a caste. You are misrepresenting his statement to support your own convictions. 5. I agree with your view on Multi Party system. Presidential system is not good for India. 6. There is no rule preventing PM to quit and become a President. 7. President has to work on advise of council of ministers is common knowledge. If Rajiv is making a contrary claim then its better to check why is he saying so rather then trolling him.
1. Point taken. It was an error. In any case, the focus is on his views being Brahminical, not on him being a Brahmin. 2. Irrelevant. A bad idea is a bad idea, regardless of who it comes from. Besides, Rajiv isn't making a general point about democracy being bad. He was making a specific point about Modi sidelining democracy and being made ruled for 20 years. That's what this was about. He lives in a democracy and peddles anti-democratic views about my country. That's the source of my issue. 3. It is nobody's case that every decision made in a democratic setup will be correct. It is more my case that people deserve to have a say in what happens to their lives. You may disagree with them, but that's what they chose. Besides, in your hypothetical family, if the father makes all the decisions, what is the guarantee that he will always make the right one? Suppose he says everyone must eat chocolate 3 times a day? Your example can go both ways. 4. Rajiv was speaking about gurus and kings. It is very much a Brahminical outlook. The idea of an enlightened guru is a pipe dream that has never been observed in reality. However, it HAAS been used by many to justify bad decisions. Rajiv posits Modi as such a leader who deserves to be given unfettered power. But Modi's rule has proven disasterous to many in India. 5. Thanks 6. No there isn't. But as we pointed out, he can't do it autonomously. There has to be a process and the kind of power Rajiv seeks to give to him will require unconstitutional means.
Another Brilliant Episode - and well-dissected. Recently I visited my cousin here in the USA and one of his recommendations is to watch Beer Biceps- BB - the moment I scrolled on BB I could say this is pure propaganda of half-knowledge by half-moronic content (not a full moron - full moron is aware he is a moron). The question for me is why people fall for him being a software engineer and after decent education. I think the fault lies with a lack of inquisitiveness and processing things on our own - but I am glad BB admitted he does all this for views - then at least there is some honesty.
Most of the content that BB puts out lines up well with their privelege and validates all the things they have been told about how great their culture is for a long time. Inquisitiveness can also lead you to only validate what you want, but a genuine thirst for understanding reality and challenging your beliefs is missing.
am not a fan of rajiv Malhotra.. But Guys SOME of your facts are just as questionable as Rajiv Malhotra himself. Eg: Putin... He became president by an election.. he amended the Russian constitution to increase the tenure from 4 yrs to 6 yrs and also increase the number of times a person can run for president..Going by the definition and the spirit of democracy, this is absolutely democratic.. the post of the prime minister always existed and still exists in Russia, however it was (even before Putin), it is and possibly will always remain a rubber stamp post.

1. What Mr. Malhotra is saying about democracy is a classic "Socratic" view of democracy. However, there is a context of the time and circumstances to what Socrates said about democracy. As of now, with all its assumptions and drawbacks, democracy is the only better system we have, to run the society. 2. Although there was a dictatorship in India, people had, atleast a marginal role, in keeping check on what kings are doing through wellfare state ideology. E.g. although people had no say while Ram was exiled the people's pressure made it difficult for Bharat to take the throne in addition to the morals of the time. 3. The Rajsuya Yadnya was another system which inhibited kings to declare their sovereignity on their own. Although it was more of a ransom kind of a thing, it required that other kings should accept providing taxes to the "supreme" king thereby avoiding wars and providing protection to smaller and weaker kingdoms. Although it was not a kind of honeymoon they would enjoy for eternity but would provide some peaceful time. 4. I would disagree on the view of calling out podcasts such as BB. We might agree to disagree however every view should be heard. Also, we can not assume that people's mind would be poisoned. It is again an elitist assumption that the people are stupid and cannot weigh on what are they listening to.
