I had a 2015 ED that I deleted at 42k because I couldn't keep it out of the dealership. I used a GDE off road tune and a straight pipe from the turbo back. I ran that truck for over 310k and NEVER had an engine light. My business outgrew the truck and I needed to tow heavier. The truck was like night and day different after the delete and tune. It was a great truck I did water pump every 100k and in tank fuel pump every 130k. I got 162k on the first set of brakes and it almost needed brakes when I sold it. I only ever ran lubrimoly toptech 4200 oil with a qt of lucas synthetic stabilizer. after the EGR delete the oil looked like new for 4k miles after oil changes. Changed oil when dash said 30% left- about 10k. At 310k there was no blow-by. I ran 285/70's and I got 27-29MPG like clock work, but I don't speed. Maybe 5 over. If I'd get into the throttle (almost WOT) with 3,000 or more pounds on the trailer it would smoke pretty good. You'll find you need to shut the truck off at most drive through's. It's not a Cummins, but I towed 7535lbs(scaled it) plus tongue weight from Ohio across PA on I-80 with cruise set at 65 and it pulled all the hills on 80 easily. Got 15.4mpg for the trip. The Cummins won't do that. My ED was a great truck. It was extremely comfortable and NO road or drivetrain vibrations ever. At 310k it had the original shocks on it. I drove it to Western Colorado MANY times pulling a 6x12 enclosed trailer very much loaded. Oh I also changed transmission, transfercase, and diffs oil at 130k intervals with redline fluids and it dropped my temps about 10 degrees. If you're following that the 130k mile service interval is an expensive one. Waterpump and fuel pump bought at the local dealership. quick tip if you do the water pump you don't get all the o-rings you need with the pump. DO NOT let your water pump go more than 100k all of mine had NASTY cracked o-rings at that interval. I have no idea how they didn't leak. I got lucky. Don't press your luck. Good luck.
I also use GDE engine & trans tunes. Love the turbo brake and cruise control improvements for towing. I changed the water pump at 350 K on one and 415k on another one when they were weeping. $700 for the Mopar one $550 for the new aftermarket one. Used “Eco Delete” to delete the EGR cooler on both. I tow Airstream travel trailers commercially. I change the rear differential fluid every 50 K and the transmission fluid every time 100K. At 700k I had first transmission problem and had to swap in a salvage yard unit as it was more cost effective. Used trans had 80k and I’ve put on another 85k since no issues.
@@RICARDOALVALAN No I got 700k out of the original transmission before having the first issue with it. Low coolant from a leaking EGR cooler (that I didn’t need since I had a tune hence now the “no eco”cooler delete) caused it to push a head gas at 371k miles. The replacement crate engine went 423k miles before it heat fatigued cracked a head. I’m now on my 2nd & final crate motor. I’m hoping it goes 500k. I think that’s good for a reasonably priced fuel efficient disposable motor. The truck has 835,000 miles. Friend James got 452k out his before the high pressure fuel pump grenaded and filled cylinder 3 with shrapnel. He put the crate motor replacement in his also and is still commercially towing with it. My son ordered a 2022 Ecodiesel I’m going to be jelly as they are dramatically improved.
Vern, you wouldn't recognize me but I remember you from the Ram 1500 Diesel forum. Glad to see you're still around and enjoying the truck. My 2017 just passed 80k miles and I think I may jump the gun a bit and delete it come tax time. I have the original GDE Hot tune with no EGR.. had that since 500 miles, with no issues at all. But I'm leaning toward mrtuning for the delete.
That Eco can boogie! Took off like a deleted 6.7! The Ecodiesel is a great engine(2016+) with proper maintenance, but deleting it will certainly add life back into it. Then you're getting better mileage than a Toyota Camry in a freaggin full size truck!
i have always suspected that US doesnt want to mainstream these efficient diesels because that would eat into other markets.. and the reason for the ridiculous emissions restrictions.
Just had it done by him(at his shop) on a 2014 in Feb, only deleted the def sys not the muffler much better mpg and performance. 2 great Canadian made products.
Love my my tune from EOC stage 2 40 and 60hp tune with Trans tune fucking awesome difference of a truck.. 2015 Outdoorsman CC 6'4 bed and 3.92 gears gets avg of 27 mpg 18 to 20 towing my 6k camper..
Wowww. Sounds great! Your video is the reason why I’m keeping my 2017 Laramie and planning to Delete it soon. I suppose to trade it with 3500. Lol. Tnx for the video!
I have a 2017 Ecodiesel with just over 72k miles. Thinking about deleting it. Trying to get better mileage, power, and save the life of my engine. I have no idea where to start. What do i look for? or what do I have to do in order to achieve those goals.
I just bought a 2016 ED with just 35,000 miles on it and I am looking for an exhaust and delete for it also....its bone stock also....what or where did you get your stuff from...thankya
Hello. I'm thinking about doing a stage I or stage II delete on my 2017 Ram 1500 eco diesel. Did you replace the OEM tuner with another tuner? What tuner did you replace it with? Does the tuner prevent the check engine light or any other emission warning light from coming on when you did the engine delete? If not, what did you do to prevent those lights from coming on? Do you have a manufacture and part number and who sells it? If doing a stage II engine delete, do I need to replace the exhaust, or can I keep my existing exhaust? Thanks!
Get the Dirty-diesel tune. The best tune I have ever tried. You send in your trucks computer and they upgrade the software for not a single light to turn on
Do you still have your truck? I have a 2016 im wanting to delete, and i just so happen to also live in Lancaster! Yours was the first video to come up and I recognised Columbus rd behind Taylors/Hugh White
Ok, I’m new to the Eco Diesel And I am waiting to know what tune to get. Engine, Trans or both and I want to keep the DPF shit but turn it off without the check engine light. For inspection purposes and resell. What is the best for power and fuel economy???
Are you running a factory overall tire size or something bigger? I’m just wondering because I’m planning to do something similar on my 2016 but I want to add lift and wheels and tires later so I want to plan ahead for speedometer correction.
I have a exactly same trunk I already did exhaust delete just looking to get the tune with the EGR delete do you have the info where you got your tune please advise I love what you did on your truck
Thanks for the video! I’m picking up my 2020 rebel ED and I’m wondering the best way to tune/performance mod while maintaining my 125k warranty. I’ve considered getting a backup (clone) ECM. Any advice would be appreciated
The new ecodiesels 2020+ have a different ecm so the only way to tune is either ship yours out to the tuner, or get a duplicate and get that one tuned. But since their benchflashed then essentially the dealer wont find out if you revert it back to stock and bring it in
Hey man nice truck! Sounds really good! I have a 2018 ram 1500 EcoDiesel and i want to fully delete mine really soon. Can you please share with me what’s the best way to go from your experience? I would really appreciate it!
Did the MPG improve after a tune? I'm looking at buying a 2017 thats had a delete and tune, was told it no longer needs the DEF because its been removed.
Im looking at buying one but my daily driving is 80-90% city driving consisting of probably 10-20 miles all around. My friend is selling me his 2016 with 116K miles for 28K and it has an MR tune and a delete and a bunch of AFE parts such as the air intake, exhaust, rear diff cover, the oil pan, and something else I think. I just don’t know if this will be worth it for the city driving I do, or if I should just get a gasser and call it a day. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Which exhaust do you have ? I want to delete my EGR and DEF... and am in a state with no inspections. However, I don't want the truck to be louder. Do you think yours is louder now?
Just curious what problems you might of had that led up to your delete? I currently have a 2016 ED with 82000 miles and throwing pd0299 and pd 026d codes with a service electronic throttle into limp mode. Seems like a lot of people that do the deletes get rid of all these issues.
Yes just a leveling kit and had 20x12 with -51 offset with 33-12.50 tires. Rubbed a bit in full lock on the inner plastic but easy to trim. I've since purchased 20x10 with 285-60 tires that I'm much happier with.
hey this is the same truck i recently bought. i love the tune and sound. is there anyway i can get the parts list for what the stage 2 you did? i think it sounds amazing and the milage towing or not impresses the hell out of me. i live in Illinois so i dont have to worry about emissions shit either. thanks for the video. ive been wondering and wanting to know if this was done and possible. you deff answered all that. email is fine. thanks again
These were really good before the government made them recall and start putting on all the econo crap. The new ones are designed to have it but do a lot better Without it. We don't have emissions test in our county for inspection.
@@weirdbeardfishin So you can actually install stage 2 tune PRIOR to any mods, then do the exhaust work, and leave EGR in place, albeit not working at all? Is there any performance advantage to leaving EGR in place? I have no emissions or inspections in my state, and have no warranty, so this may enable me to do the work little by little instead of consuming all of one weekend.
Awesome video, Im going to do a stage 2 tune and delete from MR tuning as well, in your video you said the DEF was empty, when you install the stage 2 and exhaust delete pipe, is it a requirement to have the dEF empty? Or can you empty it out when your deleting it?
Hey, just curious I have the same issue with the DEF sensor telling me it won’t start. I bought the GDE tune for it but that message didnt go away. Are you familiar with a procedure i can take on this?
take off tank, boil hot water and slosh around - do it 3 times - the 2nd time you do the sloshing let the hot water sit for 10 minutes, slosh and dump then 3rd time just slosh and dump. Fill with DEF maximum Half Full during sub freezing temperatures - if gauge does not move do not worry next day when you drive less than a mile, should start working again. If your State allows, then a DEF delete will also solve your problem.
I'm about to do my 2018 Ecodiesel it's done with the factory warranty never had a real problem in 4 years but now it's time to let the beast out oil change every 10,000kms seem to be the ticket I guess
Did your tune fully “shutoff” the EGR? Or , did you have to remove any of that or sensors. Mine is their DPF codes like crazy. Stuck in bad, bad limp mode.
There's several different tunes out there. Banks Derringer, AFE, SFT, PRTG, and you can order muffler delete pipe from Amazon or Jegs or Summit. You can also order a Pedal Commander makes the throttle more responsive and spools up turbo faster. I bought a i9 digital for $75 on Amazon just clicks inline onto the throttle pedal and has 81 different settings. Can also buy DPF delete but pain in the butt. S&B cold air intake works great but for $45 buy 3 inch piece of exhaust pipe paint it black and put filter on the end. That also helps with throttle response
Banks is the hardest to install because it goes into the sensors on the motor but the shop never knew you had a tune. Other tuners send ECU out but like this guy's tune and SFT you just connect to OBDII port under dash done in 2 minutes or less
