@arcimagess Exactly: British written protocol, you mean. And according to Pontifical protocol none sits before the Pope. Therefore, since the Pope was then both someone of a somehow higher rank - and a guest - he sat first and was treated with all that degree of respect.

we all can learn something from others, if what they say is both correct and unknown to us. as to history lessons, i'm afraid most britons - probably not you personally - need to often be reminded a few basic facts about what came out what, especially when they perform unwarranted chest-thumping, something they do pretty often. thanx to you too.

@arcimagess be precise: she's not the queen of england, but of the uk plus another 15 realms, and has been so for nearly 60 years, that's true... while he's only the elected monarch of the 0.44 km2 tiny vatican city, since 2005. but, as i said, the higher rank of the pope depends on being the head of the oldest surviving institution in the world, the main branch of the christian religion, i.e. the roman catholic church. by the way, the female-first rule applies to secular kings, not to clerics.

@Yongle96 Guys, guys, please let's see the positive aspect of the visit and talks. Most certainly issues of who is sited first as far as Queens and Popes are concerned, is quite a trivial and insignificant matter. Petty subject for discussion. Both carry great historical weight, the Pontiff first indeed as the most ancient institution and the Queen as successor to the once British Imperial throne and now Commonwealth. I am confident they themselves recognise each others weight of position.

@Giomarach Actually when I saw him in Rome he wasn't in the Pope mobile. He was being carried on a kind of palanquin and a nun was casting rose petals in front of him.If anyone had wanted to kill him they could have that evening.

@Giomarach "I meant killed for atheist beliefs" well nobody killed for theists beliefs either, people killed for christian beliefs, muslim beliefs, stalinist beliefs, nazi beliefs, eugenics beliefs etc. atheists do have beliefs and they can kill because of them just as any other group. i dont know what church actually did during the war but i can imagine there were both bad and good things like saving the jews.

@givingmantoo Yeah, I think a lot of people including me feel the same way about pedophiles. I don't mean to pick bones; but I'm pretty sure the Pope isn't a pedophile. As late as many people think his response is to the issue, I think his efforts are sincere. I kow you're upset and I know many peope are upset over what you've written. She's the Queen of England for nearly 60 years while he is the pope for 6 years. He should've waited, out of RESPECT. But I guess respect is not in the vocabulary of the pope.

I would like to remind you that being against religous organisations, such as holding a disestablishmentarianism view, does not constitute personal belief. And the Catholic Church was involved in the ratlines of world war 2, helping Nazi war criminals and other fascists to flee Europe.

@gentelc I don't necessarily believe what you believe, but I understand that both religion and non religion are a needed competition to balance things out. A worth without religion is easier to go into anarchy and a world with religion has too much control over the world and can be a danger in itself. I think we would need a more prevailant Quran in the U.S. in order to have a society like Iran. This is all imo though :3

As the every bit of the World exists by the Effort of the God a society or anything to exist without the God is impossibility. The God's Effort to keep this World to exist and functioning we may call the God's Love. The every bit of the World is the God's property, except our awareness, existing with the Awareness of the God. Chapet or Temple or Shrine of the God never meant to be such houses but the God's body our awareness is granted the occupation and use of.

Sorry to disappoint you, but most (like 99.9%) of RC's don't find child abuse something to be enjoyed. Did it happen in the RCC - Yes, but the ironic thing about the whole sad situation is, rates of abuse in the RCC are actually Lower than in other faith communities - a moot point? - possibly, but worthy of stating in any case. Empirical data, as opposed to bigotry or other forms of ignorance tells us, the most dangerous group to kids in society - mothers! Ahh, the ironies off life....

Your just associating his ethnicity with events that happened over sixty years ago! Being German does not make you a Nazi! As for Desi people, I personally like them but all I all the British comments I read are about immigration reform, so like I said, enjoy being a prot. country while it last.
