I have been practicing classical hatha yoga for 2 years. After watching different ashtangis I have become interested in Ashtanga yoga. This morning I began my practice with Surya Namaskara A. Your explanations and instructions are clear, directed, and thorough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with such generosity.

Hi Kino, this video is great! I bought your beginners yoga DVD about 3 months ago and have been using it ever since. I'm starting to get the hang of surrendering to the practice (which can be a challenge at times!) I'm already seeing benefits within my strength and flexibility, but the biggest benefit by far is within my mind - I feel so peaceful and balanced after I practice and it stays with me throughout the day. Just wanted to say a big thank you for this video lesson. I know you will hear this all the time but I find you very inspirational! I'm a complete beginner (I don't even have a mat!) and unfortunately I haven't got the ability to attend physical classes, and really yoga isn't something I ever thought I could do but you have made it really accessible, it somehow seems less scary! I followed quite well and I really feel like I've achieved something! I'm going to do this routine again regularly and hopefully improve a little each time. Thanks again!

This is a wonderful morning practice for me that I think will make a fine habit. Thank you so much for this Kino! I love the way your words instruct so clearly that I don't need to look at the video and can practice along with your words (I watched it just once before joining in practice). I've practiced yoga for about 5 years but never gotten up as the sun rose to greet it with Salutations as your video has inspired me to do this morning! As you suggest, this practice will become part of my lifestyle! I still had to use blocks to maintain the lift at the end, but I can tell I'll be able to do it on my own soon. Kino, I am so so happy that I stumbled upon your videos! I took introduction to yoga classes and although it helped me grasp the foundations of yoga, I was not confident. Your video really opened up my understanding on Astanga, the correct postures, where and when to breathe, how to achieve each posture, the flow, everything..!! Thank you, Kino! This was my first time and challenging for my 50yo man-body - but doable with beginner modifications, like you suggested. When your voice is enough of a guide (and I don't have to look up to see where to go), I'll move along much better.
Just starting Yoga and had an Instructor today teach me Ashtanga Vinyasa "Sun Salutation A's" Thanks Kino as your video is precisely everything he took me through and now I can practice following your video at home for preparing our next sessions. Still focusing on my breathing as well.

Dear Kino, thank you for coming up with this series of longer videos where we can practice together! I've started working on your Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series, and the most challenging/frustrating thing is my lack of core-and-upper body strength to lift off the ground... it feels like I'm never going to be able to do it... I've been practicing for more than 7 months now, but even lowering just in Chatturanga is still difficult... I would really love and appreciate if you could share tips, or a sequence that is accessible to the very beginners, but challenging enough to make you sweat and build hand, upper body and core muscles... Thank you in advanced, love you!
Holy crap I managed to lift myself in Utpluthih. I've been trying to do it when following a different one of your beginning yoga videos, and I never could. For some reason, sitting in full Lotus made it easier than only partially crossing my legs. I only held it for three full breaths, but I didn't expect to be able to do it at all. I have more arm strength than I knew.
Wonderful. I'm trying to get back in the habit of practicing with the sunrise! I promised myself to at least start with the sun salutation and gradually get up earlier. Love that you closed the practice as well. xoxo Trisha

i've been following for a while and hoping you would do something like this! i just did the vid. i'm SUPER rusty, and it seemed very fast. very inspirational for personal practice but i'd love a paced class style too... looking forward to what you bring!
