I usually have fun with my crowd. I played beyoncé's" irreplaceable"and I told the audience to face a certain way and then I told him to follow the instructions and when I hit play it just kept saying to the left, to the left, because that was the way of the exit 😂
Some of the guys I DJ’d with went on to be nationally famous. All of them had the same attitude as you. Super positive, loves to help people get to the next level. I love your videos brother.
That's really what it is! I learned early on that, even if you're technically gifted and a master at music selection, if you're negative and generally hard to work with, bookings will dry up. Talent will only get you so far; the rest is building connections, bridges, and being a great person as a whole! Attitude really wins out in the end. :)
I usually end my nights with either "One More Time" or " Theme from New York, New York." One more time is just a great overall last song, and Sinatra always goes great for my NY gigs. However, for straight mixing sets, I liked both of the strategies mentioned in the video. I think they match the audience well, which after all is our job to identify in the first place haha
I dunno if it's because I'm old, or because I like it "simple", but that first one is definitely not for me. As always, thanks for sharing your skills and for being so clear. 👍
I usually just put in a 4 beat loop on a more minimal part of the song like with drums after the chorus and near the ending and just slow it down and make it sound chaotic before ending with a reverb out
I love to end my set with First technique.. Also keep my light guys informed about the ending. So that the light turns up and then end with thank you not on my mic
I like to do a hyping up riser that ends in a kick cause that starts my hand picked final track of the set that usually ends with soft vocals. Simple but effective.
I cant be the only one that hates number 1, right? I have seen so many youtube djs do that and none have convinced me that the method is good. It always sounds jarring and annoying
So I'm the only idiot that just left the song to finish. As thru whole night of mixing, hearing the song ending/fading properly is just natural way of saying party is over? Or I'm wrong? 😅
@@djcarlo The 1st One.. Kinda keeps you in suspense. Like “what is he building up to drop next” Then an Epic slow down, “good night thanks for coming out,get home safe..” Echo out. 🔥🔥
yeah because the first one sounds like a riser and builds expectation. Building expectation for the literal end of the set makes no sense in my opinion. However this riser effect could be super cool for a riser transition into a drop i think
In my city theres a liquor ban still on going now. And when the supervisor signals me to end the set i immediately cut off the music cause it usually means police are here and they are about to enter the bar/club. Di ko alam bat may liquor ban pa dito sa amin nakaka umay. Buti nalang hindi curfew 😂
@@djcarlo di ko nga rin alam eh haha since covid yung 12am liquor ban nalang nagpa iwan. Its a big help with the safety of the city din kasi malapit kami sa marawi. Pero atleast kami mga merong bar/club residency nakakauwi nang maaga 😂
I agree! The first one is really just for festival gimmicks. The second one is usually how I actually end my sets haha, especially when I used to do closing sets
bruh.. he may not be the best at mixing House and the first one might not be on par with some modern dj´s out there, but he´s a vinyl god, show some respect
