This is a popular bag made in cork. I make it lined and cut the tassel at 1/8". I've tried using the heat transfer vinyl on the back and for me, it was too heavy and needed to be cut in the 1/4" width. I add a couple of inside pockets too. This is a really popular Mom bag with magnetic snap closure. Thanks Jess!

With the white pattern piece laying on it I thought you had split it and made it half and half with the two colors. I know you didn't but what a good idea! Of course a sewist would have to add a seam and beginner might not feel comfortable making all those measurement changes. Black and white! Print and solid! So many options!

I didn't know where everybody was getting the pattern so I just made my own. I added an interior zipper pocket for valuables, which I consider essential for a bag that does not close completely. I've made one so far and it turned out great. Excellent tutorial.

Hi Jess ~ your videos are wonderful!! My kit arrived and I’ll be making this very soon. Question ~ how is the stability of cork when you put your purse contents inside. Will it sag or hold the beautiful shape as you have shown. I haven’t worked with cork yet. There appears to be different thickness’s of cork. Maybe you could do a video about cork and selecting the correct cork for different projects?? Thanks for such detailed videos!

I would love to see a cork video as well. This was my first experience with cork. While it was easier to sew than vinyl, it doesn’t seem as sturdy. If this purse was in a store, I think I would pass it up for something more durable.

I really enjoy watching your videos and have learned a lot about sewing bags 😊😊. However, I might wish that you would sometimes provide information on your settings on your Bernina sewing machine. I also have a Bernina, an 880 Plus, and many times I give up because I don't think it sews nicely enough. The lower feed does not move the fabric well enough and the stitch length is always very uneven. Could you perhaps make a video about your settings?

Curious about the monthly subscription box. Does the pattern come to you each month already pre-printed? Can not stand downloading and taping all the papers. Hi Jess, I love your videos. I was wondering when you purchase vinyl how much do you buy. Do you have a specific bag in mind and know how much you need or do you just buy several pieces? I'm new to this and I'm not sure how much to buy. Most bag makers have the pattern precut so we don't actually see the cut process. How many cuts you can get from a piece and so on. I know in kits you get what you need but for a newby who doesn't get a kit how much vinyl would you suggest buying?

When I got the pattern, it is asking for SEW IN FOAM to use with the quilting cotton. I made it this way and don't like how stiff this makes the bag feel. Does anyone have any recommendations on the use of something else that make this a little more flexible? (sorry....newbie here)

Soooooooo, I must have cut my exterior pieces incorrectly because there wasn't enough pink cork for both pieces. Luckily, I do have other cork I can use that coordinates with the pink. I'll post my pic when fully completed.

I was disappointed with this month's choice. Sallie Tomato collaborated with Sulky of America in 2020 for this exact pattern. They had a kit as well at the time, which included more items than this month's kit. I feel like this was just an attempt to use up extra inventory. 😔 Also, the lining of the bag uses white, light-weight canvas. I would never use white for a bag lining. It would get dirty so fast. Hope next month's kit is more appealing.

I felt the same way. Last month was my first month and I loved it. The packaging, the material the hardware it was great. This month I felt like it was just thrown together to get something out the door to fulfill the commitment. ...and white lining?!? I am still shaking my head at that choice. Pretty? Yes, but so not practical.
