Hi Adam! I too am loving my EX20S High Speed version, though I haven’t made any YT videos, just FB Owner group posts and IG. I may make one just to contribute good vibes of this wheel for the community…it had a bad rap but it’s one of the best wheels this year. Something does feel off about the torque performance of the wheel you have. I am a heavier rider and haven’t had that kind of strange motor crunching behavior going up inclines but now I’ll look for places to put it to the test. I see no reason why it shouldn’t have the usual expected Begode performance, even if it is a heavier wheel. I’m glad that you mentioned that you don’t really feel the weight when you ride it, even when accelerating…most riders don’t believe me when I tell them. And the comfort…makes long rides feel like short rides. Simply amazing. Stock pads are great too, best I’ve seen so far, though I did divide the front and back parts of the lower pads to fit my ankles better. Love the Emperor name! I think EX20S is kind of a handful to say too. Given the versatile capabilities, I was thinking perhaps the EX stands for EXplorer. A wheel for exploration and adventure!

I was actualy interested with this wheel, with the LiFePo battteries. 2000 Wh was all that I needed, and the top speed was higher, due to the higher electrical tension. The price was lower, batteries were safer by default, and they would also have outlived the wheel. Quite a niche though, a 50 kg wheel with 2000 Wh might not have had a lot of succes with the average person, but as a big 100+ kg guy, I was genuinely interested. I went for the Master in the end, can't wait to receive it !

Thanks for always giving a short brief perspective of the latest and greatest EUCs. I live vicariously through your reviews, as I can't see myself leaving my love for Hyper-Electric Scooters. Yet your reviews are an awesome motivation that inspires my love for the PEV community. I'm an older guy and I really lack the motivation to experience the learning curve of riding an EUC but I really enjoy watching Pioneers such as yourself give us all the breakdown. Thanks again.

Hey John, I completely understand your point, though if I could give you an advice, test it. It might sound hard, and it is indeed harder than any e-scooter, but believe me, the learning curve is not THAT steep. You can learn to ride in a matter of minutes, and even though it might take you a few months to really 'master' it, the feeling of reward motivates a lot. And though I enjoy all PEVs, EUCs really are something different in terms of feel and amusement.

@@malinaanaho Thanks for that vote of confidence. It's not the learning curve that makes me hesitant. It's mostly the idea that my older bones may not heal as quicker from a bad spill. Every time I build up the confidence to possibly purchase one, I always see another one of those "cut out" videos or battery fires. I'm an advocate for wearing great safety gear and riding safely but, something tells me that there's no way to escape the potentials of falling on an EUC. Thus, I'm content to stick with my hyper scooters.

It’s a lot easier than you might imagine to learn, if you can find a pal with one to hold on to and run along while you commit a little to a stable speed, and overcome your natural reticence. I’d have you going in an hour!

This is going to be my next wheel for sure. I had decided that the day the kingsong fire happened in NY. I am curious about a couple of things though.. first off is the suspension, is there any way to change the geometry like on the S22? What about if you were to flip the suspension bracket plates? Would that change the travel distance or the resistance on the shock? Also I ride an S18 currently and one thing that I've noticed is excessive wobbles like when I'm braking from high speeds also it has a strong tendency to train track. And I'm wondering if doing a tire swap would fix these problems or if there is anything else I can do to minimize these issues? And I just want to say thanks Adam, you have proven yourself to be a high authority in regards to EUCs and I appreciate your thorough, no holds barred, genuine and honest revues. I have learned so much from your videos. In regards to the EX2.0S I believe this is a new breed of wheel and we will begin to see more wheels like this with the robust modular symmetrical design that appears to be easily modded and will provide a long lasting platform that will be easy to upgrade as the technology advances.. Hopefully you will get a chance to try one of these out with a C30 high speed motor and see if there's much dif in performance. Keep up good work.

Im loving my ex20s as well, just passed 900 miles on it. I have the high speed version. Between the speed and comfort and battery capacity, it just eats pavement. I havnt noticed any torque issues at all but then again i dont try to push it into those types of situations ever. Its a street cruiser. I changed out the shock, and added a new headlight and tail light and usb port. The customizability of this wheel is unbelievable

@@mr_wrongway not sure if my other comment just didnt post or if youtube decided to delete it on its own as it seems to like to do sometimes But just check that your on the most recent firmware. The original firmware that shipped with my unit was bugged. I had to reach out to begode for an emergency update which they where able to solve quickly If your soft mode works properly then your on the newest firmware

Unfortunately the Master only uses ~25-27mm of the shock's travel, compressing the shock to 163-165mm eye to eye, when full compression of the shock should be around 150mm, which I believe the EX20S actually does. I'm guessing that last 15 or so mm of the shock's stroke is where much of the air shock progression occurs. I'm definitely keeping an eye on custom linkage designs that address this, it would really bring the Master to the next level!

I have the EX20S C30 high speed and it's my favorite wheel. I came from the veteran Sherman and the Sherman feels like a tiny wheel after riding this one.

is that a good thing, though? I'm still torn between the Master and the Shermax. If the master had more range, I'd instantly go for it. The EX20S seems just too bulky and heavy in everyday situations.

Dude I love all your vids. If you ever are at a loss as to what to make a video on next, I have a suggestion: Do more vids on advanced riding! I just got my EUC and while I can ride around now, I'm now hungry to learn advanced techniques. Foot placement, power pad placement, higher speed carving, etc. Everyone in the EUC community seems to just shrug and say "you'll figure out your style the more you ride." Which is no doubt true, but everyone seems to have different techniques and tricks they can talk about and I want to learn them all.

As someone who mostly just window shops EUC's, I think this looks like one of the better options. Range, comfort, those are both important to me. I'd rather go on a long trip comfortably than a slow trip and end up sore.

I've been watching a lot of your videos, looking to buy a wheel for commuting (train + 10km one way) primarily and the occasionally fun ride. I had my mind set on an inmotion v11, but now I've seen your latest begode videos. Does it mean their electrical wiring issues area thing of the past? Would you trust the Emperor (ex20) or the Hero in the rain now? A year ago you didn't trust it and got the v11 partly for this reason. What would you advise for me to buy?

I wonder if the Master would fare better in this comparison if it had a better tire and better shock. In other words, how much of the EX20s's superior ride feel is geometry and programming, and how much of it is just better tire & shock.

I think there's a bit of that, but also, more weight usually is more stable. For long rides at moderate speed, I'm pretty sure the EX20S would still be more comfortable than the master. It's just not the same usage in the end :)

Hmmm. Good point. I really want one of these wheels but they might not be relevant for that long. They finally hit the sweet spot of comfort and range with the ex20s, but with people now loving the Master so much it might not be long before we see a wheel with speed, comfort & range. 😯

It is all three. Though the Master has opened up new performance limits at 134v, I have the C30 version of this wheel and the speed of a 100v HS wheel is there (a la Commander, Sherman Max, EXN), along with the comfort of suspension and range. I don't know about this wheel all of a sudden becoming irrelevant even if a 134v version eventually comes along, which may not be for a while even if were to be announced today.

@@panobirds Probably not the wheel for you if you're looking to cruise into, say, the 50's. I haven't pushed mine to top speed personally yet, so I'd have to wait for more pro riders to get that max speed value. I do know George from the YT channel GoGeorgeGo has gone up to 46 with no beeps. Based on that, I estimate this wheel is more like a comfortable 45-50 mph max cruiser. If you're looking for more of a 50-53 mph max cruiser, or something beyond a Sherman, that's probably more like an MPro.

I don't know if you heard but veteran released an update 2.0.11 It addresses the issue you had and it didn't state this but my pedal dip is like 95% gone. Now I never had a problem with my Abrams from day one other than pedal dip and I'm 270lbs. I think you should give it another try. I love mine although it's my first wheel 😁

I know this is the torque version.... but I'm pondering between the c30 speed version and the Mpro. I know the monster isn't as comfy, but i would like to at least keep up with the MANY, MANY mpro's that's on our group rides. Sherms as well. U think the C30 will at least keep up on the top end? Or should i just wait till power improvements come in updates? Or other big power/ range wheels come out(Inmotion Raptor maybe?)

Great video Adam, thank you! I wonder why there's no pedal dipping on the EX20 but there is so much on the Master and Hero. Watching your footage of the wheel in turns staying perfectly flat gives me some hope that Begode might actually be listening to there customers. Forward pedal dipping during turns is the most off-putting feeling ever, and it's what's kept me off every new wheel they (and Veteran) have put out over the past few years. Anyhoo, thank you so much again, great video!! : )

@@Blox117 Hmph.. I've ridden the V8, V11 and V12 for short rides and didn't feel any forward pedal dipping on them while turning. Seems to be most prevalent on the newer 20 inch(+) Begode and Veteran wheels. Don't know about the S20, but both the 16x and 18x are both perfect in terms of staying flat, so I'm cautiously optimistic about the S20.. 👀🤞

@@Blox117 Hmph, I was only on thd V8 I rode for a mile and didn't notice it, but will take your word for it. The reason according to eWheels (as explained to them by I assume Begode) for forward pedal dipping on long turns is to not impede the gyroscopic momentum of the wheel when turning.. which I honestly don't get. Seems like the opposite to me.. If anything's going to 'impede the gyroscopic momentum' it's your wheel doing a nosedive during a turn. Anyway, I really hope wheel-makers phase it out 🙏

Lack of pedal dip is very noticeable in tight turns and when holding a line on big sweeping bends. I’ve never overpowered mine even on rough trails up hill. Let me try harder!

If you do very long roadtrips, then the EX20S makes sense, if you juste have fun around and don't travel that far, master might be more fun. They're both 2 very different wheels. I have the EX20S and though very comfortable you can feel it's a cruiser wheel. Even the Sherman looks tiny next to it...

From your review it seemed to me like it's a great addition to 16x. It's heavier, yet better in everything except torque and weight, but lets be honest - 16x has way more torque than it really needs in most situations.

begode Master and ex20s are best euc's in 2022. Emperor probably get 134v next year, so it will be even better. Sherman/commander no longer reasonable buy, cost same and offer less.

Overrated... j/king 🤣 Speakers are dispensable imo as you can always implement your own solution and with WAYYYY more quality than the one usually provided on wheels. As for the screen, yeah, that's a shame... It reminds me of motorbikes with no fuel gauge in 2022 ;o;

I suspect that the torque and incline issues are related to the tire generating too much rolling resistance due to slight under inflation. I say this because I noticed how much tire deflection you were having at times.

I don’t think so…I was riding with lower pressures on different wheels and loss of torque didn’t occur. I have around 30-35 psi in it atm

I do like a bit higher tire pressure but usually I ride around 35 now. I don’t go lower because I don’t want to damage a time on a stone/pothole/bump

Yes, this is not real world offroad to me, you would struggle to find dirt paths this smooth in my area , many loose and rounded stones, ruts and roots, big inclines, heaven for trial hell for an EUC :D

@@mr_wrongway I was running 20 all winter on the 16x for better traction, only dented my rim when I had a puncture, 60kg rider. Normally now I do 27psi and it makes my ride feel great, my town has such shit roads I was bouncing all over the place with stock 35psi. Don't really feel the need for suspension still. Love your vids! Just pointing out that some people would do just fine with the comfort of a non-sus wheel if they skip rolling down the stairs for fun I guess.

@@EdLrandom TBH the thing is not about the feel, it's about what you want. I mean, most "old school" enthusiast bikers will tell you they don't feel a need for ABS, most "old school" enthusiast drivers will tell you they don't feel a need for full automatic gear shift, and the list can go on. And that's totally fine if you enjoy it. Doesn't mean that in the same conditions, some others wouldn't enjoy it more with it, being ABS, full automatic or suspension.

Sherman Max is not a suspension wheel,so I don’t think it’s comparable,I have ordered the Master😍

2 usages. Sherman max is also a cruiser. The master is more of your fun lightweight wheel to enjoy offroad imo. Depending on your usage, you might be able to do your own choice.

@@grumpykitten2448 Agreed. These are two different types of ewheels for different purposes. Adam's reviews have had sway on my purchase decision, but not absolute power. You should be able to decide which one you want based off your needs and preferences because they are different ewheels.

Just walk up and down the stairs; no biggie. How difficult is it to get into a auto bus? (Public Transport) Not all routes permit either pedestrians or monocycles; until the oil runs out of cause. Then they will change their minds.

These numbers look solid, 140 km at ~25 km/h is like my dream come true. BUT the weight and what seems to be connected to it, the bottoming out of the suspension, really makes this a wheel, I'd rather not get. I still hope for a 2nd gen compromise on the master. A few fixes and ~3000Wh battery.

I think they will release the ex20s in the near future with a 134v 6p battery (still 3600wh)

Honestly, more voltage is not much of an issue for me, living in a comparably flat environment and seeing the difference - to be precise the lack there - doesn't win me over. I'd rather have 100-120 km range in exchange for a 10 kg lighter, torquier wheel. The master is so close, but still so far at 2400 Wh battery.. a shame imo

@@privileguan9127 its gunna be a long time to see something lighter. Your still talking about 192 battery cells to get that kind of range. The sherman is barely 10kg lighter and doesnt have any suspension at all

True, this might be over the top. But I can dream, right? Right?! At least my dreams can't be declared illegal.. Still, both very solid wheels - and a fusion of both in terms of stats would be sweet.

@@privileguan9127 In it's defense, since it's not a commute wheel, you probably shouldn't have to lift it that often, and if you do, you probably shouldn't consider that wheel. And in terms of riding, WW said it was still nimble despite the weight (given that would apply to everyone, so you'd have to test it yourself probably). If you want that kind of range + suspension, the weight is (for now) always going to be an issue, so you might wait a very long time before having your dream come true. As for the suspension, I think most of us would swap it, I mean, that would be the same as saying: "I dun want the sherman cause the pedals are meh". Suspension wise, lots of options are available, and I'm confident in saying you probably can find your fit out there. Most people use a DNM 36-38RC and you could even try a 42RC if you wanna be sure to not bottom out I suppose, and even go on more expensive options. Now the feel would probably be different, but testing is king to find your fit. Sum-up: I understand your choice and would not argue against it, but the "issues" you are raising are non blocking ones imo. Then again, it's just my opinion and as far as the choice is yours, your arguments are and will always be valid.

I like it. The technology was pushing too hard on the power/ battery ratio. A big motor on a small battery is going to be unsafe. A relatively large battery is more capable of absorbing the currents demanded and generated by a smaller motor. Yes. This philosophy will produce a longer lasting, safer wheel. Still no super capacitor between motor and battery?

Looks like a radiator but for touring looks like there isn't anything better. The look and weight of it are just bleh

How is it "safe" to pass throught a pot hole if it cant cross a simple small step like happened on that fairy easy stair??? By the way, 50 kg is outrageous and opposite of an unicycle should be as a portable way of transportation... Not to mention it is ugly as hell...

The thing is that the suspension is tailored for comfort. Usually with this setting going down stairs will be not the best. There you need stiffer suspension and slower rebound like on the s22

Can't fully agree on that one. Even though I agree there should be a category of EUCs that are portable and lightweight, why should they all be that way? That's like saying motorbikes should NEVER be over 200 kgs because they should be easy to handle and have a nice power-weight ratio, then you would wipe out 1/2 of the market, including harleys, cruisers and trails... There should be lightweight EUCs, heavier ones for long range cruises, small ones for daily commutes, bigger ones for more stability and so on... There should be as many EUCs as there's riding styles imo.
