@@LSK2K Not reaaaaaaally made from scratch; the studio obtained Neversoft's original handling code and layered on the code to modernize the handling, as well as consulting with former employees -wiki They knew what they were doing, and if they fucked this up...... i really dont even wanna imagine what would have happened if this turned out ANYTHING like THPS5
The original THPS games are huge for me. Due to disabilities I can never skate IRL, but I always wish I did. I guess THPS made it as true as it can be for me. I never tire of that game. As soon as they announced it I had to have this. And its just as great as you think it would be.
I love how they subbed Bob's part of the video in Portuguese. They definitely know that guy means a ton to Brazil's skate scene, and that they want to know what he has to say
Skateboarding came from the underground before it went mainstream. That’s why it has stayed around. Most mainstream trends are generic and have no substance. Thats why they’re one hit wonders. But skateboarding culture is here to stay.
Steamer is the shit. As a female myself, when I was a kid, a female skater in the industry was thrilling and someone I looked up to. She is a true OG. This game is a very worthy and beautiful remaster of its originals. It's perfect. Next we need THUG 1+2!!
When the original games came out, i thought Elissa Steamer was a woman. Then i played the remaster and thought to myself "lol, Elissa is a guy?! At least she looks like a guy in the game." Now my brain has to back paddle a lot because she is a woman. Again!
When Jamie was like “you’ve got these two worlds, video games and skateboarding.” I immediately in my head was like “and this is what it’s like when worlds collide”
Tony Hawk is a genius! He brought the skate culture in an unprecedented level. Once I tried to skate and never got enthusiasm from that. After I played THPS in early 2000’s I got practicing and got in love for this sport. You changed and made a revolution for the skaters and the industry itself. Skate was always linked to drugs and bad things and then you made this masterpiece that changed everything! You - probably together with Rodney Mullen - are giants in this industry you both invented the modern skate as we have now in Olympic Games and in the most important events around the world!
This video actually made me tear up, I miss skating so much. These pros got me into skateboarding as a kid and it's crazy that they're doing it all over again now that I'm 28.I was never a good skateboarder but man I can't think of a cooler profession sometimes.
Koston nailed it. I never skated but THPS got me to fall in love with the culture, the competition, the videos. I would go with friends to SkateStreet Ventura, which was in the area I grew up, just to hang out and enjoy the novelty of being in a place immortalized in something as big as THPS2
There were skateboarding games that came before, but it wasn't until the PS and N64 came out that open-world style games were really possible. And THPS really captured the feeling of just skating around and doing whatever you wanted. It was a masterpiece.
It's so crazy how someone who introverted and to himself like Rodney Mullen, is the man who cares more about the community and sport as a whole than anyone else.
Not at all its a sport that is full of white ppl so to see a black man doing something that I thought was cool but not for my ppl was a doorway for other black kids same with basketball, a sport dominated by blacks but to see guys like luka and and Steve nash opens a door for those who only seen it as a black sport
I've been skateboarding for over 20 years Tony hawk came out when I was 4 years old and I remember playing it when it first came out. my one cousin got ti and me and my 16 other cousins on my moms side of the family I remember trying to get a tern in at one of the family party's. I got to meet tony when I was 6 or 7 it was a dream come true. What's even crazier than with the popularity of skating Rodney is talking about. snowboarding when from no one knew what it was and didn't let you do it anywhere to an Olympic sport in 10 years, but it couldn't have done that without skateboarding
flare 156 i just feel like ea makes bank on sports game. I mean baaaaank. Why cant they put some of that money into polishing a game? These things matter... thps has had a rough decade. But some how they still pulled this off.
Avocado Dip i know man... that what pisses me off the most... hopefully after all the backlash madden 21 is getting they wil actually create a true successor.. not just an updated roster..
I remember watching all the skate videos of different skaters, skating with my friends, playing the games together. it was awesome, learning the lingo for moves and trying to go do them like the legendary skaters we looked up too.
My video game dream became true in 2020, thx for this Vicarious. Crash was insane, this remastered is just beyond. All your future releases will be day one purchases again for sure.
i begin too love skateboarding because of Mullen.....i start skating 1990 because of Mullen......i played skateboard games because of Mullen.....i always picked Mullen as charakter in games because he is what he is.......i still watch skateboard videos and nobody till today comes even close because of MULLEN!!!!!
Love this new version. I've completed it already. Back in the day I was always Rune Glifberg but now I've made myself. Good to see a lot of newer skaters alongside the originals. Good move.
JAMIE THOMAS IS MY FAV, BUT IN THE GAME 2 BEST SKATERS ARE BUCKY LASEK AND RUNE. RUNE IS UNBEATABLE HIS SIGNATURE TRICKS THAT NO OTHER SKATER HAVE ARE JUST OVERPOWERED. IN REAL LIFE I WOULD RANK RUNE AND LASEK TOP 7 EVER, I ONLY MISS CRIS COLE AFTER JAMIE THOMAS COLE IS MY FAV EVER.
As classically trained musician, I kinda feel sad sometimes knowing that the founders of classical music are not with us anymore. We can only enjoy what has been documented. Mullen was spot on. Skateboarding does not have long history but that's okay because our generation and their generation are sharing the same timeline. We can always listen to their advice, apply their wisdom, practice their routine and I'm sure that our seniors are stoked knowing that we will always develop what they have started.
When Rodney speaks, you just want to listen! I swear, i remember growing up watching a bunch of 411 video tapes cause of my older brother... those were the times!
As a skater I can say this is fantastic... Just the people yall added are gonna make such a new change for the effect the game has on people.. You guys always manage to step it up and skateboarding needed this.. I see the love for the culture starting to develope in the younger crowds and its exciting... I hope skateboarding has finally made a bold enough mark that no matter how hard they try they cant ever erase it from history... Shout out to Lizzie, Leticia, Lacey, Elissa, Aurora yall are some of thee best skaters Ive ever had the opportunity to watch.. shout out to Nyjah for killin the game since he was about 8 and still being able to be such a skate machine and take heads off, Shout out to Kareem for being one of the most influencial skaters easily in my top 5 with Stevie#1 and Khalis being #2 brings me to my next shout out to Tony Hawk for throwing in the most Iconic skate spot for me as a skater growing up in the inner cities of Pa, LOVE Park is now a spot in the game!!! LOVE IT!! Now no matter what we can enjoy the spot and it can live on forever!!! If I ever become someone with any kinda pull... the first thing I'll do is have LOVE rebuilt in the exact same way it used to be.. BIGFacts!!
This was simply... the most emotional videogame-wise video i've ever watched, such nostalgic feeling impossible to describe. Seeing all the original skaters dressed in their original outfits from the first game, how cool is that? All the taling about "schooling" the new generation and talking about my generation which was the same as theirs is amazing, but what I thought was the coolest is their age, and seeing that they haven't changed, unlike this new generation that changes constantly and the arts nowadays just don't last long. It's sad in a way, but I'm glad I was part of the second best generation of all!
The worst part is mullen had worst stats yet he's most probably the best and most influential skater of all time. Innovator at his core! I guess they had to make it a fair playing field haha.
@@SuperNuclearUnicorn he should deffo be maxxed at any type of primo casper and darkslides tho! oh and truckstands. his truckstand + 360 spin + flip is one of the most beautiful things ive seen in skateboarding
These games meant SOO MUCH to my friends and me. It influenced our lives in such an enormous way and all this is already 20 freaking years ago! We didn't just get introduced to skateboarding and picked up the boards ourselves and had great fun, not only at home playing the game but going out and socialize through a common thing we were all in to. Friends of mine started a skate shop because of it and it has become an iconic place to go and some what part of the identity of my home town. We also got introduced to a sh*t lot of awesome bands which were not main stream and of which we never heard about before. Rage Against The Machine, Fu Manchu and all these other great bands that were featured on the soundtrack. We got into rock and hip hop and even started bands because of it. It influenced our appearance because we wanted to dress like our favorite game "character". All this stuff wasn't as accessible as it is today - you couldn't just order a board from Amazon and have it delivered home to you or look up tons of bands on Spotify or RU-vid. All of this you really needed to specifically look for, and these games opened up a whole new world and a lifestyle for us and really had an impact on youth culture back then which I am very grateful of! It is really not an exaggeration to say that this game series was a very important part in our lives!
THPS1 and 2, man thats all my teenage years, playing non stop and then meeting my friend at the skatepark. I am 40 now, I dont skate or play video games anymore, but this makes me want to come back to it...
I grew with the originals and learned about skate culture, skaters and really cool music... Now I can learn about these new pro skaters added to the game killing it while I enjoy the memories with the old ones... wow... this remake its just amazing!
Was playing the playstation 2 version and saw the remake. Bought it and love all the improvement made to it. Really nice graphics and controls! Thank you!
I remember livin through this. Skating was MASSIVE. So good to be able to have lived outside all day skating before the internet really kicked in and turned the younger gen from kids who would be outside enjoying life to selfie obsessed narcissistic screen addicts with horrible self esteem issues. Social media is aids
I was 7 years old when I first played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. Got myself a skateboard. Learned absolutely no tricks as I sucked at it and we as kids rather played soccer. Meanwhile I stopped playing the games. But now with this remaster (16 years later for me). It feels like coming home. What a masterpiece.
I started skating because of thps. Nowadays i am 36 years old and still go skate from time to time. When i see a stairset or a curb i still visualize tricks, simply cannot unsee it. This game was genuinely life-changing for me.
I played the original back in the day with my brothers and friends like crazy. Very long days and nights. My Parents hated it because we never left the house anymore. I stumbled across the Remastered Version just the other day and i love it. Its just so beautiful to look at. Awesome soundtrack which just takes u back and so much fun to play just like back in the day 🤘👍✊🤙
So happy my daughters r playing it right now n they love it the same way me n my cousin loved it back in the day and i can tell they already wanting a skateboard 👍
Been skating 15 years strong since thp2, thug Was my favourite though, I'm buying this game right now, big respect to Tony Hawk, all the other skaters and the game developers. Thanks for making my life awesome af!!
I had all the games for my modded Playstation when I was a kid with no money and as a 35 year old adult it was my pleasure to go and buy the remake for Playstation 4 and live it again. I had so many moments of dejavu as I somehow recalled where the hidden tapes were and old combos came back to me. The series is an absolutely legendary feature in my teenage memories and an awesome job was done bringing it back in 2020 when we needed something awesome more than ever.
So cool that I just started skating again and this remake comes out in the same year. I swear I remember mentioning a little while back that I wished they would just do a straight up remake of the original THPS games and then like a week later I found out that they were! Can’t wait to play this!🤙🏼 #Nostalgia
Ngl, I love watching people skate and I appreciate the art on the boards. Plus the courage it takes to do those tricks even with the risk of injuring yourself. I seriously respect the fuck out of these people. I can't imagine myself doing this insane shit, but I really respect and love these people for the stuff they do. It's truly an art form.
