Hmm, I'll have to try this. Although I'd not want to lose the kick bass so maybe the mid tom would sound better as the bass. I'll give it a go next time

I hear you because the kick drum is one of the primary reasons I bought this drum kit as a 20 something in the 90s who do you know cut his teeth on club music that used that type of sound, i.e. Fun Factory, Real McCoy, La Bouche, etc. dumping the kick drum really kinda hurts lol. But as I said, I do typically sample this stuff off here so when of happening is, I’ll end up making my drum kit, and then adding something like this on there now the part about using the reason for using the primarily… As you can see just looking at the dashboard so to speak, it has a full range of knobs and controls for that sound that’s why I went for the kick drum. I’ve actually thought of doing a 808 and 909 ala rebirth. Basically giving myself two drum kits to play with we could even throw the RD six in there. If we really want to… And all drum track and just try and find ways to tweak the heck out of all the sounds. The other thing, though is that the way I’m doing this here could be accomplished with a pedal because the RD- does have all those out on the back. so each drum could technically be processed by external effects which that might be an insane video to make… Especially the texture lab by Sonicware adding granular synthesis capabilities to it… I think I smell a new video coming on gotta go. Don’t forget to subscribe if you’re interested in seeing this lol take care.

Lol, don’t make me twist your arm or anything ha ha ha. It’s a good drum machine. I love the build of it. I just wish that it was a one drum machine to rule them all scenario where it was like that build with different machines in it because having all these drum machines is just taking up too much damn room lol. But the 909 is the one I lusted after will say coming out of the 90s and when I finally had the opportunity to get one had to.

Hey thanks I actually never got around to make the second part of that video with the 808 I might do that today lol so keep an eye out. I appreciate the compliment! Hope to see you in the comments. Have a great day.

I just ordered this and the Korg Drumlouge. I don’t care if it sounds authentic to a 909, at all! I have a Boss DR880 (I feel is the best drum machine ever made, still!), I have 770 and a Roland SH4D, Komplete Collectors, all the POs, almost, the Blackbox, the SP404 mk2, a pretty sizable modular set up, 2600, Kronos, Nautilus, you get the idea! I wanted to put together the ultimate rhythm set up I could! I love the Dreadbox sound so I have all of their stuff too. My point is this video is exactly the way I see it! Use them in every way possible!

Thank you very much! Wicked happy you liked it and yes twist the knobs till the cry hahaha!! These machines are a lot more capable than they are given credit for being. I’d love to hear what you make with that setup!! Sounds wicked fun!!

ya, I kinda discovered that, but you have shown a deeper side/possibilities. the question is, when something is recorded, does it retain the pitch at the moment of the record instance and keep it when you do an additional instance . I have to pull mine out to try it. just curious .if you took it that far
@Cap10NRGMusic
@Cap10NRGMusic 4 месяца назад
Not sure what you’re asking if the recording has the same pitch as it was when I created originally? Are you saying are the pitches the same that if I moved the knob to the same location roughly the pitch will be the same? If that’s the question, then the answer is , yes close I mean you can get close. It’s analog so it’s kind of hard to be exact. There’s a lot you can do with it though I mean and if you’re willing to bring it to a sampler you can go totally crazy.

I'm on a mission to get my Yamaha DTX E-set to send individual analog pad signals into my mixer into my DAW. The closest I got to this was via midi but the midi signal is too inconsistent. My question is...will this machine accept the midi input signal from my DTX and separate each signal to then send the analog individual outs?

OK, sorry I had to do some research to determine what you were trying to do. I apologize. I’m not familiar with a lot of the drum kits. I have one, but I barely use it and when I do, it’s generally just as a trigger scenario for some other type of drum Machine or sampler on my PC that has a drum kit on it. OK in theory the DTX drum kits should be able to send MIDI to any module and have that module trigger samples or drums from it. That being said it sounds to me like you’re trying to take the drums that are coming out of your existing drum brain and separate those audio signals. That would not work you could use the drum pads on that drum kit to trigger each of the drum sounds on the Behringer RD9 or RD8 and play them with a live type scenario where you were playing the drums for real and it was coming out as a 909, or an 808 however, if you’re trying to use the drum sounds, you have which is what it kind of sounds like you’re trying to do and get them to come out of the individual audio out on the drum machine in this video then no that will not work. If you understood this and I’m totally misunderstanding what you’re asking then I really apologize. I’ve had some questions that I thought I understood and it turned out. Something was totally different in what the person was asking. But just in case I’m telling you, it’s not an audio separator type scenario. If you want something like that where you could get multiple drum kits with separate outs, I’m sure there are other modules that might be more versatile then theRD9 (since it is just one drum kit ).

Now, if this is exactly what you want to do using the RD nine as your primary kit… What you will need to do is program your drum kit‘s “brain“ to send all of its signals to channel 10, which should be standard and already configured, but just thought I’d mention that. And then what you will need to do is figure out which Notes each drum is triggered by. It shouldn’t be difficult. I can actually help you with that if you’d like I don’t know what they are off the top of my head because I usually just use the drum machine as it is. But once you’ve got all that you should be able to configure your drum machine And your drum kit to work together. As far as the mid signal being spotty or not working quite right, I would say try another cable because I’ve found that the mini on this device is very good and I haven’t used Yamaha drum kits, except for the one that I have that’s all in one unit, which is very basic compared to what you’ve got going on… But I have had no problems sinking other samples off of the triggering samples from it so I think maybe it’s a bad cable. Hopefully it’s not a bad port… Could be a dirty port… If it is a dirty port, I can recommend some cans of cleaning spray that you would want to use to spray in there and clean out the connectors… Could have oxidization, or corrosion on the port… It happens overtime and is easy to fix. It’s like a $15 can of cleaning spray and if you need new mini cable Amazon has them very inexpensively as well. I think they even have an Amazon basics Midi cable.

First...thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, everything is brand new, so no bad cord or connections to replace or clean. The issue I was having with the midi was the sensitivity of the pads versus the signal I was recording. But essentially I was able to record all 8 individual tracks simultaneously live via midi...but as I said, it just wasn't the same as playing & recording live. I guess you'd have to hear it to get it. But I did have to map all 8 signal out & in to do that and in that respect the DTX brain is very versatile. So I just went back to recording live stereo onto one track and there in lies my dilemma. I have no individual control in final mix. Everything has to be prefect going in...AND...even then you may encounter anomalies or even clashes with other instrument within the tune & mix. Which is where it would be great to be able to bring up or pull back say the snare, or kick, or cymbals, etc. separately, like you would do if you recorded an acoustic drum set via analog thru. Hope that makes more sense. I think you have answered my question, but just to recap...instead of forking out $3K for an E-Drum module that has 8 analog outs...I'm thinking the RD8 or 9 may just work. I realize of course the only link is midi to the RD. Here's the biggie, and I think you answered it above. So from my DTX module midi out, the RD midi in will allow me to assign each individual pad signal [going in]...to each individual pad signal of the RD and then 8 separate RD analog outs to my mixer/DAW? Also...yes I know I will not get the sounds from the DTX but that's not the issue. I can get great sounds from any of the current modules. To be honest...I'm not really that happy with what the DTX offers. Just a short back story...I'm retired & in my twilight years and my final mission is to remaster the four albums I've recorded in the past forty years. I'm half way thru album #1 which I recorded 40 years ago on a Tascam 80-8. Thru the past few years I re-recorded some drum tracks on my trusty SR-16. But now I'm in a new place with double the space for my studio, so I wanted to see if I could re-do some of those old drum tracks. The versatility of E-Drums seemed the answer...and for the most part this DTX6 kit has worked out just fine for my needs. I don't know your drumming back round, but the feel, dynamics, and soul you get from striking a stick to a drum just cannot be gotten from a box. But if this box will do what I need, it will make me a happy man! Let me know. @@Cap10NRGMusic

All bets are off...This AM I decided to listen to some vids of the RD's and I didn't hear any of them make any real drum sounds. So not the sounds I need. I am going to go back and rehash the midi side of my module. Either way...I have to keep moving forward...the clock is tickin. Worst case...I'm real close on my stereo mixes and I've actually already got some keepers. It just would have been nice to find a piece of gear that did what I need...Thanks.

@stevend984 I do have a solution if you want something that you can hook up to your drum machine by midi and get individual drums out to a track recording each of them as individual drums each with it’s on mono audio track. It’s not a cheap solution, but it would work… If you get an MPC and a focus right 8i20… you can plug the focus right into the back of the MPC and it becomes the audio out for the MPC giving you eight audio out jacks. Since the MPC is inherently a drum machine, you can load up your 16 samples or whatever you want and put them to the eight different audio tracks. If you need more than eight, you can hook up a second output on it and get up to 16 individual out tracks.
