I have the Jasper DIY Wasp Clone which I built and was argued in the forums that Behringer copied. The ENH waveform stands for "Enhanced" and IS PWM. These are pulse width modulated square waves, controlled by simple fixed 0.3Hz LFOs - the same as implemented on the Gnat’s single oscillator.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about the gnat oscillator.

@@RunningonairMusic I thought everyone knew ENH is the PWM ?

Apart from the original gnat, I'm not sure the term has been used anywhere else. Although in the end, it's a case of RTFM.

So we should be able to get a Hoover type patch with it having pwm ?

Enh is also on the Neutron, but is possibly different as it's waveform is more complex than simple PWM.

The ENH was the PWM on the OSCar, which was made by the same guys. So I guess they wanted to pay homage to that synthesizer, although it's only confusing.

After when you posted this video, 2 years ago, you probably know what ENH means now lol. The Behringer Wasp has been for ages now been my GOTO for fat bass sounds. I have a Roland Jd-xi and love it as a Groovebox style synth (I have an MC-303 as well), I think everyone that agrees that has one realises that it lacks in Analogue capabilities. This fills the gap for me
@RunningonairMusic

Yeah, I have a similar role for it in my setup.

I assumed "enh" was short for "enhanced" as a means of describing PWM on the Gnat

does it found like a wasp? i’ve played the real thing and i always feel like i’ve gotten electrostatics shock after playing it. there’s no point buying this if it’s just another new subtractive synth, but it it stings like the real wasp then i really would want it. what confuses me is that they used digital oscillators? maybe to gain control over tuning? i am worried, now they’ve announced the polyvoks that they’ll “tame” that too? that would suck. the polyvoks is like a raging beast!
@setphaser

i have an avant- garde improv gig coming up in september, drone with a few pedals sounds perfect! maybe i’ll get this little beast after all.
@RunningonairMusic
@RunningonairMusic 3 года назад
Yes, it does sound exactly like how I remember the wasp. The Wasp always had a lot of digital in it. that's why it was cheap and had a membrane keyboard. I think the oscillators are just digitally controlled, but there's no CPU or software driving anything. It's just logic gates.
@RunningonairMusic
@RunningonairMusic 3 года назад
yeah, I reckon you could do quite a lot with that.

true@@zdave6083 yes that is true. I own an original for 30 years . Out of the clones the wasp is probably the one that sounds least like the original. But it is a pretty good entry level mono synth, just sounds like something else.

Another overcooked review. No need for Oscilloscopes and all that stuff and nonsense. If you like the sound it makes, and it makes you happy - it's for you. (It's not a 'Drone Machine" by any means - It's a very versatile 2 Synth)

I bought one, had it 3 months, sold it. Missed it. Bad. 18 months later: I bought one again. I’m not ever letting it go. For a monophonic entry level synth? You can’t beat it for the price. Just wish the one knob on far left was a slider, like all other synths. Wish it had more spread too. It doesn’t even go up or down by one octave. Virtually useless. Everything else?: A fakken plus!
