The dames are easy to look at and can sing too. The band is tight...tight...tight. Wow! The music of my mom and dad. How I miss them and this music. Thanks for the video.
This is soooo incredibly fantastic. Hard to believe that we "nowadays" have anything this well arranged, played, sung and performed. Thank you EVER so much, Pete Jacobs, and all the brilliant musicians of the great band and the wonderful, beautiful singers of the trio. 😃 😃 😃
What a great band plus their timing is flawless just like the well known bands of yore. A real treat and respite from the current pop music we are occasionally forced to endure. Great harmony on the part of the ladies also
As a musician with almost 60 years experience I can say from personal experience how hard it is to go from slow to fast gradually and keep it together. This also goes to show that great music just doesn't go away, it's not disposable like so much of the drek we are now subjected to. This band is a great band. I love 'em.
As far as I can tell, the audio is a studio recording, not a live show. It's sort of a music video, so you're not actually watching them perform live in this one. They're great performers nevertheless.
Just discovered this band recently and they are fantastic. The musicians are virtuosos, their arrangements swing better than the originals. The singers sound great and like the original Andrews Sisters look like the girls next door. Would love to hear them live one day.
excellent it's 2022 are they still around I wasn't born yet but this era of music is one of my favorites Glenn miller's music is the greatest the Andrew sister women looked classy not easy in the way they dressed and women in the military never received the recognition they deserved even to this day would love to see them in 2022
It means, "BY me, you are beautiful" as in, As far as I'm concerned, you're beautiful., regardless of what everyone else says. Not exactly what every girl wants to hear, but there it is, and when delivered with a Yiddish accent 90 years ago, it made sense.
Not typically my type of Music, but I must say: Great team here, great songs. Can't get enough of the Brunettes eye expressions, very memorizing and in her entirety she is a complete captivating Gem.
The German song title is misspelled. It's "Bei Mir Bist Du Schön" or if you don't have umlauted letters, you can use "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen". I know the song originally came from a Yiddish musical and spelled differently, but Yiddish is similar to German and the title was reworked for the Andrews Sisters song.
This gals with heavenly voices, is what this country needs to get through this Pandemic and we shall win, LONG LIVE PETER JACOBS AND WARTIME RADIO REVUE.
Really love listening to this. My kind of music any day! Dynamic band and beautiful singers (voice and dynamism). Thanks for posting this. I've subbed and hope I see more!
From arthur, i am always going about this band, they are tip top. When all of this is over( corona) janice and myself are coming to America to see these live.
Bei Mir Bistu Shein " (Yiddish: בײַ מיר ביסטו שיין , [ˌbaj ˈmir ˌbistu ˈʃejn], "To Me You're Beautiful") is a popular Yiddish song written by Jacob Jacobs (lyricist) and Sholom Secunda (composer) for a 1932 Yiddish language comedy musical,
Apparently Jayme is no longer with the band, nor is Heather Richardson. The most recent videos (done during the coronavirus quarantine) do not show either one of them, and comments are disabled. Does anyone know what happened to them?

Because most of the people that heard the Andrews Sisters are Boomers. They are familiar with Big Band sounds. Gen X (born after 1965) on up don't know A from B unless they are doing research.IMO Regards
@@raymondfrye5017 I'm a boomer, and I would have never heard of them if not for my dad and aunts who were in their 20's and 30's during WWII when this music was hot. I was born in '52 and grew up on late '50's and '60's rock. The Andrews Sisters were from the '40's, pre-boomer, more like the swing era.
@@jimvandemoter6961 I'm also a boomer from 1952. I grew up in the US with Rock and Roll;some Latino thrown in. I first heard Big Bands on the radio when my Dad would turn it on. It was real radio, and not what we have today. Regards
@@raymondfrye5017 My dad was a great singer, and his two sisters both had great record collections that covered everything from Baroque to modern jazz. In fact, one of them had season tickets to the Detroit Symphony so I was exposed to a wide variety from as far back as I can remember.
@@jimvandemoter6961 Detroit Symphony? Well , I see you've had greater exposure to really good music. I was a child at ,then,Selfridge AFB 1956. I only had Armed Forces Radio and Television Service plus Local radio and television: New Orleans,Detroit, Fla. Later,1959, it was Japan,Philippines and Australian Radio. My Dad enjoyed greatly different types of music: Big Bands,etc.. Apparently, Detroit's upper crust faded away @ 1965. I don't know what happened after that (beginnings of white flight). Regards
I just discovered Pete Jacobs this evening, and like you, I am hooked. Fantastic band + singers. If you like 40s music, there's no one better than the Jacobs band!
An alltime classic sure 'nuff buuuut: The title is "Bei mir bist Do (du) Schön". Stoe(h)n - sounds like a (non existant) adjective derived from stöhnen - to moan... ;D
Love this song. I have heard many renditions and my favorite version is by Ms. Janis Siegel. However, I truly loved your rendition. Thank you that was great
First heard this song while watching a RU-vid video on the video game Bioshock as it is a soundtrack song. After I found out the name, searched for it and here I am! This song has grown on me, even though it's older than my own parents. LOL
Great but I wished the women sounded like women and not little girls, and stopped sliding on so many notes; creating appoggiaturas where there shouldn't be any. The lady who sings solo at 2:18 sings with much pressure, creating that forced sound one makes with a valsalva maneuver. The Andrews Sisters sung with much more of the voice itself, much more tone, and keeping strict with the notation and actually knew how to create harmony when they sung together, sometimes singing the same notes, sometimes the notes a tone or so apart. Not so here... The musicians are fantastic! but I'm sorry to say that the singers leave a lot to be desired. Stopping singing like little girls and sliding on the notes would be a HUGE difference.
Of all the boys I've known, and I've known some Until I first met you, I was lonesome And when you came in sight, dear, my heart grew light And this old world seemed new to me You're really swell, I have to admit you Deserve expressions that really fit you And so I've racked my brain, hoping to explain All the things that you do to me Bei mir bist du schön, please let me explain Bei mir bist du schön means you're grand Bei mir bist du schön, again I'll explain It means you're the fairest in the land I could say bella, bella, even sehr wunderbar Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are I've tried to explain, bei mir bist du schön So kiss me and say you understand Bei mir bist du schön, you've heard it all before But let me try to explain Bei mir bist du schön means that you're grand Bei mir bist du schön, it's such an old refrain And yet I should explain It means I am begging for your hand I could say bella, bella, even sehr wunderbar Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are I could say bella, bella, even sehr wunderbar Each language only helps me tell you how grand you are I've tried to explain, bei mir bist du schön So kiss me and say that you will understand
Це ж: Київер трамвай!!! P.S. Купила курочку и с маком булочку, четьіре пончика, два пирожка. Ой, Боже мой, а я спешу домой, Абраша мой сегодня вьіходной. P.S. Привет всем киевлянам!!! )))
Eigentlich muss es heißen: Bei mir bist du schön (schoen). Stoen zumindest mit h: Stöhn ist eher anstößig! Aber toller Song! Actually it should be: Bei mir bist du schön (schoen). At least with h: stöhn is rather offensive! But great song!
