@@paulcarey1708 I was explaining the Chinese runner performance. Since people were omitting that crucial information. One of the Kenyan runner said he entered as a pacemaker. And said: “My agent from Kenya told me that I am going to China to help the Chinese break the national record". The African runners were not listed as pacemakers by the race organizers though so entirely the committee faults.

They were probably warned by the government to let the Chinese guy win, because if not they might have had an “accident” after the finish line. Either that or they were payed a substantial sum to get that equal second place.

The Kenyans were hired to be pacers for the Chinese runner in order for him to break a Chinese speed record(he failed) but for one, just like most marathons and elite events they do not allow pacers to also be participants and two you especially cannot have another team of participants being your pacers... The whole point is to have teams compete against eachother, not join forces to dominate all the other teams or let eachother win. It's unsportsmanlike and that's exactly why they were all disqualified! You're the one spreading misinformation, champ.

No, the runners ARE all from Africa. Reporter says one is from Kenya, didn’t say what country the other 2 are from. But them having no “kick” in a HALF marathon that would keep the Chinese runner from winning? What a joke. Wonder how much of the race he ran…
Sometimes kindness, and sportsmanship, comes in the form of humility. I was a national caliber wrestler and instead of destroying some of my less experienced opponents, I’d let them hit some moves and score some points. I received more thanks in those moments, than winning major tournaments. Just my two cents.
So, three Kenyan runners let the Chinese guy win a medal because they loved the rice and noodles? Giving up first place is not the same as letting someone hit some points.

@@ajaxfire When you’ve won about every race out there, set most every world time record, and are sitting on the pinnacle of the proverbial mountain…the only thing you have left sometimes is kindness….which I see those three showed. If it was pre-planned, there wouldn’t have been any discussion or the one holding the others back. Maybe the guy has never won a major, maybe his family were there, no one knows but in my eyes, it was a great kindness.

I've watched a lot of athletics and it does appear that the African runners were acting a pacemakers for the Chinese runner. This is common practice for big races and the pacemakers are paid well to guide a runner for a record time. However, the Africans should have had "Pacer" on their uniform and not their names.
The main problem when you cheat or otherwise fix any game or situation is that when it comes time for real competition, you wont be ready for it and wont be able to compete. As far as investigations go - what investigative body operating in China (that is, allowed to operate in China) can be trusted to produce factual findings?
That was actually fun to watch. I can see the 3 straining to hold back and the runner beside the Chinese dude even motioning his hand a little like he wants to push the dude to go faster. Yes we all can see the fix was in. We just don't know the full story. I will say total respect to the 3. I won't be surprised if the winner joined the race the last mile.

There is nothing to investigate if the IAAF has some integrity then the will sanction all 4 runners with a year without competition, eliminate the Beijing marathon from the calendar for 2 years, fine the Chinese, Kenya and the other federations with a significant amount of money and banned any runner for those federations for competing in the next official 2 marathons. Make an official statement saying that this kind of behaviour is shameful and won't be tolerated.
Not really the Kenyan runners were paid pacemakers to try and help the Chinese guy break the Chinese record. They were not competing and there was a fourth Kenyan you don't see who had to drop out much further back after running out of steam setting the pace.
I was a marathon runner. Not even closed to this time but China didnt have any pacer with a time of one hour and a half wich means no Chinese runner could run this time. This looks so bad for everyone.

It's not that they don't know, it's that they think _we_ don't know. They think their audience thinks Kenya and Jamaica are right next to each other so they don't even bother with details.
