@@samhighfield one example in a quick story the director wanted to try a new, unplanned view angle, with a 200mm f5.6 in front of a greenscreen. no way to see any markers or usefull infos for tracking. I notice him that we should not shoot it as we will not use this shot, he insist and force the crew to do it. I've negociated to do an alternative "by safety" (i know that the safety will be the only one used, we just loosed 1h30 ) the crew is unhappy but still do it.Several months later, the director cames to me "glad we did your shot ! seems that mine wasn't working... " I was like "dude, really ? "
@@dothefilmTV nice move shooting 'a safety', some excellent ego management of the director there! I often think of setting a stop watch to see how much time is lost when the director / DOP do not follow our advice.... then later on they come around to see we were right all along.
