I have three issues:One: Lantus insulin - see the article: 'Lantus: Lethal or Saviour' - an accidental intravascular injection can cause rapid hypoglycaemia - and as the dose given would be a one to approx a half dose to cover 12 to 24 hours the actual dosage could be relatively large - yes, the same accidental intravascular dose could happen with rapid acing insulin but the dose is likely smaller. Also this phenomenon with Lantus does not happen with Levemir or Tresiba insulins because of their difference chemical structure. (and Lantus drug information (and for similar insulins) no special warning is given). Two: On low carb diet my Levemir insulin dose requirement is low enough that its effect on my bsl does not last 12 hours on a bd dose regime - I have to go to 8 hourly except that my bsl drops too much after a 12 mn dose, that I need to split the 12 min dose to 12 mn and 4 am before the 8 am dose in order to deal with Dawn phenomenon.Three: In other talks the use of sweet hypo remedies was mentioned - coca-cola etc - I have had sufficient hypos over 57 years to now be leery of taking in any sucrose or fructose - it is egregious enough that excess glucose can damage my liver, via polyol pathway in particular but also the unnecessary and ineffective for hypos addition of fructose is a bridge too far and I am adamant that educating young diabetics and their parents to use sucrose/fructose containing hypo remedies is a potential recipe for disaster. Such education needs prompt and definitive correction. Also it is bad enough that repetitive glucose will cause dental problems but sucrose/fructose causes more such problems.

Keep in mind that many following Very low carb/high protein diets who use Regular human insulin "R" can do high blood glucose corrections intramuscular which speeds it up greatly. Bernstein gives information for doing these kinds of injections. It is still slower than doing rapid by IM but doing this I only need two insulin types, not three.

Where can I get a copy of all the Type 1 info for conference. The site won't let me register. I don't mine paying. But would like to listen to them. Type1 48 years low carb/Bernstein/keto/ketovore/Carnivore last 30 years. First 18 years ADA now 68 and paying for first 18 years. Parents don't listen the damage starts and continues over the years even when you finally see the truth.

At 57 years on insulin there were no thoughts of dilution of insulin from when I was diagnosed at age 13, no way to measure bsl at home, old insulins etc - I had to increase insulin doses as urine sugars test increased until up to twice to 2.5 x usual insulin dose before with the growth spike would petered out BUT I had to reduce insulin doses quickly as hypos started to occur!!
