I've recently bought a 1988 BMW R45, with some little modifies in a perfect cafe-racer style. I think this helmet is literally PERFECT for this kind of bikes. Great work bell!
Nice. Got Shoei 1100 but I would've gotten this if it came out earlier. Hipster bashing aside, it's good to have diversity in styles in the motorcycle world for those of us not leathered up on Harleys or roaring around on sports bikes. It's a growing market.
LOVE IT. You haters can just wear your Power Rangers outfits and go ride like the Squids that you are. For those of us that grew up on MAD MAX this is GNARLY!!! Old School with modern safety and comfort!
RevZilla Right on! And I shouldn't even get into "who is cooler than who." To each his own! Keep up the great Videos and customer service, RevZilla. But I love this style, Toe Cutter would approve!!!
Thanks for making this great review, I have tried a lot of full face helmets & this is the only one that I don’t feel claustrophobic best helmet I ever had
Ozgur Ustuner, the Bell Star Classic you're referring to is not a motorcycle helmet. It is designed for auto racing. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.smf.org/standards/sa/SA2010/sak2010_final
Hah! That would fit my look but I don't like the off-white. Need it in pure white. ;) I like that the Bell sticker can be removed. Those peeps you're describing Anthony are 'Hipsters' haha. :) I do love the styling and the options to go down that path. I think the Hipster style on bikes is fun, even though I rock a custom NASA-themed suit of my own design (made by Z-Custom).
Picked up one of these bad boys today to go with my CB. Went out for a quick ride and now I'm absolutely loving it! Note that it is a bit noisier than most modern helmets tho due to the lack of chin curtain and visor seal
Just bought a Harley SuperNova helmet. Couldn’t find any reviews or anything on it. Then did some research. And found out it’s a Bell Bullitt with an ass kickin paint job. Didn’t know that Harley used other companies products?🤔
I'm in the market for my first helmet since I'm looking to get a classic Honda. I love this look but I think if it had a transition lens it would be prefect.
I agree. A transition lens on the Bullitt would be nice. Bell, I hope you're listening! Austin R. If you have any gear questions, give us a ring at 1-877-792-9455 or email us at cs@revzilla.com. Have a great weekend! -Hi-Viz Brian P.S. - What Honda are you buying?
Something like a 1973 Honda CB 350. I'm really picky with motorcycles and find that look to be the only one I like so far. I just need something for short drives when I don't feel like driving a car. Thanks for your quick response. I can tell you really want to help out people with this.
Austin R. Unfortunately, the Transitions SOLFX ClickRelease shields only work with the Star, Vortex, RS-1, Qualifier and Revolver helmets. When you find your CB 350, you have to send us some pictures (cs@revzilla.com). We definitely want to help and I appreciate you posting your questions. I am on RU-vid almost everyday so if you have any other questions, give me a shout. -Hi-Viz Brian
As usual Anthony knocks it out of the park !!!! I'm sure this company is rated as one of the best companies in the US to work at. Everything these guys do is top drawer. Anthony you need to hire me full time to count your money although I don't know if I can count that high!! Top of the mountain!!!!
I really wanted to like this helmet, the field of view is amazing and its the best I've seen in a full face. I tried it on today at a local dealer and it was the most painful thing I've ever put on my head. I tried on the small but it folded my ears down and it hurt a lot. So then I tried the medium but it was super loose and still folded my ears down but I was able to fold them back up by sticking my fingers in through the sides. I don't even have big ears, I've always though they were rather small.
After a lot of research I have narrowed my choices down to 2 helmets. I would love to see a side by side comparison of the Bell Bullitt vs the Biltwell Gringo S. Which sits lower on the head? Which better fits an intermediate oval head shape? Which is more comfortable? Which is less expensive? Which are you selling more of? Does either offer a transition shield? Do both offer the same safety ratings? Would like to see a shot of them both from the side view. Can the lining be removed for cleaning? ... etc.
fivefootsixtriumph Both fit about the same in terms on how low on the head. Neither is a perfect intermediate oval though. The Bell is slightly narrow, and the Biltwell is slightly round. That being said, I have a true intermediate oval head (Shoei RF-1200, GT-Air, Neotec, Arai Corsair V, Scorpion EXO-R2000 all fit me well in size medium), and I can wear both the Bullitt and Gringo S in medium too. As for price, the Gringo S is less expensive with its polycarbonate shell, but the padding is plush, so it fits a lot of people pretty well. The Bell uses a more expensive fiberglass shell but the liner is a bit thinner, so it doesn't accommodate as many variations in head shape. Neither offers a Transitions shield at all, but both meet the same DOT rating, both sell well, and both have removable liners for cleaning. -DrewZilla P.S. I'll see what I can do about photos!
@@RevZilla Thank you for the response. First, I ordered Bell Star - pain in the temples and I could put a finger between my forehead and the shell, then I ordered Bell Bullit and I can't put a finger between the forehead and the shell but I still feel a pain in my temples. I've got a naked type bike waiting for me, which closed helmet would you recommend to me?
Super excited to get this helmet, im thinking the gloss black with that nice brown interior would be great, especially to complete the cafe racer style of my BMW R nine T. I do have a question though, I've read complaints that the fit is way too snug around the ears? To the point of people saying that it actually caused damage to their ears!
Congrats on your R nineT! The fit will depend on your head and face shape. I found it to fit slightly round, which doesn't work well with my egghead. If the Bullitt doesn't fit you well, give us a call and we will set you up for a return. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/returns
Hello love the helmet reviews You guys are putting in. I was wondering if your channel could do a review on the hedon helmets especially the heroine Classic and heroine racer edition. Hope You guys are Able to do reviews on the helmets done by hedon such as build, fit and comfort, noise levels as well the ventilation for the full Face edtions.
Unfortunately, Hedon helmets aren't available to us, so we're unable to review them. Of course, if we do start carrying them, we'd review them. -DrewZilla
I had a Bullitt in M but my size usually is S, it was too tight at first so i thought i had the correct size by sizing up. But after a year or two, it became too loose that I can even pull the chin bar down and the top part of the helmet would reach my nose. Sold it. Planning to buy another one, should I get the small instead?
Depends on how the first Small fit on you when you say it was "too tight at first". A proper fitting helmet should be snug so the break in period doesn't create the same issue as your Medium did. But something that is so tight to not be able to focus on riding isn't very helpful either. Might be good to go to a shop and sit with a Small on for 10-15 minutes to see which side of that you are on. If the Small is too tight, you might just need to shop for a different helmet with a different fitment altogether.
Hey Tony & gang, how are ya! Love this and the Icon Ghost/s. Tell Bell to put the same yellow shield on this, will ya 8) P.s. & mat black on the outside, brown leather on the inside...
Hi! I just bought a Bell Bullitt Size M and the fit is great but would want a better 'snug fit' since there is a slight give to the sides. What cheek replacement size should I get?
Renzsu These two helmets have similar intermediate oval internal shapes, but they aren't exactly the same. If you are XL in the Chaser, I recommend XL in the Bullitt as well. -DrewZilla
I've been wearing the Bell custom 500 size M. Is the fit the exact same in the Bullitt or should I go a size up? 7 1/8 hat size. So I'm right on the edge. Plus I wear glasses so squeezing them into position is a tight fit already.
Ricardo Cortes Quinn was wearing the Roland Sands Hesher II in Khaki, and you can get it from RevZilla! -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/roland-sands-hesher-ii-jacket
Excellent video Anthony, always on top of your game 👍 I bought a Riot in size medium that fits me perfectly. will medium in a Bullit be the same ? Thank you much 🤝 I am inspired by this Helmet because of a French Reviewer who wore it while riding a CB1000-R which I have. It is a brand new 2019 1 that I bought in 2020 cash, it was on sale for $10,000. Got it out the door for $10,760 😎 the video I am talking about is on RU-vid under the title: CB1000R MotorLive 👍
Does anyone know of any other full face helmet with as much peripheral vision as the Bullit? I have one but noise is high. Peripheral vision is better than anything I've seen and that is a very important feature to me.
It's unlikely. I wear an RX-Q as well, and the Bullitt is too narrow for my head. The Nexx XG100 and Biltwell Gringo S would be better options for fit. -DrewZilla *rvz.la/NexxXG100 *www.revzilla.com/biltwell-gringo-helmets
Yes, in your case, you can. Liners are interchangeable only within the same shell size, but luckily size medium and large share the same shell. Therefore, you can get the size medium top liner and cheek pads. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bell-bullitt-2017-top-liner *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bell-bullitt-cheek-pads
The large is a little but too small for me (it hurts my temples), and the XL is too big... Can I buy a large and put a smaller liner in it to have it fit?
No. Size large shares its shell with size medium, and size XL shares its shell with 2XL. You can only swap liners within each shell size, so medium with large and XL with 2XL. That changes the helmet a full size though. It doesn't change things a half size. If size large is too tight and XL too loose, then the Bullitt isn't a good helmet for you. You might consider the Biltwell Gringo S instead. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/biltwell-gringo-helmets
I wear a small in the bell qualifier, and the gringo s. Is the bullitt a similar fit to both the qualifier and gringo s? Basically trying to figure out if I need to go small or xs. Having a small headsucks
Jason Kinney No, they haven't made any changes to the helmet since launch. The potential whistling is more a result of riding position and bike, so it's not inherent in the helmet itself. -DrewZilla
Jason Kinney There isn't a general riding style that makes it whistle. What I intended is that helmet noise can be caused by a lot of factors, such as rider height, riding position, windscreens, lack of windscreens, and even jackets can affect how air moves around the head. The main focus of the Bullitt is its retro look. If you want a quiet yet well-venting helmet, you may need to consider a modern-looking lid like the Shoei RF-1200. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/shoei-rf-1200-helmets
Hi I am looking to get size small but I worry that's it might be too tight. Should I get a medium instead and get ticker pads? Does the small and medium share the same shell size?
No, they are in two different shells, because the breakdown is XS-S, M-L, and XL-2X. While cheek pads are interchangeable across all helmet sizes, the head liners can only be swapped within the same shell. Unfortunately, you cannot make a size small larger around the crown, nor can you make size medium tighter around the crown of the head. The key is to get the fit correct around the crown of the head and then swap cheek pads if necessary. Remember that a helmet is tightest the first time you put it on, but it gets looser over time. Therefore, you should aim to fit size small if you can. -DrewZilla *bit.ly/BellBullitHelmets
I find it to be a bit in between honestly. When our team went through and decided on fit for each helmet after this video came out, they felt it was closer in fit to other round oval helmets than to the majority of intermediate oval helmets. -DrewZilla
Can you please tell me what is the material that the trimming is made of? In other colors is chromed, but in the video is black, that's why I ask. Thanks in advance!
It hides the seam of the metal trim. Also, the trim isn't sealed anyway, so water can get come around in really heavy downpours. If you want a sealed visor, you might not want to get a retro-styled helmet. -DrewZilla
This helmet to me-looks beautiful, but its the noisiest.i even not hearing my double exhaust at the back, only heard wind noise..which im not enjoying the ride (im a new rider)...terrible decision.but its my fault not to check first..if u look for style & not riding above 120kmh then this helmet is for u..
+Odilon Scaramuzza No, like the Simpson Bandits, the vents on these helmets don't close, so there is nothing to stop rain from coming into your helmet. Look at any other helmet that has closing vents. -DrewZilla
i usually wear small helmets. but this helmet small hurts my ears putting on and off the helmet. is this normal? should i have gotten a medium instead?
As the vents are always open, yes, they can be a bit noisy. Unfortunately, there's little to do to quiet it down beyond wearing earplugs (which is recommended for any helmet). -DrewZilla
Hi RevZilla!! im thinking of buying from you guys this bell beauty but i have a head size of 22 3/4 , should i order the size M or L ? could you help me with this please?
If you have a narrower oval head shape, you should be able to fit size M. There isn't much "give" to the internal fit, so if it doesn't fit you in medium, it's possible size large might feel like a loose fit. -DrewZilla
+McMuffinFluffin The only ECE-rated versions of this helmet we have are the carbon fiber versions as well as the Barn Fresh graphic. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bell-bullitt-carbon-rsd-bagger-helmet *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bell-bullitt-carbon-helmet *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bell-bullitt-barn-fresh-helmet
That's a tough one. What kind of wind protection do you have on your bike? What kind of riding do you do? How fast do you ride? These will all factor into how quiet the helmet is. -Hi-Viz Brian
good morning friend, sorry I have a bell bullit the same but when I go to more than 120 km / hr the Flat Face Shield already vibrates a lot, it will be that I already need to replace it or so the helmet is driving a street glide, sorry my bad English hehe
Given the vintage/retro design, yes, the face shield is not as stable at very high speeds compared to a helmet designed for higher speed riding, e.g. any premium helmet with a spring-sealed face shield (Shoei, Arai, Scorpion, AGV, Shark, HJC, etc.). -DrewZilla
Give our Gear Geeks a call at 1-877-792-9455 or email at cs@revzilla.com. They've been logging miles in the Bullitt for months and are happy to answer any and all questions you might have. -Hi-Viz Brian
Hi! I am between the bell Bullitt or the Simpson Outlaw Bandit. Which one would you recommend me? I have a Harley Davidson bike. Thank you for your help!!
Both helmets are great options and would fit your ride. It would just come down to price point and style preference if you are between those two models. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to our Gear Geeks at 877.792.9455 or cs@revzilla.com. Ride safe, -Pat
And I actually had a follow up question. I was looking at this helmet, the RS 1, the star or the carbon RS 1. I am new rider getting a harley xl 1200x and will be riding all the time. For a short 20 minute commute for work and then for play. Do u recommend any of these helmets and if so... which for a new rider
Raul Barron I had the RS-1. IMO, it's one of the best helmets for the value. The optional Transitions SolFX Photochromic shield is great. The interior is very plush and comfortable. It also vents very well, which doesn't help with internal noise levels. I always recommend earplugs. I'd highly consider the Shoei RF-1200 as well. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/shoei-rf-1200-helmet-solid
Wow, I bet that's a fab-looking helmet.........on your MOPED. I wear a (current) Bell Star and love it. Had an M2 before that. I'm a Bell fan.....but the roller derby look doesn't work. :(
Joe Patton Well, you could find a money tree...or consider the Biltwell Gringo S! -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/biltwell-gringo-s-helmet *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/biltwell-gringo-s-spectrum-limited-edition-helmet *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/biltwell-gringo-s-checker-limited-edition-helmet
Joe Patton I started building streetfighters in HS in the early 90's out of wrecked 80's sportbikes. We would get an inexpensive (but safe) full-face helmets, paint it rattle can black (now called matte black) with left over bike paint, remove the visor, and use MX goggles for wind protection. I still use this technique for my urban lid (I live in SF). I get hordes of tech guys who are new to biking asking me where to get one on weekly basis. When I tell them what I did most seem truly disappointed. For reference I'm using a BILT I got for $49.00 and older goggles I already had (worth around $20.00). My urban retro lid is great for anything other than fast rides or touring. I have a Shoei RF1200 for that which is slightly more money than the Bullitt, but significantly better by any objective measure for absolutely anything motorcycle related. Cheers
Too bad Bell helmets are now your dime a dozen Chinese made helmets. They should of stayed in California. Just because they come out with their throwbacks looks doesn't take the fact that they sold their rights to offshore companies and no longer have the quality and reputation they had when they were made in the USA.
This helmet is shit in every regard do yourselves a favour and don’t buy one light and looks cool that’s about it only ok as a spring summer helmet it’ll keep your head cool because you get a hurricane amount of wind blow through it and it’s noisy as hell biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent on a helmet.
