I've spent a lot of summer vacation time in Bemidji, so enjoyed the program. I didn't realize that Dick Beardsley was such a a great promoter; the Chamber of Commerce should hire him. Also surprised the program didn't explain WHY he was a local legend, i.e., he was a great marathon runner in his younger days, perhaps best known for his amazing race against Alberto Salazar in the 1982 Boston Marathon that became the subject of a book, Duel in the Sun. Both runners broke both the (then) race and American marathon records with the fourth and fifth fastest times ever in the marathon all-time list.
Thank you for the kind words. I know, we simply ran out of time 9se what I did there?). I'm glad you made mention of that fact. He was such an awesome guy to work with!
I FISHED WITH THAT BEARDSLEY GUY. A couple summers ago my dad, brother and I went back to Bemidji( I grew up in Bemidji but moved to tx at 4th grade) and we went to a lake I think was called leech lake, but damn, we caught so many fish.
i am a police officer in Louisville ky..2 years till i retire...me and my wife HATE warm weather and have decided to move north to MN when i retire. we are startimg to research diffetent towns. this is a prospect for sure
Hey Brad! Thanks for keeping us safe and good luck with the retirement plans. Bemidji is an excellent option! It absolutely gets cold up there! I’ll be on the beach in the Caribbean if you need me! Keep me posted on your decision!
When in Bemidji, check out Roy's Comics & Games at 210, 3rd Street (or... turn right at Paul and Babe at Thord Street and go two blocks -- we're on the left!)
I look this town up after a 3 year-old boy was mysteriously vanished from his home out in the woods back in the 80s. Something took him be careful out in the woods especially forests with lakes or rivers. There are things out there that hunt humans
Misaabe families are in our forests for sure. Just like us though, some are good, some are bad. Either way, be situationally aware when in the woods up here.
I live in bemidji its a nice area there's lots to do.. If you got the money but they say the crime rates are high even tho we don't see much for crime around here the schools are good most teachers don't really care about you but there's the good ones, restaurants are decent most are really beautiful looking, bemidji lake when its covered in snow is fun to cross just gotta be care as the Mississippi runs through abd the ice isn't fully covered in thick snow, summer time is best time tons of swimming and fishing areas tons of trails to explore grass is green and plenty of wildlife to see.
