17:49 Mans literally said “food supply is almost infinite in the US Then says prices are controlled by supply & demand If supply is infinite, then why is food not free? Lol
17:48 “there’s grocery stores all over the place.” Yes, but like 90% of them fall under the same 3 corporate umbrellas and the products that they sell mostly come from 5 lol
He's a free market advocate, so believes will compete with Walmart hiking prices driving price down. Even if he knows that's not how it will work and ignore monopoly and market cartels exist, he will lie.
"Sure Walmart has run out of business every grocer within 80 miles of your town of 500 people, but that's not a monopoly. Just cash in your disability check and open your own supermarket to compete with them."
Me: Oh nooooo breadlines, what will I do??? Also me: *literally googling where I can go to the food bank again this week bc I cant afford to feed myself, knowing I will inevitably wait in line and am likely to receive bread*
I love how he says the food companies arent coluding on bread prices when up here in canada loblaws admitted to doing exactly that to add 1.50 to the price above its normal cost. You telling me that with the even more lax regulations down there they arent doing exactly that. Several of the stores listed in that investigation are american companies (like walmart)
Imagine that. The companies that rely on paying their workers slave wages don't like the mechanism that would change the situation to be more fair to workers.
A small group of financial investment firms have turned corporate board rooms into the business equivalent of an incestuous European royal house. How can we call these publicly traded corporations "competitors" when every single one is owned and governed by the same 20 asset management companies? The board members making these corporate decisions aren't competitors, they're coworkers.
We have it so bad here in PR 64oz of Milk: $3.97 120oz of Milk: $6.97 If I want to get an extra 8oz, I have to pay full dollar. It's rather obvious and clear as day that companies want to capitalize on wage growth people are having. But for some reason Orange Man think that Tarrifs are amazing.
I think that margin is supposed to be after all expenses which includes company dividends. It's misleading and that's on purpose, typical right-wing propaganda.
@@chronenojysk5107 The orange is smart. Tariffs are much easier sell since the average person in america isn't even taught what they are in school. Price control is also easy to bash because america is the land of temporarily embarrassed billionaires that wouldn't want to lose a dime when they make it big.
He’s in California so he doesn’t get it. Rent is often MORE expensive than a mortgage in the same area. Getting into a home means your rent is going towards your own value instead of some land lord
wait, he thinks JD Vance, the guy who is dragging down trump with every single thing he does or says like a tungsten anchor would do well against Walz? I think Ben just lost all credibility he had remaining, Trump is a monster but he at least brings an audience and can debate, Vance can't be left alone in a furniture store
Ben literally said at 31:37 that giving people money doesn't make them richer. He couldn't be more wrong. This is the same argument he uses to say that McDonald's cannot pay their workers more because burgers would go up in price, when in other nations they do get paid more and prices are the same or comparable (sometimes they're even lower).
If you print new money to give everyone $10 you cause inflation do nobody is richer. If you increase taxes to give everyone $10 then you are makimg the taxed people poorer to make the rest richer. Either way The government can't just create wealth
@@joelcoll4034 "Either way The government can't just create wealth" Depends on the government and the means in which they generate that money. Saudi Arabia - to appease their various tribes and internal fractions - basically just gives massive amounts of oil cash to their citizens. Norway does the same, the oil revenue goes straight into a fund to pay for social security. Which is why the average wealth in Norway is so high. There are various other ways, apart from using natural resources - to increase the wealth of your citizens.
@@joelcoll4034 You mean this one "If you print new money to give everyone $10 you cause inflation do nobody is richer. (...)" ? Yeah it is still there. But you have to sort comments by newest. Otherwise comments tend to not show up.
@@joelcoll4034 Except that isn't how this works under government regulated price control. What you describe is price gouging simply because corporations are able to do it, and even the tests with UBI completely disprove your assumptions. Even in the US, the COVID checks pulled so many out of poverty, only the most evil people would not want to continue that trend.
Benny boy definitely is scared of black women. He reminds me of one of my military friends, who is YT and told me that in 5th grade a heavy set black girl screamed on him, and he's been scared of black women ever since. LOL
23:15 bro but you literally think that would work, you currently have a tweet up saying "notably, nobody said crime" responding to candidates answering "What would you ban?"
31:46 at this point in Ben’s theory (if you wanted to opt-in from the start) wouldn’t you think “well now they’re setting price caps on some things so now random luxury goods can continue to skyrocket but gas and foods will at least be in check. The elastic goods gets stretched thin in price as the inelastic gets throttled. I can see how they’re not gaining many good faith fans and instead just a bunch of hateful people masquerading as into politics
Harris is not proposing price controls. Anti-price gouging is not price controls. Ben is straw-manning as usual and Hasan is falling for it unfortunately. Setting a percentage prices cannot be spiked is not setting a price they must be. Price controls have minimums and/or maximums. Ben is either playing dumb or lying.
Why are R’s pretending that Kamala is bad on the mic? She almost ended Biden’s campaign with the busing point in the primaries. Imagine what she’ll be able to do to Trumps record…
I love how we keep saying that trump committed to biden when biden wasn't even the nominee yet. He had committed three debates to whoever the democrats pick And intimately involved in every decision means she gave advice n biden ultimately made the final decision. Being the president. But that means that she has experience in the process now. Which is a good thing
Ben isnt lying about grocery store prices and stuff. But he is conflating two separate situations and acting like they are the same situation. When it comes to profit margins, yes, theyare low on the grocery side.... On the grocery store side. The krogers and walmarts of the world. The middle men. But they are not the main ones that set the price. Theyre the middle men. The main ones are the grocery product manufacturers. The kelloggs of the world. And this is the side where he is talking about how there is high competition. Which there is... If youre just looking at the name of the product and not who is the owner of that product. These are the companies that are doing the severe price gouging
Walmart and Kroger aren't middlemen. They sell their own products and undercut the brand names who have to pay a fee to stock in their stores. And half the time these competing brands are made in the same factory and just have different labels slapped on them.
Both. One of my favorite Ben clips is him ranting about masks having no purpose other than being a "piece of cloth you wear on your head to signal virtue" while wearing a Yarmulke. He's just turning up the signal.
I hate people like Ben Shapiro and alot of the political discourse in this country at this point. it doesn't matter what's true, what you can prove, or about what you actually believe. It's all just saying and doing whatever you have to in order to make the other person lose.
This is why it is annoying to hear Republicans complaining about 'wasting' 100 million on attacking Joe. Maybe try spending 100 million on spreading your ideas and policy positions because that is what matters and couldn't get ruined by a change in candidate.
So do you not understand the difference between revenue and profit? I think this is really annoying and stupid. I know you dont have a financial background, but you can try to learn some basic economics/ anccounting.
Bitching about inflation then throwing a fit when government presents a plan to combat corporate price gouging is the most American thing i have ever heard. Maybe complaining about lack of in depth plan from opposition while supporting Trump or the Greens is the most American nonsense Those are the 2
No you don't understand, all we have to do is cut Walmart's taxes by another 50% and then pray that the next day the board members will wake up and decide to slash prices across the board. Trust me bro, just one more tax cut.
Oh man i cant listen to BS talk bullshit. Thats an overlooked initials, isn't it? Well, i bet his parents didnt think he'd become one of the worst people on the planet.
Yes. Alot of people do. Believe it or not, a lot of old school neo-cons absolute love Ben Shapiro. He is basically their modern day mascot. Ben Shapiro is like a Republican from the 90's.
