Destiny is great, has a live stream almost every day that include excessive research of many topics, I don't agree with him on everything but he makes a lot of good points

It's funny to hear conservative politicians/pundits say we need more kids/families... Like bruh, my one child's daycare cost is almost as much as rent.

The divorce rate is also arguably a result of a shift in culture. The point Ben is making is that being in a two parent monogamous household growing significantly improves outcomes for all aspects of a child’s life on a purely statistical basis, and thus we should be making an effort to shift culturally to a position that encourages and supports that outcome. I think the point on this topic may have been missed a bit

Ben’s argument is just a coverup for inserting Christian values. The gov job is to adapt to the current culture. We need to incentivize people taking the time to get to know one another and economic conditions before getting married. That way, people stay in happy marriages. Shotgun marriages make things worse in the long run with unhappy households and divorce.

It's exactly as easy as it sounds to get married and stay married, but it requires you prioritize it over your instant gratification.

57% of marrigies end in divorce. But this number is inflated by certrain people marrying and divorcing many times. Most marriges still last.

Is it cost of living or lifestyle choice? We are more well off than ever before and we never "settle" for ourselves. Think of the things you don't really need in your life cut those out and see how your paper starts stacking. People don't want to give up technology and they give their funds to it. Then have nothing left to build

He’s not making it sound easy, he’s saying it’s not as hard as people think today. A lot of us probably think 30 is a good age to get married(after financial stability). It’s a matter of perspective and priorities that determine when you “can” get married. You guys should spend more time talking about the good in Ben’s points and the bad in the other guys points. As if a kid with an iPad and air conditioning is going to result in more success than two parents that care for the child. It seems like a perspective and priority issue.

@@hijklmnopreaper Shapiro is probably suggesting that informing people on the root cause is more beneficial in the long run, rather than focusing on a bandaid fix. It’s something worth talking about, even if it’s “truism”.

14:30 Ben's question evading here os super annoying. Just answer the question THEN say but its not as important as two parent homes. So dishonest

Destiny's question is not irrelevant but it's not helpful to the broader issue. Ben said you can pour money into these programs to help kids but the change is marginal. It doesn't address the underlying issues of what makes kids encode what they learn. If they have a dysfunctional family or a one parent household, they will on average have a stunted learning experience in the classroom. It seems to me that Destiny is plugging holes in the failing ship and Ben is try to bring it to dry dock to restore the wood. In other words, Destiny is worrying about the immediate problems, Ben is focused on the broader problem.

@@MrFunzerker For me this is conservative grift on full display. Person A says "here is something that statistically helps children." Conservative says "yeah but there are things that can do that are MORE helpful" Person A "okay lets do them" Conservative "we can't its down to them to sort out themselves" Person A "okay so lets do the things we can to help children" Conservative: "its not THE most effective thing possible so lets do nothing"

@Denis-Maldonado
@Denis-Maldonado 6 месяцев назад
I'll assume you are talking about divorce. Then "Children" is carrying your argument. is not a conscious experience until week 22 to 24 of gestation. And guess what, that's exactly were the scientific community advise us to declare the limit for abortion, and most countries follow it. Most reasonable progressives are against abortion after that period, unless some extreme conditions are met, like rape or risk of dying.

If you really want to get married to your girl, you dont need that much money if you think about it. You need money for a stupid wedding and not marriage. It is a fact that people were more poor and had harder time getting money but what made it easier was marriage, the man had the ability to work 24/7 because the woman was taking care of the house and kids. Now even if you are married both parties are working and taking care of the house and no party is stress free who can stabilize the family.

It seems that all the solutions that Destiny calls for are ways to just feel good about saying you're doing something rather than truly wanting to get to the root issues.
@savvy1530
@savvy1530 6 месяцев назад
Isnt it the opposite? Destiny is saying that to improve schooling and education now we cant just go give every kid a loving caring family, but what we can do is give them better environments in school to increase the kids abilities to engage. The problem with schooling is solved by improving the schools, yes having kids have a loving caring 2 parent household also does improve outcomes, but thats not legislatable while improving the quality of school environments can be. The 2 parent household is a separate factor, yes it does have an impact, but thats not something that can be solved within the schools while what destiny advocates for is providing tangible things to help improve the lives of kids today because regardless of whether they have a 2 parent household or not, improving the quality of schools will in turn increase kids engagement.
@cchavezjr7

@@savvy1530 But none of that affects the big picture. They're micro improvements when a macro change is needed. Even the way you describe it is more feel good and virtue signaling forms of help rather than going to the root causes of the issues. Money is spent en masse and the districts that spend the most often have the worst test scores. Look at Los Angeles and New York city. They have air conditioning, and the things he talks about but it doesn't make a difference one bit. Most schools in the southern part of the US all have AC, that's just a given so with what that's talking about is only a small portion of schools that don't have it so then it affects the problem at even a smaller level.
@savvy1530
@savvy1530 6 месяцев назад
@@cchavezjr7 the problem isn't solving the big picture the problem is solving the issues in school, and and isn't it virtue signaling to say that the solution to problems in education is in the home... because you are literally assigning your virtue onto the problem. Like I said yes a perfect home life would help some problems with education that kids face, but a perfect home life isn't going to fix bad school environments within the school. Even kids with perfect homes can face issues engaging in school if the school environment isn't up to standards expected of producing positive learning results. Saying the solution is at home is the virtue signal. its not ignoring the big picture to say that to improve education results you try to improve the education environment, sure having a good home improves that, but like I said that isn't legislatable. And when aiming to produce positive results for all Americans we should look at what causes some schools to produce negative spaces to engage kids in learning and education, and when there are possible ways to improve outcomes we should aim to accomplish what we see provides better results for all. I understand your concerns but it feels that you didn't understand destiny's point at all.
@cchavezjr7
@cchavezjr7 6 месяцев назад
@@NeverSawThem It's still THE issue that's causing most of the problems. Also, parents need to become more engaged in the education process such as going to school board meetings, looking at the homework regularly, etc. Air conditioning is stupid to hang your hat on as an improvement in the education process as if that's going to be a cure to anything other than just patting yourself on the back for doing something without even knowing what will happen or caring. Like I said, the vast majority of schools already have AC, It's part of any building requirements along with central heating.
@cchavezjr7

I can say I actually have worked personally on schools and to try to make them better. I have served 4 years on a school board. Has he or you? I know what goes on in the funding process and what many studies show on what works and what doesn't work. AC is something implemented in every single new school built so it's a non issue.

Marriage isn't about the adults involved it's really about the children and back in the day kids raised in those shotgun marriages turned out better than kids today who are born out of wedlock. Also the divorce rate isn't true read shanti fields book about "the good news about marriage" she researched the divorce rate for eight years and found out that it wasn't true.
