I love my Benchmade Infidel. I've been lucky and had no problems with mine. I also don't use my Infidel as my EDC and so it hasn't seen much action. Having said that I have actuated the blade well over 100 times since I've owned it and the blade appears to be tight. I bought mine right around the time this video was made.
I don't know why Benchmade does not apply thread locker at the factory. Mine came the same way...the blade felt perfect, then after about a week and maybe 50 cycles, the blade was literally "flopping" back and forth! I took it apart and sure enough, the little machine screw that is supposed to secure the blade to the locking boss was loose! I applied Red Loc-tite, let set, then reassembled and the problem disappeared forever. Now the blade is solid when locked open!
I had the saame exact issue with mine minus the screw coming completely out. The blade was loose and it drove me fkn crazy to the point where i was goin to return the knife, but i love it so i disassembled it and found that screw had worked it way out. Thru some locktite on it and its been perfect ever since
I was looking at getting one of these but I ended up going with the Fixed Infidel instead. It's got a longer blade, the price was close to half of the OTF version, and no moving parts to fail. Unfortunately they've discontinued it. If they bring it back I'll likely get another.
Hi this may be to late but just got a benchmade infel toady and just after a few hours of having it i notest the same thing my blade was wobbly, and i said rhe same thing "its 400 dollers shuld it realy be wobbling" i thught it was od so i started serching around to find out if the balde shuld have play and came across you video, i was wondering if you culd help me fix it like you did? Ass i said its brand new and im not realy comferteble opening it up without a guide😅
Pay attention to the clip on the back If Infidel isn’t distressed looking and or there isn’t a butterfly on the tip of the clip it might be a counterfeit
Hi, great video. Could you show or do a video on how to eliminate the big side to side blade play on the Infidel? I have sent mine back to Benchmade three times over the years and it always comes loose after getting it back. Specifically the area you mention in your video to Loctite? If you can help I would greatly appreciate it. My knife has the same issue. Thanks.
The blade should be rock solid. If it has more than the slightest movement there is a little machine screw inside that holds the locking boss to the blade shank. You can access this pretty easily. Removed the 6 screws on the button side. Lift off the top cover, lift off the steel sub frame. Now lift out the blade and you will instantly see the blade and locking boss are connected, but loose. The little machine screw has backed out. Removed the screw, apply Red Loc-tite, let set, then re-insert the screw and make sure it's tight - this is steel to steel remember. Once the Loc-tite has set you're blade will be rock solid and never come lose again!
@@Razorbackoperator Hi SOG Operator, thank you for responding to my comment. I have read through it several times and understand there is a loose area that needs red loctite. Is there anyway you could show how to fix with a video or illustrated tutorial? I know it would help me and others with the same problem. When sending a knife back to Benchmade several times you would think they could fix it with their warranty program. Benchmade has failed to fix this issue. Benchmade has a lot to learn making and servicing OTF knives. Please help. Thank you.
Haveing the very same problem mine all of the sudden got a lot of play in the blade and it rattles when I shake it even when its not deployed but the blade has had no trouble deploying but it won’t retract l have to re-sit it 8 out of 10 times when retracting it ,very disappointing after spending $425 for it, I really want to like this OTF but very disappointed thus far. What do you think 🤔
I was going to get mircotech but liked the look and configuration of the handle and the location of deployment switch of the Infidel not that the mircotech was not a beautiful knife, but for $425 and it being a bench made I thought I’d be getting what I paid for, I’m so disappointed and pissed , I’ll never buy another benchmade products again and they do make some good knives, saving for a microtech now but after eating $425 it’s gonna take awhile
Mine quit deploying correctly about 6 months . Debris got in it, ima try canned air. Bought direct from BM. Light blue says McHenry on blade. Was on sale $116 !. Oops ok I'm an idiot. Well, for $116 it's not too bad 😂🤣
I appreciate the feedback but I don't think so. I ordered it from blade HQ where I've ordered all my knives from for years and have never had an issue.
@freedom fighter 1776 Its not fake, but after some research I think the blacked out blade model is the newer/upgraded version and in reviews I've seen the wobble was fixed.
