I really like what you guys are doing, keep up the good work. Your definitely setting a path with the knowledge and versatility of what drt & srt combined with saddle hunting or tree stand hunting can do. (It's like the perfect tool every hunter shouldn't be without)
I was looking 4 the video where Joe showed how he packed up his rope & carabiner on his 5 ' end since he's such a neat guy. I wanted 2 do this with my non looped end of my new Oplux 8.5' since it will be going 2 my hunting tether. I found that video next in line right after the new Lock-On & leave video starring Hollywood Scott. I spent very little time not digging through countless videos. Thank you for that 😎.
I've had problems working with full body harnesses hurting me in the clavicle area. Wearing a saddle instead of full body harness has many advantages. I no longer work a job with a full body harness. I climb as much as I can in a saddle. After a couple of years I have no pain. A tip to use is this. If u still like leaving stands out u can leave your stand in a tree. I like to remove the seat from the stand. Most of my stands I camo painted years ago so with no seat they r damn near invisible in a slightly busy tree. I do presets early in the tree & I've become accustomed to putting brush piles around the tree to direct the deer away from the base of my tree. If u replace the bolts, plastic washers & nuts on your stand u can leave it in that brush pile for the year ready for u to use when u arrive on that 1st hunt of the year. 😁
All of your videos are great. My father was an arborist. As a kid I spent many weekends on side jobs with him as his ground man, learning and appreciating the trade, running for gas, oil and ropes. Lot’s of ropes. I didn’t follow in his footsteps, I became an electrical worker. I still use all of the knots he taught me, “yelling them down to me” lol. Man, I love climbing trees. You guy’s are spot on with your approach on safety first. It’s still the first thing he preaches to me. I know dad, I know dad. It’s great to hear. Folks thought he was nuts hunting from his saddle in the 80’s. Now it’s what’s in. Thanks again.
Ya I remember hanging a double ladder stand by myself and as I was putting last strap on,it rocked sideways a bit, boy was that hairy lol. But first time practicing in my saddle up 20ft, felt super safe. And I love it. Thanks for your time and knowledge guys👍🤙
I see the "double overhand knot" used on the safety harness, and to attach the bow to the rope. How safe is a double overhand knot, compared to other arborist knots? The standard way to tie in your harness is using a figure 8 on a bite knot for example. I would love to use the double overhand knot more often, as it seems the fastest way to tie a secure knot, and maybe it loosens easy when loaded heavily and you want to untie the knot. I just don't see anyone else using the double overhand knot except for Mr. Scott. BEST HUNTING CHANNEL ON RU-vid :)
I’ve used it my entire career. I’ll use it to attach my carabiner then tie my Blake’s hitch. There’s no way it will ever move when tied in that scenario
Hey guys. I ordered your DRT kit. Now I'm curious. Should I get a friction saver? I've been watching these DRT videos and they use a cambium saver. Is this recommended?
I hv seen a few videos from your channel, but i have not seen you use a tether line or some form of redundancy other than your climbing line. Is this ok?

I'm thinking of trying your "hybrid" idea, (still having my hang on stand) but I'm wondering if my hunter safety system harness work just as well. Couldn't I just use my lineman loops to set up a bridge in case in case i need to get that shot behind me?
I think what a lot of these videos gloss over is the difference between sitting in a saddle vs climbing harness. I think if you used a climbing harness like a saddle you could actually die from suspension trauma and the blood will pool in your legs. This should be discussed any time someone recommends diy and hybrid methods.

Spot on guys; this is totally what I'm planning planning to do ( had some SRT sets for the last 2 years ). Out of curiosity, instead of paracord, what are your thoughts on 200lb/300lb test braided fishing line ( feels really close to throw line to me )?
Braided fishing line works just fine. Go ahead and grab a sling shot and a fishing weight... you can ditch the throw ball all together lol. It actually does work but it can become a tangled mess! Decent method for rec climbing when you want a real high canopy anchor that you can’t hit with a throw ball and arm power.
New York saddle hunters, You make the most amazing videos. Now I can dust off my Lone Wolf climber and set it up by another deer trail. The same is going to happen with my STEPP LADDER gears. A ring of steps in the right spot. I am looking forward to the season for buck hunting for Nordic deer starting May 16. You need to know that your videos are being followed closely here in Denmark, Scandinavia. I have a question: When Joe uses the SRT technique, which ascender does he use? GRIGRI, or ...? I find my GRIGRI disputes in my carabiner chin. Do you have any good advice? If you ever come to Denmark, hit the wire. It could be that I can give back a little bit as a thank you for all your good advice.
Thanks Michael! For SRT We are using the Petzl Gri Gri +, Climbing technologies CT quick roll hand ascender. Singing rock footloop, A delta link to attach the footloop to the hand ascender and a Petzl OK locking carabiner.
I have trouble with det same system. It is turning so my GRIGRI is facing the other way. Difficult to turn it with the pressure on. I have a Tetthr Mantis Saddle.
Hey guys, so i just don't understand how on the same side of the rope that the blakes hitch is tied on, the end of the rope just lays on the ground? How does the line not fall through and how does it stay tight?
I was watching an older video and Joe mentioned a way to climb a straight tree with no limbs. Did you ever make a video on that method? I couldn't find it if you did.

I did it all last year in trees without limbs. I agree method is awesome. Like everyone else did sticks and steps which I'll still use in some situations but this is my go to
Basically any limb around the size of your forearm is a pretty safe bet. Also where the limb meets the trunk is called the union and is the strongest part of that limb. You can also use the limb to support your rope and encircle the trunk of the tree. ( girth hitch ) . The more you explore these systems and the trees you’ll be accessing, you’ll get pretty good at picking out viable limbs . Or if you check out the newest system the Halfline . We evolved to a more Mobile friendly version where you only need a small limb , sucker even a dead stub to hold your paracord loop which then you will girth hitch the trunk from the ground before you ever leave it !!!
