@@RehanSiddique in the book Beorn killed Bolg, all his bodyguards (whom Thorin, Fili and Kili could not touch) and almost turned the tide of the battle single-handedly. Beorn was the SINGLE deciding factor between victory or defeat in the book. Man was damn near unstoppable. He's described as smashing through the bodyguard of Bolg and pulling down the great orc himself and crushing him.

I agree considering Tolkien’s main influences in writing style and themes were Germanic in nature (Old English and Norse literature). Also, coincidentally, Beorn fights in a berserker style and some claim the Viking berserker sometimes went into battle wearing nothing but a bearskin cloak.
The swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt is the host Beorn in this scene. Mikael was promised to have a bigger part in the next movie as this character. And after the last Hobbit-movie was done, the people in behind the camera cut out every scene he appeared. So it was on the news in Sweden for a big huge disappointing for the director Peter Jackson and a big hug of love for Mikael Persbrandt. He deserved to be in more scenes! Peter Jackson gjorde ett stort misstag att inte ha med dig i fler scener, Mikael!
@sweetblackblood1 peter jackson did a huge mistake by not letting you in more scenes (translated as a norwegian). also can confirm, im 6'1 at age 13 and im expected to grow much taller in the later years
@@sweetblackblood1 There are some ancient germanic bloodlines that are very tall and very rare nowadays but their average height is also a bit taller than the US. These bloodlines are in some ways responsible for the legends of giant viking berserkers and norther european knights and for these reasons they receive a lot of media attention. Also, pretty much every aspect of the fictional middle earth is based on something real and it is likely that Beorn and all the skinchangers were intended to recall renowned berserkers that were said to morph into bears during combat.
@@sweetblackblood1 As far as I know, most or all of the known giant swords were strictly ceremonial or for decoration but I'm sure at some point a massive sword was used in combat
The height of Gandalf vs Dwarves/Hobbit ratio changes time to time. He has banged his head in Bilbo's house; (now) during running scene dwarves are nearly on his shoulder-height.
Beorn and me would get along just fine,because like him sometimes I'm grumpy,I just want to be heard but i don't want to be the center of attention and want to be left alone and I want to live how he does.... And having his abilities would be good to have as well.
@@RehanSiddique He Did more then eagles,so basically killed Bolg(who was orc general in the book)and his entire elite bodyguard force.Also he carried thorin out of the fight(but thorin still died).
Angmar the cursed wicked Witchkings tomb is so creepy no wonder why he became the Necromancer RRTolkien was a genius interpreting this film into our lives living side by side with the Devil

Born in 1960 .Read The Hobbit when I was 12 years old and the Lord of the Rings at 14 years old . Watched these films when they came out . Have no recollection of Beorn the bear . Absolutely no recollection . That is a little bit worrying .
Did I miss something? I don’t remember in Battle of the 5 Armies this character in the movie version where he meets the Dwarves and Gandalf? Was it filmed and then cut from the final released version in the US?
Why couldn’t they just stick to The Hobbit? Always withe the excess action and tragedy when the more moderate version of this scene was perfectly wonderful.
Has anyone here actually read "The Hobbit"? This scene is awful and it takes not just liberties with the book, it completely ignores the book and fabricates an action scene where there was none in the original material. To not alienate their host, who inhabits his home in his human form, Gandalf crafts a plan, whereby the dwarfs appear in pairs, ask for shelter until the last one is admitted in their home. Beorn is not pleased but extends his hospitality to the whole group. It is a tense, but lovely and funny scene, very much encapsulating the spirit of the book. And Jackson turned it into this sh*t. I really hope someone comes along and makes a movie that is true to the book. Not this bloody carnival ride.
