Thank you so much for all your time spent to download this excellent series, I enjoyed it so much and wish you much love and happiness in return, cheers! xoxo
I have to say, I binged and watched all 10 episodes of this series, in one sitting. How delightful and wonderful. What a treasure. Thank you so much for posting this. I really enjoyed this so much. Well worth the watch.
me too, Saturday 4am couldn't sleep just finished 10 episodes to 2pm. Now I need to clean my house :( wish they had more series. WELL DONE! And yes Victoria does not deserve her place and is a horrible mother.
This is the 2nd time i have watched this series....absolutely wonderful all acting really great such sadness for the truly martyrdom of poor mrs Bronkowski...who gave her innocent life to save others! ...bravo for posting this series 😁🇦🇽🇦🇽🇦🇽
This series was so underated ... It should've gone on and on ..ten episodes was not enough.. I enjoyed it more than Downton Abbey, Duchess of Duke Street upstairs downstairs and most periodic dramas. This was brilliantly written and never had a pause where something wasn't happening . I truly loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for giving us all the chance to watch them all.. And before anyone asks like I said in the beginning of this comment .. there wasn't anymore than 10 episodes whatsoever. But there should've been! X
Well, i began watching the 1st series at 3pm, i cooked dinner, then continued to watch the following series, it's now 3:15, am !! I just, couldn't put it down, as i would a good book.. Thank you for this amazing series. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Many thanks. ❤
Me too. It’s now 03.10 am and I’ve just finished watching all 10 episodes. What a joy and I can’t imagine how I missed this series the first time around.
I’m not sure what time I finally went to bed, but it was early hours. I’ve just woke up (afternoon) to watch the last episode, which is of course bitter sweet, as they didn’t make a second series and just like a good book, it’s always sad to come to the end. I loved watching every minute of it though ❤
Loved every minute of this. I've watched all episodes during the past few days. Coincidentally, I was actually living just around the corner from Berkeley Sq & employed in a domestic service role when this series was on the tv in the 90's. But I never watched it at the time. Feels oddly nostalgic to watch it now. Such a shame I can't indulge myself in series 2.....I can't believe they never made it! Thank you for sharing this series. It's been such a treat.
Thank you for uploading this! I was totally engrossed in it in the past 3 days. Funny how a drama created 25 years ago can hold us in its grip until we love (or hate) its fictional characters like we knew them personally. 😅 Unfortunately, Berkeley Square has become a commercial place, full of tourists & traffic, expensive galleries, shops & restaurants no ordinary Londoners can afford. I wish I knew where this series was filmed. I hope it hasn’t changed for the worse as well?
@@cindymaceda2999 Hello there, the terrace used for Berkeley Square is Vyvyan Terrace in Clifton, Bristol. There are a few places in Clifton used in filming: the graveyard where Rosemary Leach's character sits in the penultimate episode is Birdcage Walk, and lots of exteriors are filmed in Goldney Hall's gardens (the tea party in episode 3 and the nighttime fairground in...episode 6? I can't remember!). Vyvyan Terrace still looks very similar and the area has lots of Georgian terraces much like it. Clifton has always been a very expensive area and rents are increasing in price still. I hope it doesn't price out the people who make it a good place to live.
Started watching the series last night and now I've just watched the last episode. Where"s the rest for pity"s sake... I don't remember being so 'lost.' Forgot all about everything that's going on In 2022. Loved every minute of it. Thanks for uploading it.
I also binge watched all 10 episodes and I did not want it to be over. I'm very sad that it is and it was so enjoyable. Thank you so much for sharing this with us all. ✌️❤️
It's a pity they didn't do a seond season. At the end of this series, there are so many loose ends that the story begs another chapter in this saga. Excellent story (no sagging middle) and beautifully performed by cast and crew.
Wish this mini-series went longer, because some of the Characters are so appealing - but I’m glad that it ultimately ended-on a good-note for Most Involved. Thank-You for uploading this!!
Huge respect for Polish our compatriot, Ms Bronovsky❤️🇵🇱 We trully understand her decission. In those times Poland was not on Europe's map due to the 3rd partition of our country made by Prussia, Russia, and Austria. Ms Bronovsky's origin was from Gdansk, northern part of Poland, partitioned by Prussia. She would have worse life being there in Gdansk, rather than staying in prison in London. Freedom is an ambivalent virtue. In Polish history we had many examples of such brave, generous and honorable persons, men or women, who gave away their lives in order to save other people. And many of them we're Judes, as Ms Bronovsky. And many saved Judes too. Thank you, Director, whatever origin you have, and whoever you are. Also, thank you De Epoca for sharing this series with all of us.❤️
Indeed the Character was Jewish as displayed by the Seder plate in the background in her home. I find the storyline annoying on the verge of being Antisemitic.Jews are people. Not saints or victim prototypes and not villains or money grabbers. I find it dehumanizing. Yael, Israel.
Absolutely loved this and binge watched it too. This was a time of great social change ,women’s rights amongst them, children’s labor laws and healthcare.Thank you for sharing this with us.
The Berkeley Square (1998) mini-series is great. I strongly recommend it for those interested in costume drama - you will have plenty of it. The story takes place in 1902. Most of the characters are quite interesting and the very good actors helped making them even more interesting. I read somewhere that the mini-series has 10 episodes. I watched a copy available in the RU-vid where at the top of the 10th episode there is a sentence informing that is the last. However, the 10th episode I watched seems quite incomplete, considering it is the last. At the end of the 10th episode there are still too loose ends to be sorted out yet - to end a good and entertaining story like that is not very fair. Many thanks for making the mini-series available to us.
No, she wasn't Polish, she was Jewish. Unlike in the USA, or other modern democracies,Jews were not first class citizens in Poland. Also, the Jews actually are a nation, the Nation of Israel, even though they were dispersed for many centuries away from their land.
Yes..that was the point..she was supposed to show what a martyr she Yes..unfortunately, that will do nothing for her if she denies Christ..There is only 1 way to the Father..and no " Good act" or self sacrafice will attain eternal life for we have ALL SINNED AND FALLEN SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.. NO ONE IS GOOD..NO NOT ONE.
@@sissyrayself7508 rita4missions is right. For all we know a woman like her might have been impregnated by clergy, who most of the time weren't real Christians. But how could one know? It's just a series here, but if it were real life, she gave her life for a friend and I'm sure that as soon as she faces Christ, she'll be shown what He did for her and she'll gladly accept. Then again, I know a Whole LOT of so-called real Christians, who won't do a thing for you, if you beg them. Not even if you've done much more for them. I think the real surprise is, how many people will hear Him say: "I never knew you." Or will be vomited out of His mouth, because of their lukewarmness. And MOST are just like that! So in this video perhaps a person denied the disfiguration of Christ. But she sure showed 100.000 times more love, than I've seen from any real Christian for the past years! I have been ill for 11,5 years now. And how often have I been selflessly helped? Right: not even ONCE!!! I've been a Christian for 40 years! Have served abroad, have served at home. Have given so much away of my love, my attention, my time, my energy, my knowledge, my physical help, my emotional comfort, my bed rest even, my things and my money. And what did I get back in return? NOTHING !!! Nothing but abandonment and betrayal by all these fine Christians, who needed me and were lovingly helped by me. But now that I need something, they shove me off with scraps. My only banc account was scandalously blocked by the power-abusing country I currently live in, because I was a little late with paying taxes, after I've been robbed of 90% of my income. And ill and all I work or I hurt too much to work. So I asked someone I've taken in for years and made part of my family in her teens, when she had no one, if she could LEND me 2000 bucks. Well, it turns out she does have the money, but wants to keep it as her own reserve. I wouldn't have asked her, if I saw another way. But no, miss selfish was too good for that. No matter, that she knows the good book. No matter that she ought to know, that it says: "Give to those, who ask of you and do not refuse the one who wants to lend of you." So you, miss sissyrayself know-it-all and too-good-to-be-true-anyways, are YOU now going to lend me such money? No, of course not. For you will come up will all kind of excuses, just like the rest of them. No one shows any real love nowadays. For love is something you DO. And I'm pretty sure, you don't do a thing either. Or think you're so fantastic for doing 5% of what is necessary. Why are people, proclaiming to be christians, so incredibly loveless nowadays? So many people deny Christ with their actions each and every day! And dare judge those, who confirm Christ with their actions each and every day. I vomit such out, just as much.
I want to know what happens to them all, it's really unfair to have us invest so much time and emotion in the story only to have it dashed away. Good grief how many Downton Abbeys have ITV managed to squeeze out and movies too and I know not what. Surely a second series was not beyond the BBC. Hang on a minute, they axed The House of Eliott right at the climax...big mistake...I've never gotten over it
Ditto. I too binge-watched (in my 80s now so you can't wait for episodes!). I felt there were a lot of loose ends to tidy up - but thats a bit like life anyway isn't it?
Wow, what a nice surprise to have found this. I really loved this series. Wonderful acting and a great story line. I, like many others, wish there were more. I binge watched this in 2 days. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
I have watched these episodes all the way through 2 times in the last 4 days to get all of the characters and families straight and catch the lines I missed. I am crying at the end once more for Mrs Bronowski, the most tragic of all of the characters.
Great series! I bingewatched in 2 days!! I really like the focus on the nannies and the writing was great. It’s always hard to see what women servants had to go through, especially when sexually harassed. Again, wonderful storytelling and authentic characters.
Regardless of the era, this story remains a true to life representation of the conflicts and circumstances many people are born into and the difficulties they face when trying to escape. Thanks for providing the accurate subtitles! Thanks so much for sharing!!
I LOVED this series. It was thoroughly engrossing. A godsend during this stupid Covid Lockdown. I WISH they'd made more seasons. Thanks a million De epoca
It's incredible !! Nannies were most important than their our parents for children !! They had an special place in the house and they were respected by all family¡´s members. This status is considered till today in England. To be a nanny it' s not the same in France, Spain or anywhere. Very nice film 🙂
I'm sorry I started watching this series! LOL! Not really. I started watching last night and it's now almost 5:00 in the morning but I couldn't stop watching. Thank you so much De epoca
Pleased this little gem came up in my recommendations. A sad ending, however - it reflects on the fact that life isn't always happy ever after for everyone. There are too many in the world who deserve much better, and there are those who breeze through life yet deserve nothing but condemnation.
I watched all 10 episodes in one sitting - I LOVED IT -- but am seriously disappointed that they didn't make a Season 2. So unfair that Nanny Simmons got away with it.
Excellent! I too binged un 1 night. The acting is great, The ladies are very pretty, especially the nannies etc.. Hanna is a beautiful lady inside & out! And we're still waiting more seasons, hello! Simeone please pick this up & continue the seasons! Stop leaving us hanging!
Well, there goes a thrilling plot with over half a dozen lines to go on excitingly, and oh...What an absolute waste. It clearly deserved 40 more chapters at least..!😳😆
Gracias
@@debwell7248 That is not strictly true, Deb. Many people in this world, lead a good life and walk on the right path but dreadful things happen to them. Life is cruel and very unfair to many in this harsh, stinking, rotten world
Skygazer Yes, good things can happen to bad people and bad things can happen to good people. Most of what we receive though happens by way of choices we have made. Just saying life can be unfair is not correct. You are responsible for most of what happens to you in life by your choices.
@@debwell7248 That is actually not true. What happens to people in war or under a communist regime most often has nothing to do with their choices in life. My parents did not choose to be starving and being bombed during WWII or to be oppressed and persecuted during the communist regime that was installed in their country after the war.
loved it all the series, costumes , play. scenes and all was simply hypnotising,, thank you so much.. made my week. so much so, that each time kept putting it till a later time . so as not to end this pleasure.. BBC is the best, nobody can replace them...
Hannah though having good intentions allowed a lie to snow ball into an utter catastrophe. Because of her selfishness she caused another well intentioned person to be hanged! I thought that part of the story was just cruel
I get my tears in my eyes. I wish the people could realy live each other in that way! Thank you sooo much for sharing this with us. It is a warm lesson to teach me how to live with other people.
Thank you so much for uploading. To you and all the viewers and commenters, I am so glad that there are still so many people who love quality storytelling.
At first I thought this was just a soap opera. But as I began to care about the characters I felt the substance deepen. In the end it was too tragic to be fantasy, it rang true to life. It is such a sad commentary that very little is produced in American that matches the depth & breadth of even an ordinarity British TV mini-series. We should be grateful and protective of the fundamental strength of our cutlure; English language and English law.
Scott Free what even more shocking is now English people are the minority in London. This is definitely a wonderful history lesson on grand ole England. They predict it will be a Muslim country in less than 50 years.
Amé esta serie, tan humana y real, la vida de estas mujeres invisible en ese tiempo para las personas a las cuales servían, pero tan importante para los niños que cuidaban, gracias por compartir.
I have binge watched this series for only to find out that NOTHING ended as it should have. My heart is broken that all the wicked succeeded in their comfort of not being punished and the good being thrown to the wolves for the wicked ones to live happily ever after. Why didn't the story writers calm our hearts with rhe knowing of good is over evil? 😢💔💔💔
I want to see 'Berkeley Square- 20 years on'. Hannah makes a death bed confession, and tells Charles he's really the illegitimate son of lord. Older brother Bertie inherits the Hutchinson name and fortune, which leaves Charles free to find his true family, and to fight for the right to be recognised as heir to the Harmonsworth line!
I would love to see that, although due to there being two older siblings - both boys, I believe - I don't think Bertie would inherit any particular fortune. However much I think he deserves it for being such a sweet boy.
That would be interesting. Twenty years later means it would open at the end of WWI and the beginning of the roaring '20s, since the original took place in 1903. It is possible that Bertie inherits after the death of his older siblings, who died serving their country. Charlie/Billy has an extremely adventurous spirit, which gives his "parents" great stress. Symonds is dying and confesses to having murdered several children under her care over the course of her career. Nanny Weston is married with children of her own. Her husband will be a new character to the viewers that she met while attending classes on basic history at a learning centre for the lower class. Nanny Randall's closeness and obvious emotional attachment to Charlie/Billie has come under great scrutiny by many Hutchinson family members. Nanny Wickham is a respected nanny to the next generation of the St.John family. However, she is not respected at home. Her twin sons are rebellious and challenge her in every way especially since the loss of Ned. He died in 1918 in France serving his country.
Yes, and poor innocent Isabelle is now a cynical, bitter woman, used by a deceitful bounder for her youth and fortune. That's what she gets for being a fool in love.
Once again - I fell *in love* with a "fantastic" series only to have it abruptly end! SO SAD that we could not storm the gates of BBC & send a message that we want more! Thank you!
👍👌👏 Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing this great old series. In my opinion respectively for my personal kind of taste the series haa a way too abrupt ending respectively many open endings. It definitely looks as if there should have been produced a second season but unfortunately they didn't. Best regards luck and health in particular.
Thank you for posting this. I'm not sure why the series didn't go on, but I'm glad we had this. It's like reading a Russian novel. The plot with the babies is very Tolstoy-esque. The acting was quite good. When the series ended, I wasn't disappointed. It gave me a chance to imagine the many different ways it COULD have ended. Thanks again.
I'm really sad this show is over, I wish the older woman never got executed, that was so sad. But overall, I loved this series & wish it wasn't over :( . Thank you so much for posting!
That was amazing! I watched all 10 episodes without going to bed all night!! It was Dickensian in scope and imagination and the characters were superbly done (except for the American with the Canadian accent, did she really think Brits would think that was an American accent?). The heroine, the shining light was Mrs. Brovowski. She reminded me so much of Sidney Carter walking up to the gallows in 'A Tale of Two Cities', when he said, "It is a far, far better thing that I do know than I have ever done. It is a far, far better place I go than I have ever gone." And frankly, I don't care if that silly girl marries that dishonourable debacle of a man, they deserve each other! Not everything is resolved as perfectly as Dickens book but that's why it was so poignant and why we are left wondering, what comes next?
