This has been a real challenge for me. I can't seem to coordinate walking her & trying to get her to be on my left. Our Berner is 8 months & went thru a basic obedience class. When walking, she wants to eat everything she sees tho lately a little less. She seems to think 'heel' means 'sit' & will stop & jump for the treat. I bought a mesh muzzle which keeps her from eating stuff, but of course can't give her a treat with that on. She can also be stubborn & decide to just sit or lay down in someone's lawn & won't get up. So frustrating!
My guy is already a year and a half I hope this helps. He is pretty good on a lead but it’s hard to get everyone in my household to do the same training exercises that I am trying to do. He is reactive and has a hard time focusing on me on walks.
I hear you on that one Devon. I was gone for my Dad's funeral for 8 days and came home to one; a barking Berner (new thing), walking changed so much and diggin in the yard. I was so mad. Now feeling like I have to retrain. Luckily she is a 9-month-old awesome dog who loves to please her owner, me:)

So I have a 9-week old Berner and we live in a city. There's always a bunch of stuff on the ground like sticks, rocks, and trash. We've been avoiding long walks but when he goes to the bathroom it's out on the sidewalk where all the sticks, rocks, and trash are. I've tried keeping my pup focused on me while we're out there using treats, but he's easily distracted and insists on eating everything he can see. I get that he's still a baby and is curious about all the stuff on the ground, but we literally can't walk a single step without him trying to eat something. Do you have any tips on how to correct this behavior?

I need help dude. I can’t get her to stop pulling no matter what training exercises I’m doing, I get her to focus on me and she will for a second then forgets she barks at other dogs and damn near pulls me towards them idk what to do
