Thank you for one of the best performed reviews I've seen in a long time. Too many others show silent footage with little commentary, and stop the review to talk on camera. This makes very long reviews, but they get interminable after a while. You said everything concisely and clearly. I've seen many reviews and the Akaso Brave 6 Plus is my first choice so far. (Unless the Akaso Brave 7 Plus, later this year, is even better.) I just wish I'd seen your review first.

I believe the V50X is better and there's a side-by side comparison in the video showing the greater details level of the V50X. But both perform well.

Now I own the Camera and it's really cool, but I found a big disadvantage: My preferred resolution is 1440p/60 with Image stabilisation. This is the highest resolution you can use EIS with 60fps. Quality is very good, but the aspect ratio with this resolution is 4:3 and you can't change it to 16:9 or 16:10. Do you think a Firmware update could fix this in future?

They claim a 170° FOV, which is wider than the HERO8 Black's 155°, and yet the stabilized footage clearly had a tighter crop. They're compensating for a poor stabilization algorithm by cropping more aggressively. This gives them more margin to play with (the Osmo Action does this to some extent too), but there's a price to pay in losing field of view and resolution.

Depends on the resolution you shoot at and how often you replay the recordings. Somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes most times.

I bought this exact camera for recording motorcycle rides.. when I turn it on, it only makes recordings about 11 to 13 minutes long. After investigating on the Internet, it turns out that these cameras only record 5G of information and stop/begin another video. so if I try to record some thing 30 minutes long- I end up with three videos that are each approximately 10 to 13 minutes long. But I discovered, if I press the start button the shutter button on top of the camera about every 10 minutes, it will continue to roll and make one long video

Should be 4GB - this is the limit of the Fat32 file system. Try formatting your cards in exFAT.

Hey Nick, that's a very good question. Try finding DJI Osmo action 1 - used ones can be quite affordable. Same goes for GoPro Hero 6 & 7.

Hello nice review, I got mine today. Have question how do you make each MOV file longer? I would like each file to be about 45min to 1 hour? It seems even at 1080p 30fps only 9min and 3gb file. what gives I have not seen this with my EK7000 at 1080p and 30fps no problem getting 45mins before the next file starts and I will end up filling the SD card or run out of battery. 1080p 60fps is about 35min then next file. thanks much!

The Fat32 file system allows files only up to 4GB to be stored. Try formatting the card in exFAT and see if it will work.

One option is to get the Media mod. But I'd strongly recommend getting the Ulanzi metal cage + the old GoPro mic adapter + Rode Videomicro. It will cost but is well worth it.

For 150 EUR you can get the SJ8 Pro which is better than both. From those that you mention - both are good cameras.

On a budget - maybe getting Osmo Action generation 1, even second-hand, makes great sense and will offer awesome quality. From Akaso models - this one is not too bad. I still like a lot the Akaso V50x, but am not sure if they still use the same components in the recent batches.

Likely it will ask you at the time you connect the camera to the laptop about the mode to use. Or find a MicroSD to USB port adapter.

The sensor in the GoPro HERO8 Black is 79% bigger. Sensor area is what matters, not linear size.

The V50X looked sharper indeed, but note that while working on the Brave6 video there were less bright days... Light is essential for good video.

Interesting action cam for the price. Thanks for the detailed review! But to be honest I'd rather save my money to buy a GoPro 8 when its price goes down, if I really wanted an action cam.

Good call! The Hero 8 used to be around $300 which is its best price ever. Look around on their website for some sale activities.
