Agreed. I went from G7 to G85 to GH5 and I've been very pleased with my results. I don't seem to have some of the issues a lot of reviewers talk about. I wonder if it's because I didn't come from a Canon or Nikon background and I'm not trying to use m43 in exactly the same fashion as a full frame camera. In any case, if you've got bad video these days, it's the person shooting hitting their limits and not the camera.

@@htoddgriffin4787 The G7 is my first camera and I love it. I don't need autofocus, so I have no complaints about it. It has a sharper image than Canon cameras at 1080p, better than Canon cameras in low light, can adapt any lens, etc. The limitations of a camera make you get creative.

Fooled me too, and I have a G7, expected more out of the Canon... end of day, if you're struggling to identify which is which, then it doesn't really matter does it? Whoever would grade you on the pixels, probably isn't your audience. I get stuck with that, always wanting something "a little bit better" when in reality, I don't think the viewer really gives 2 shits. Except for the audio quality and the clarity of the images/video.

I have the G85 (American NTSC) and it's autofocus is fast and hell, they improved it in the last firmware update for it.

For anyone whose just not looking at this comment and feels to do the same I’d advise you to pay a extra $100 and get the G85, comes with a MUCH MUCH better lens and the additional feature with the G85 will have you holding on to it more than the G7

Wessel Hoek it sounds like you get to know the "beauty" of RU-vid's Image Compression. The keyword here isn't resolution, it's Bitrate. The G7 (and most other consumer cameras) shoot heavily compressed video (I.e. not Raw) to save recording space. And obviously RU-vid compresses Videos as well to reduce the amount of storage needed to host all their videos. Now with most modern image compression algorithms, like the once used by YT & your camera, you can adjust a target Bitrate (I.e. filesize per length of video). Most likely when you render your videos from your NLE (Non-Linear-Editor, or: your editing program) you render in a relatively high Bitrate. For example the G7 records 4K in 100mbps (megabits per second, not megabytes per second!) and FHD in 28mbps. Then you render your video likely at something like 12-ish or more mbps. So you still have relatively high image quality as the files may need to be compressed more than the original recordings were, but it's not too bad. A lot of the extra data the camera captures really only becomes useful when you edit and grade your footage. But RU-vid at 1080p will rerender your video to (I believe it is) 8mbps or thereabouts (in 1080p anyways) So a very low Bitrate. So what can you do about it? 1. Render your 1080p Video in 4K and Upload it as a 4K Video. 4K on RU-vid uses higher Bitrates and will therefor look better. The exact bitrates RU-vid wants (and in which you should render your video and upload to YT in the first place) are freely accessible if you just google for it. 2. shoot differently. Video compression uses a smart algorithm that heavily favors part of the frame to stand still or to move in an easy to predict, linear fashion. Essentially if your background isn't moving, only very little data is needed to properly encode these parts of your video, and your main (likely) moving subject can be encoded with more data(=better image). So keep calm, slowly moving/changing backgrounds and a lot is already won. Moving parts of the image can actually also be encoded quiet efficiently if the movement is clear, steady and predictable. So yeah it might be a tough pill to swallow, but if you're producing for RU-vid specifically it can be very important to understand how to shoot for and work with low Bitrate delivery files and even adjust your shooting style/limit your creativity to fit those needs. Alternatively there are other video on demand platforms like dailymotion or numerous others that allow higher Bitrate files if your client is ok with using a different target platform (if they only want to embed the video on their website for example it doesn't really matter where it is hosted). Anyways that's about as good a tip I can give you anyways. I'm also shooting panasonic cameras and I've got 1st hand experience with the g7 as well, so I have my own fair share of experience with these types of issues. I Hope you'll find ways to resolve your problems and I wish you great luck and a ton of fun on future projects!

Hey I don't know too much about it, but I came across the Zoom Q2n recently and everyone says its a good microphone with a camera attached to it basically. They have a 4k option as well. Hope this helps.
