Hi! I just got my Ender 3. What size and kind of filament do I need to buy for this? The stuff that came with it only printed 1/2 the test dog...but it came out great!

I have one and the part fan died having less than 2kg of filament through it so not that reliable then...Also you forget to mention all the problems with the ender 3. Creality claim great after care support but ignore you when parts fail and you want them replacing

I should have my ender 3 this tuesday. I got it from gearbest, but it was already in a warehouse in LA. I got it for a total of $170.xx and I got the $5 insurance just to be sure. Using PAYPAL, I got $5 off. I installed Cura, and I can't get the settings going. It wants to keep asking for a printer. I set it up for the untilmaker 3, but I don't have the options I saw in the video. I am using the newest version, 3.4.1. What printer setting did you use? I would do a video of the setup, but I don't know and have the stuff to do a live feed. I just have my cell phone. I looked and can't find those upgrade parts, where did you get them? Thanks Tom

Congrats Tom Gray, i got mine in use for about 2 weeks now and so far, i am VERY pleased with it! Especially the consistent quality and high precision it can achieve when printing miniatures at 0.1mm layer height is just astonishing! It absolutely outperforms machines many times it's price tag. You are gonna have a LOT of fun with it if you build and tune it right. I would recommend the Cmag flex build plate as a first upgrade, as well as stepper motor dampeners. Everyting else can be done with self printed parts (of which a better spool holder is absolutely essential, the stock one is pretty bad). For Cura settings, just use the one for the CR10, clone it and adjust the build size. Just remember to also get at least a full spool of filament, the first one will mainly be used up for calibration and printing upgrades. I got me the cheapest grey PLA i could find and it performed practically flawless so far. Have fun!

Thanks Axel. Should be here tomorrow. I hope it is ok. I ordered it from gearbest.com but it was sitting in an LA warehouse, so I hope it is a new one and not something someone else had returned. I look forward to putting it together and I know the first thing is to level the bed, then to make sure the powersupply is set to the country code, 110V for me. I am using PLA and I have two brand new reels. Black and white. More soon. I just want to make sure I have fun doing this. I'm into electronics so I am doing mostly parts to make unique clocks. Yes I saw the upgrades on thingiverse, I have them. Anyways, I hope to take a video, I only have my cell. But it should be fun still.

Actually, i'd advice to FIRST check the power supply (before turning that thing on!) and THEN level the bed (whilst it is heated!) ;) . There is this very practical bed leveling procedure for the Ender www.thingiverse.com/thing:2987803 which allows you to level the thing and immediately test the results. If you try to level the Ender 3 whilst having the stepper motors disabled, it'll probably be a little off, since there's always a little jerk of the bed with mine when y axis stepper is engaged. Also, i advice you to use the Gcode from this video in your base Ender 3 profile: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K7tVTYZ9A24.html it will purge the nozzle before every print and do other senisble stuff too.
