OMG the Rivian R1S is amazing! It’s got everything I wanted: an affordable price, an awesome range, and most of all, it’s very versatile! For example the only other car on this list that could handle going off road was the Bollinger and it cost us $125,000. The Rivian on the other hand didn’t even cost more than $80,000, had seven seats, and could go off road! Would recommend to many eco-friendly people! Another thing I have to say about the Rivian is that it might rise above one of the most cutting edge electric cars that I have ever seen: the Buick Enspire. The Buick Enspire cost $50,000, had a range of 550 hp, and it had a range of 370 miles. Sure the Rivian cost $72,000, but still it has a larger range and more horsepower than the Buick! That’s all I have to say about that.

Rivian's interior is the nicest, feels calm and natural not just throwing materials at it to look plush.

Rivians vehicles, if proven reliable over time, would be my choice. Just bought a 2020 GM product and will wait to see if the GM LyrIQ will command attention.

If I was Volvo, I’d be hanging my head down with only 200 mile range! They’ve designed and built a beautiful EV-SUV, but failed to take in account the primary use for a SUV is travel. I hope they will up their range, making this vehicle worth the money.

Still not the 500 mile range of the Tesla Roadster has but its a great start to 2021 with styling and practicality relating to recharge times.

OK, so before you all get excited, when you spend x amount of money on one of these what are you going to do if (let's be honest when) the next generation of solid state batteries are brought into production providing markedly greater range and faster charging and are notably lighter than the ones in these cars? Note when those cars arrive these cars value will plummet and you'll be left holding the baby so to speak. Current battery tech is barely fit for purpose and all of the quoted ranges in this video (the most being shown was 310 miles I think) are in absolutely optimal conditions for the batteries, if you drive one of these cars as a daily driver like your driving Miss Daisy you might get 85% of that claimed range (at best), drive them like you drive your current Petrol or Diesel you'll likely get between 60 and 70% of that claimed range, so for every 100 miles claimed expect to get between 60 and 70 miles, as for the "fast charging" you need a fast charger and it's unlikely you'll pay for one of those at your home (if you have a home situation conducive to having a charger fitted, good luck if you live in a flat, terraced house or shared accomodation, and of course you'll need to be a homeowner), so get ready to drive to a charging point and sit around for 30 - 60 mins whilst your car charges to 80%...or 120-150 mins if you want a full charge). Electric cars are the future, no question, however for that future to be realised large scale we need 3 x things to change:- 1. Battery tech needs to improve by at least 50% range per kg of deployed battery to make electric cars viable for the majority of car owners / users, this allows for the real world range of these cars to be sufficient for the majority of driving profiles and it will allow manufacturers to build cars whereby the onus can be on chassis design for the occupants and not chassis design to accomodate the batteries as a primary concern with all other things being built around that (note - this is why most battery cars look like a normal car on steroids, if they don't look like this they usually have really crap battery range..!) 2. Battery tech needs to get markedly cheaper to produce, currently Lithium Ion batteries and the materials required to build them (Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel etc) are too expensive and too difficult to source to be sustainable for large scale battery car droployment 3. EV cars need to become affordable for all, in the UK you can barely get a car you'd want to own for less than £30k and the ones you'd really want are £45k to £65k which is far above the budget of the average person, there needs to be a range of affordable (and relatively good) cars priced between £15k and £25k. If you must have a battery car my recommendation is that you get one on hire purchase, that way your protected from the potential drop in value if and when the next generation of batteries come to fruition.

I would love to own either the Audi or the Rivian SUV.

With electric charged vehicle over ICE , no rocket science technology superlative, should be simple to built and drive & definitely affordable to buy and maintenance free. Main components is the Battery TLC.

Excellent video, but what average person will be able to afford those vehicles? Maybe when the prices come down to teens or mid 20's we'll be able to afford it...plus until the infrastructure is in place around the states and around the world...their not worth the cost.

The Tesla Model Y is a true SUV/Crossover. 300 mile range. With the Tesla 4680 battery now a reality, I am hoping we'll have a model Y with a 400 mile range by the end of 2021. Having owned a Tesla Model 3 since 2018, I have had range anxiety but in just 2 years, I have seen so many new SuperChargers leading to much less range anxiety. As to non-Tesla EVs, the CCS 50 kW/Hr charging system has HALF THE CHARGE SPEED of Tesla SuperChargers. That is a real bummer, and hopefully, 150 kW/hr CCS chargers will be the future. My Tesla has a 75 kW battery, and the Model Y has the same size battery. Increased wind resistance is why the Nissan Ariya will have an 87 kW battery for the AWD version. The extra 12 kW is to fight wind resistance!

I feel these 300 mile vehicles are not going to do well in an evacuation situation. Think Katrina. The folks from New Orleans relocated to Houston which is about 350 miles one way. I wonder if the companies are missing something. Electric cars at at "early adopter" stage which tend to be people that are wanting a green car, as well as a nice to drive car, and save money - though have plenty of up front money - as they are expensive. Are they REALLY suv and crossover customers, I would suggest they are not - since lots of these cars have dreadful efficiency - you are quoting range - but not miles/kwh which us early adopters consider important. So maybe the Tesla model 3 was a good entry point - the most sold electric car now - I wonder why ? Of course the model Y is supposed to be an SUV - but it is really just a hatch-back. Then there is the Zoe - a small car - simple and efficient. And I hope the ID3 does well - it is a car - just a car - efficient - and not a barn door.
