I like Greg Douchett's as he call it "plain a$$ white bread." He tells people what they need to hear, not what they want to hear. If you want to lose weight, you're going to have to put down the fork and eat less calories basically. Not some magic method of manipulating your hormones, macros etc.
I believe this product is out of price range for many of your viewers however I do appreciate the awareness you are providing to us to educate us into making the best decisions we can make for our own individual budgets. Thank you and keep on researching and sharing with us Thomas!
$25's alone for shipping on unbun? Lol. That's incredibly inequitable. As one person who can only eat so much at a time it wouldn't make sense for me to bulk order bread and tortillas... but I'm also not paying $40 for 1 loaf of bread and 6 tortillas. I'll just eat the carbs locally at that point cuz that is atrocious!
You keep them in the freezer until you need them. Trust me, they are delicious! The tortillas and pizza crusts are my favorite. You can also request them from your local grocery store to avoid the shipping charges.
Last Spring I finally began a very strict keto fast and never in my life had I ever felt better! Also lost about 4 sizes in about a couple of months. Was wearing the same size when I was 30 pounds lesser from back in the day. UNBLEIVABLE! Then I went back to work (after lock down) and started 2 meals vs one a day and the eventually weight loss stopped not necessarily gaining exactly yet but it did stop coming off. What happened was, (which I didn't realize yet) I was introduced to these "Keto" breads and tortillas. I again, begun to notice the slow weight gain to the point where I eventually gave up the whole keto diet for a couple months and gained between only 5-8lbs. However, I grew back into the 3/4 sizes! Augh! So now I am determined and serious to go back on Keto and stopped snacking in between, kept 2 meals for starters. Mind you, done this diet for many years and for the first time I was not only not loosing but continued to gain the weight. I thought and thought and the only difference this time around was that damn keto bread and tortillas and so I gave them up! Its been 2 weeks and the weight is finally coming off (5lbs in less than 2wks). FINALLY!! Today was my first research on this and low and behold! Not surprised! The clues I got were not only about non weight loss but these keto friendly breads and tortillas were never found in the healthy food markets. Hmm? Thank you Mr. Thomas DeLauer for the 101. It was a dire need on keeping us informed!
Everyone's body is different, I in particular, have been using the Franz Keto burger buns. And I have stayed in ketosis. So far I'm down 50 lbs. It's working for me, so I'll continue to use it.
For me, the easiest, cheapest thing to do is just not eat bread and tortillas. And I just discovered that El Pollo Loco, the fast food restaurant chain, has now added a keto menu--I hope other fast food outlets wake up and start offering similar keto menus.
Just because it says “keto” does not mean it’s keto. He just said that in the video there’s no regulation for something being called “keto” do your own research.
@@OccupiedBot you need an indrodgenous non wheat, with a lower molecular volume of canola oil, beet oil, or any oil for that matter..well avocoado oil is ok if its grown in a warmer climate just south of the meridian but mostly these thermogenic roots that facilitate and hibernate in these keto breads will cause a spike in your blood glucose level that may or may not break your fast depending on your hereditary incline OR decline of former historic blood clots.
Sad but true. Starting to come to the same realization. It's like bread is bad for you, but "keto" alternatives can also be bad for you. Guess it's just no bread or alternatives then!
Been pretty satisfied with the Aldi zero carb bread - not as an everyday food, but if you're not opposed to wheat, it's an excellent alternative.- use it for an occasional sandwich, french toast, or even bread crumbs. 👍🏻
I've been thinking about the "keto friendly" bread at ALDI.I haven't tried it yet and was thinking about getting some soon. I've been wanting everything you mentioned, especially a grilled cheese sandwich. I wouldn't eat the bread everyday, but it's good to know there is something out there that would help satisfy that craving to make a Dagwood or a BLT.
@@stormcrow8149 Dude try it yourself. I have and it doesn't bring up my levels but a few points. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tbRSnTeTCOU.html
I found a clean one at WFM but you pay $5 or $6 for a measly 454 grams. Base Culture - The Original Keto Bread brand. 4 net carbs in a slice. GMO-free and lab verified as GF. Water, eggs, almond butter, golden flaxseed meal, arrowroot flour, psyllium husk powder, almond flour, ACV, sea salt and baking soda.
Not sure there is research to support wheat gluten being bad for keto and having had Keto bread that had it in and no side effects I’d have to disagree. Great that the sponsor bread doesn’t have it but that price for a loaf is insane. Please post research that shows the negative wheat gluten effect on keto
There are recipes on YT to make your own keto bread from almond flour. Almond flour is a little pricey, but it's cheaper than buying it already made. I recently made an almond flour pizza crust, and it was good. Not as good as real pizza, but it did the trick.
I'm actually pretty hyped that I've found some recipes for wheat gluten, from my understanding the science on gluten being bad is still pretty sketchy and if it's low carb I'm good with that.
Just slapping the label on is so true. I got a keto bowl at qdoba the other day and it had 18g carbs! I had already paid so I ate 1/2 for lunch the next day. But I was shocked that they call it "Keto friendly"
I'm GLAD I watched this video! I have been consuming the Keto brand for a week now. I eat two slices of bread per day in my sandwich for lunches. I WON'T be buying more of that brand once I've used up the loaf I currently have!
Even the clean ones have too many toxic nuts. I created my own cleaner version: 40g almond 60g macadamia 50g psyllium 50g flax 90g coconut --- 2tsp each garlic/onion/tartar 1tsp each soda/salt stevia --- 5x egg whites 2x eggs 430ml water Mostly with coconut and macadamia as they are the healthiest nut in my opinion. And of course lots of eggs.
I continually get frustrated by people saying wheat gluten is bad. For years I've made a vegetarian roast with vital wheat gluten flour and have really liked it. (Seitan) As far as I know, I haven't had any adverse side effects by eating so much of it.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I’ve learned a lot from your videos and I’m just getting started. I just wanted to mention that when you fully hydrogenate an unsaturated fat, you turn it into a saturated fat. The saturated fats do not have double bonds, so they cannot be trans fats. Trans fats have a double bond in the trans position of the unsaturated fat. Partially hydrogenated oils will produce trans fat, but fully hydrogenating an oil does not.
Exactly what I was going to comment, if no one else did. He actually showed the term "fully hydrogenated" on the label -- not "partially hydrogenated" -- so no TRANS-FAT.
Sugar alcohols + IBS = bad day. I stay away from anything that has sugar alcohol in it. Too many times I ate the Atkins bars in the past and couldn't figure out why my bowels were extremely active. So I look at total carbs, even if there is fiber and net carbs are lower, I still count total carbs. I try to stay as clean as I can.
Loving Thomas - He is the reason that the terms "dirty keto" and "dirty fasting" were created. He sets the bar high. With good reason. I appreciate him keeping it real. I want results, I want health and I want success. Sometimes I am going to go with dirty, but as a rule, I am going to target for clean. It works. Look at him, his results are obvious. Also, Thomas NEVER feel you have to justify your pitches, you have to make a living. I love this product and I get it all the time. I also love Uprising Bread, please check them out as well. You rock.
Go to a Kroger store they sell Carb Master bread which has 4 net carbs per slice and it’s just about $5.00 per loaf. This bread tastes like bread, so do the hamburger buns.
It really depends on other things also. Is he eating a lot of sugar, fat, does he have diabetes etc. good for him if he's healthy and able to eat all that bread, I wish I could lol
I like and eat ThinSlim Foods breads. They do have wheat, flax, and chicory root, but adhering to serving size, their breads have never caused me issues. They are quite filling actually, and dont throw off my ketone or insulin levels.
Here is a product that claims is Keto friendly, zero sugar, Kinder's BBQ Sauce Original. That's what it says on the label. When you look at the nutritional fact it has "0" everything. When you look at the ingredients label it says the following: Tomato puree (Water, tomato paste) Brown sugar, sugar, vinegar ...etc. etc. How do they get away with that!!
Dear Thomas , always you come with very interesting topics . I enjoy watching all your videos and I get lot of information. Thank you so much. Love you Thomas.
I like your channel and you have some good ideas and recommendations, however the unbun bread is not one of them. I ordered it and it is pretty much inedible :(
I'm using wheat tortilla wraps. I'm sure they're not keto, but I used to eat bread with everything, so one wrap for my lunch (tuna salad sandwich) seems acceptable to me.
Gotta Give Thomas alot of credit. Educating everyone and providing content that potentially can save peoples lives. The man is true genius and you can see the passion in his voice. keep up the great work.
The Costco KETO white bread has got to be the worst money ive ever spent. It tastes horrible alone, it doesnt toast. I salvaged my 2 loaves by making some french toast.
We just STAY AWAY from bread all together. We have yet to find a clean bread so we air on the side of caution. It was DEFINITELY hard to go without at first but it gets easier with time guys.
Definitely with you. We're doing keto for health. Ditch bread, processed foods, cakes, snacks etc. Of you want health do keto or carnivore. If you want cake and bread.. Good luck to you.
I think you have a point. When trying to lose I think avoiding them is good but there are ones out there that work like this one and the Cube bread Uprising. Regardless you must moderate your carb load whether is from meat, (glycogen) bread or veggies or nuts. It's all about moderation and portion control even with keto
After watching several Dr.s on youtube, they say skip net carbs and only go by Total Carbs. They said the manufacturers are ot being honest about the net carb count. So play it safe only go by the total carbs.
It is also toxic to dogs. Very, very toxic. I have to look at each and every label of things I purchase because my dog is a chowhound and will yoink things off my plate if I turn my head (he's a pup...he's still learning his manners).
I don't eat enough bread to matter but I like the oroweat keto bread. $4 a loaf and it lasts me about two weeks, I keep it frozen. I eat a sandwich once a week and maybe some egg and avocado toast twice a week. I am type two diabetic and I keep.y carbs down to around 40-60 a day, not per meal, per day. I used to eat a cinnamon roll, two crispitos or burritos and an energy drink every day, I am a truck driver, so that breakfast was quick and easy to eat going down the road. After I was diagnosed with type 2 I quit all of that and basically changed my whole eating lifestyle. I've lost two pant sizes, 12lbs and I've only been on my low carb diet for about 4 weeks. I drink lots of water also and eat lots of fiber. I'm 45 and want to live to see my grandkids have kids, eating the way I was I wouldn't have even seen them graduate junior high school.
I'd rather get something like Dave's Killer bread. Its completely clean and organic with tons of protein and omega-3s. I know its not keto but if you have a slice once a week or so then theres no harm. It keeps in the freezer very well.
Whole foods carries unbun!! I'm gonna check them out tomorrow :D It is pricy though but I'll just save the loaf in the freezer for when I get cravings.
@@oscargonzalez6195 it’s called the Best Psyllium Husk Keto Bread and it’s by Primal Edge Health. I can try to send it to you if I can find you on Pinterest.
Very hard to find real low carb bread that actually tastes decent. Usually have to order online, even the health food stores and Whole Foods don’t consistently carry it.
You can actually bake some yourself, there is a great recipe on ketoginger in the u.k.if you are willing to risk the defeat of having it turn out sh*tty.
I tried unbun. It sucks! But the rest of the content in the video was good. Being educated on how to read labels and understanding what you’re reading is very important.
I understand the recommendation but it misses the point when you are clearly trying to promote an specific brand, I know they are giving him money but he needs to stay objective... SOLA in my opinion is a great option
Base culture is the best I've found. I think toasting it improves the taste; overall best I've tried that's both truly keto and actually tastes like bread, not spongey or crumbly.
Taste nothing like bread but as other mentioned toasting it to a really brown color helps the taste.. Can't see making a sandwich with it but it is good to toast and scoop your scrambled eggs on top of it, if you spread butter on top it's even a lil better.
Do a little research on Erythrotol, a very small percentage is sent to bowel for fermentation and the rest is excreated through the kidney. It helps reduce small bowel inflammation and helps with glucose intolerance. Its a good sugar alcohol to use. Little to none is absorbed.
i made bread for the first time a few days ago, i used almond flour, coconut flour, psyllium husk powder, golden flax seeds powder, yeast, baking powder, ACV, olive oil and salt, it was a bit tricky to make but turned out great
I've never messed with xylitol for the simple fact that I have a dog who sometimes gets into stuff and xylitol is deadly to dogs in even small quantities.
Just go get yourself a chaffel maker you can find them on Amazon or Walmart. 1 c.mozzarella- or cheddar and 1 egg. I promise-crunchy, yummy bread like muffins for your hamburgers and sandwiches! Check it out!
I've checked out the store you recommend, and I have to say, for the average person on a fixed income (like me), these foods are way out of our price range. Good info though.
Picked up some Carbonaut bread, 2 net carbs but I noticed on label it's made with potato starch?! What are your thoughts on that? Was surprised to see that in the ingredients
I fell for a keto bread at costco a few days ago. Got home looked at the ingredients and immediately knew I got fooled by the marketing when I saw all the wheat gluten in it 😒
I don't eat bread that often... but when I do... I eat lewis bakery keto bread... not sure how clean you would consider it... but it taste really good to me. But.. BUT.. I try my best to stay away from bread period.
I’d rather you shoot a recipe at me than sell me high priced ketogenic bread. Truth is I wouldn’t be here if someone hadn’t bought me a bread machine pre COVID. Thanks for the lesson in oils.
Hit the like button before even started out of sincere thanks to this guy for helping me lose 98lbs and build a physique thats catching up to his. Let the algorithm thrive
I got a loaf of Unbread and a bag of Unbun on sale for 7.99 each at Whole Foods. Yuck! Waste of money. The taste and consistency ...just yuck. The bun ruined a good burger. I absolutely love the Aldi L'Oven zero carb bread, I usually have two slices per day (sandwich) and my weight loss continues.
Just had my first Unbun today. So GOOD! I don’t need bread but great to find one I can have once in a while. I wonder if they would work in a Turkey stuffing for Canadian thanksgiving 🤔.
The keto one does have a slight gumminess to it. I like the texture of the paleo one better straight out of the bag but if you toast/ oven dry the life out of the keto one, it tastes like real bread. I enjoyed a slice to bulk up my breakfast when I was short on time. Since I was on a budget I rarely ever ate 2 slices in one day! Lol
You can’t never win. What kind of eggs, coconut flour, apple cider vinegar, salt, baking soda, etc are they using that makes 2 loaves of bread so expensive? $32-$40? Are we ever be on a diet on-a-budget? Lol
Sonoma country keto bread multi seed from Costco. How bad is that compared to the white keto bread? I know soy oil has the omega 6 but what if you are balancing it with high omega 3?
I love my Healthy Life Keto Bread, I don't care what anybody says. My favorite are the 0 carb Hawaiian and the Cinnamon flavors. They cost aprox $6.25 per load, but they're worth it.
Not all sugar alcohols are bad, erythirol is the exception to the rule as it should not raise blood sugars. It isn't converted into sugars as is the case with maltitol and xylitol.
Makes me want to run into the kitchen and check the ingredients for my Aldi L'Oven Fresh bread!..... Dang. Looks like what I have will be the last that I'll use.... :-(
if that is the zero carb bread it works for me and doesn't kick me out, ingredients are not great but you will never have good tasting bread without some of those ingredients, test your ketones and if it doesn't kick you out you could keep using it
Make your own bread with Victoria's Keto Kitchen bread recipes. Sometimes to do things right, you're better off doing it yourself. It doesn't have to be time consuming as she has easy soda bread that she just adds some yeast to for flavor.
