So I can totally answer this for you. Factory battery size was inadequate for the amperage of the tacoma. If you look at the factory battery it’s 580 something cca. But toyota realized this was not enough cca especially when you start adding electronics like light bar and off road cams etc. therefore they changed the factory cca battery to 650cca after they realized this. once you get the 650 cca + battery it solves all issues. I’m guessing you live in a warmer environment which will allow batteries to last longer but for me in NY state i literally was having issues w the factory battery within 2 years. Bigger cca battery and you’re all set! Happy trails Chloe!!!
Relocating your battery to under your bed on the opposite side of your gas tank will make a huge difference in the way your truck handles. Not only are you removing 50 lb from the front but adding it to the rear will give you a net weight transfer effect of 100 lb.
My kids Tacoma 2018 factory battery just got changed out earlier this year after 5 years, it did its job but replace with a AAA battery those are usually good we will see in another five years!
New battery and add the big 4 upgrade, my 2020 tacoma never miss a breath starting up even with a full sound system and 4 amps. All the stock load from the batt and alt is given way more free flow power to all the electronics
I bought a AGM battery back in 2016 for one of my cars. When I use a battery tester it shows it is getting weaker. Cold cranking reserve is dropping. I did a once a month routine of using a trickle charge on it.
I am under the impression that AGM batteries I'm not good candidates for use under the engine. This is due to the high temperatures which AGM batteries do not like. It will be interesting to see how long this new battery lasts. 😅
That's the Silver Sky Metallic color right? Have you ever noticed little scratches under the door handle? They show up so much in my Silver Sky paint even though I try not to ever let my nails (trimmed short too) scrape the paint. Every door handle on my truck shows scratches there and every fix I've tried only gets rid of them temporarily
Actually there far worse then the lead acid ones. Those were my top sellers for used cars. Was replacing those pos batteries. Marine batteries are where there at.
damn... imagine trying to diagnose that later down the road! next owner puts a flooded battery and it gets damaged from overcharging... What software was used to flash the ECM and modify the alternator output voltage?
I do car audio and have 2 agm batteries and I’m getting a third eventually. They are better that regular lead batteries because they can be ran down and recharged many times. A regular lead battery will go bad after 3-4 times. Hence the “deep cycle “ ability
Not the best choice due to their temperature restrictions. There's a few brands that have a BMS to address those issues but they are the most expensive brands out there, over $1000!
