I’m currently shooting a mankung stalker 185lb crossbow and I now realise it is way to powerful for the back garden . I used to shoot a jag2 pro which was great for home shooting but now I have to go to a range as I went to powerful a bow and it’s compound as well so good advice mate I shall now purchase a lower poundage bow.

Spot on there mike good advice! I started with a 175lb jaguar and it was great until the arthritis really kicked in, now I've fitted a 110 lb prod and I can use it again. It's a great xbow :)

Cheers Jim, bloody good crossbows aren't they, and yeah 110lb limbs, or less are much better for a nice shooting session aren't they, when i did a recent shooting contest for the channel with metallic i was cocking this with 150lb limbs, after about 12 shots i stopped and used the cocking rope for the rest of it.

@@WeaponCollector i'd run it as my best crossbow tbh 😂 i love reasonably priced simplicity + i'm poor people. my sister cant even take the flex outta a 150lb xbow or even 90lb 😂 Our island is up for grabs which is no secret , a wise man would be reviewing a female specific xbow = youtube algorithms will have a fit trying to show the entire planet your video😂 , trust me buy a 25 - 30lb simple pistol bow that a 110lb female can operate , they exist , but nobody's milking the pro women youtube loop hole .

i have a mankung hound, its around the same price as the jaguar but comes with an adjustable stock and a straighter "more tactical" pistol grip, which is better for me as i have shit wrists for a guy in his early 20s haha. i did have an MK 120 but the ABS stock cracked after a drop unfortunately. but took the prod of that and put it on the hound for a light draw crossbow. I really should get back into archery but ive been very into my air guns recently so ive not shot my bows as much as id like.

Are the 175 lb limbs interchangeable with the 150? I have a SAS manticore.

yes you can use limbs that range from 40lb, 105lb, 120lb, 150lb to 175lb on the jaguar / firecat crossbow (same as the sas manticore)

Its one i've never got round to buying, because i'm in to my repeaters, but considering the simplicity, price, power, probably a third more power than the little redback with full size bolts, and the redback packs a punch. With me it takes months to decide on anything, a car, holiday, bow. Price excluded what's the power like in comparison to the adder? Cheers.

Its a decent basic crossbow mate with not much to go wrong on it, it defo has more power then the adder, but is more bulky, takes longer to cock etc.

@@WeaponCollectorMy redback, the single shot, i've shot hundreds of times nothing's gone wrong, had it for a while, no fraying on the strings. Bought a spare string,wax them every five shots. Very reliable

Is it ok to keep the bow string strung like you have in this video for long term storage? and if not do you know how long roughly it'll take to damage the string / limbs while its strung?

Most crossbows you do not need to remove the string, on a traditional bow you do, but crossbows can be left for years strung and it well not cause an issue.

Disagree. It’s an OK crossbow, and if all you can afford is less than a hundred yeah it’s OK. But that’s about it. The trigger on this has not improved in the decades since it was first designed, and that trigger pull is heavy enough to disrupt your aim. If you have $200 to spend, the current Barnett Wildcat is a far better option.

The Barnett Wildcat is an excellent crossbow, but its over three times as expensive as this one in the U.K, thats out of most beginners price range, there are not in the same range, i'm trying to come up which ideas for crossbow that are affordable, if you talking over £180 for a crossbow i'd recommend a EK Archery R9 (for £280 - what the wildcat is - i'd suggest getting the venom limbs to make it 190lb too)

I’m frugal. I don’t spend unnecessarily. I had the Jaguar, and it almost put me off crossbows because the heavy trigger makes it inaccurate. By the time you get to the R9, you’re spending 6x the Jaguar instead of 3x.

@@glenking4164 @Gk2003m can i ask you two, how old are you jaguars? mine doesn't have a really hard trigger pull, its weird, i suspect you two have older models (but could be wrong) , did it have the old wooden stock?

Your tech level is 12th century go buy a ball valve ffs 😂 you get 22lr energy damage from 10ftlb if that ten ftlb is a 6'' railway sleeper spike , i put them through TWO phone books with sub 12ftlb , why would you never dabble in this extremely simple + efficient tech ??? I have +10 of them they literally cost £20 to make and they'd absolutely piss all over a 150lb crossbow because air is efficient as f if you use a good chuck of mass , .177 + 22 are the worst use of compressed air ever , even a low powered 9mm is at least 100gr .
