All your twisted secrets by Diana Urban was really really good + The seven husband of Evelyn Hugo oh my god!!! From non-ficition it is surely Atomic Habits and The molecule of More
Before they are hanged. I thought it definitely delivered on what was set up in the first book and I've ordered last argument of kings from the library and am excited to read that. I also really enjoyed the Martian.
Just a fun fact, the original title of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is Men Who Hate Women, which the book is called in the Scandinavian languages. I saw an interview where someone who worked with Stieg Larsson said that he would have turned over in his grave if he knew that the title was changed in English 😅
Wow, The Blade Itself and Jade City! It makes me happy seeing these two books on your best so far list! :) Btw, Emily, you're so close to reaching 100k. Why am I so excited!?
I’ve finished 45 books so far this year. My favorites have been Hamnet, Concrete Rose, Senlin Ascends, Warbreaker Convenience Store Woman, and the first two books in the First Law trilogy.
Omgosh I just finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and I’m so glad I did! THANK YOU for convincing me! I’ve heard the books series for so long but because I’ve watched the movie and was so put off by it I didn’t even give the books a chance. I’m so glad I did, soooooooooo much better than the movie!
I absolutely LOVED The Blade Itself, I read all three of them in like 2 weeks and I've bought the other standalones that continue in the world too! I will rave about this series forever, I'm so glad you loved it too :)
@@BookswithEmilyFox dear Emily you do have a fan following in India. In some future video please review these Indian Sci fi books which are in English. You will attract a very large number of views. 1. The Return of Vaman by J. V. Narlikar 2. The Five Friends Battle Against Aliens by Kiran Kumar Singh 3. Chosen Spirits by Sumit Basu 4. Aliens in Delhi by Sami Ahmad Khan
i also read the blade itself in feburary. Gokta is amazing, and i root for him throughout the series. cant wait to hear your thoughts on the rest of the trilogy.
Awesome video! My favourites of this quarter were The Poppy War (I read the whole trilogy in January and they were all 5 stars ✨), Piranesi, If We Were Villains, and Real Life.
Very happy to hear that you loved The Blade Itself - I’m hoping to pick up the sequel either this month or next month. I own Jade City and really want to get to it soon - I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it! Great video Emily 😊
The Blade Itself is now higher on my tbr tower ♡ I'm soon buddy reading Jade City and can't wait to start it, only heard great things about it! I only saw the movie of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Daniel Craig and that was the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. But I'm also a scaredy cat 🤷♀️
Two of my absolute favorites for this year are Nimitz Class by Patrick Robinson and Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center. Omg!! I don't know how much sway my single comment may have, but both are so good! I did not expect to love a naval mystery as much as I did! Incredible.
Glad you enjoyed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I still need to read the rest of the series. I still need to read Kindred too. Thanks for a great video. 😊💙
I read Jade City recently too and absolutely loved it. I'm holding off on Jade War only because the third one isn't out yet and I don't want to have to wait a long time between book two and three.
I can count on 1 hand the books I've reread, and the Stieg Larsson books are 3 of them! I desperately wish Larrson was still alive to share his wtiting, because I can't find anything that comes close to his writing and storyline abilities. Absolute perfection!
I love NK Jemisin, I totally forgot she had a short story in that collection! Glad you really liked Jade City :)! I wanna read that series so badly, but I just keep putting it off because it's kinda long 😂.
That Joe Abercrombie series holds up, so I think you'll enjoy all of them! Best books I read this year so far: The Nevermore series, the 2nd Murderbot, North and South, but that probably had a lot to do with the audio narrator Gemma Whelan. I also liked I Called Him Necktie, if you like contemporary Japanese, it's great.
The best books i’ve read so far is definitely godsgrave by jay kristoff and the girl who kickes the hornet’s nest! The last one is the third book in the millennium trilogy and oh boy, the book hangover was real!! Since you enjoyed the first, just wait because the universe only gets so much bigger!!
You are definitely enjoy before they are hanged and the last argument of Kings I finished the trilogy about to read best served cold I need to finish the girl in the dragon tattoo series can't wait for jade legacy comes out November 7
Do you think that, in order to read and comprehend the book "the new Jim crow", we should have some previous knowledge about the topic? my knowledge about the subject in the American (US) context, about the Jim Crow Laws is very limited, i have a general idea, do you think i can read this one and not feel lost? Great video!
My faves so far this year have been: The House in the Cerulean Sea, Station Eleven, Kindred, and my fave memoir in a long time is From the Ashes: My Story of Being Métis, Homeless, and Finding my Way. A story very North American should read, especially non indigenous folx. Also if you liked "The New Jim Crow," you should read "White Tear/Brown Scars." TBH everyone should, but especially white ppl.
SPOILERS FOR KINDRED that scene where the kids play a game imitating slave trade was so brutal and opened up the floor for so many discussions about ethics through the ages and environmental factors. That book was fantastic and the more you look at it, the more disgusted and horrified you are.
If you like thrillers you should read "Le Chuchoteur" by Donato Carrisi (sorry, I understand french but don't know to write) and anything by Pierre Lemaitre
I CANNOT WAIY UNTIL YOU READ “The Girl Who Played With Fire”. I bet you will want to start “The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest” IMMEDIATELY AFTER!!!!! 😁😁😁😁
Great video. I gave Emergency Skin 2 stars... I found it to be un-nuanced and too simplified for the idea. I think Blake Crouches was my favorite so far out of the series. I always see The girl with the dragon tattoo at thrift stores and I am always interested in picking it up, but I never do.... maybe I will next time. I love fast paced thrillers.
hello!! i noticed the book emergency skin is part of the forward collection so i wanted to ask, do i have to read the series in order? or can i start with emergency skin?
