its been a few years. do you still use your a7rii? if not how long did you continue to use it after this video and about how many weddings did you take with it? right now its about 1200 for this camera and the newst 3500 and can burst 10fps along with way better battery...

Great video. What you say about tech and companies changing and bringing new stuff out is so true. It don't make you a better photographer it's how you use the gear you have. For my weddings I use my Sony A7ii and Sony A7Rii I love the results I get from the cameras and to upgrade won't make my work look any better. It's how we use our gear that makes for a great image. Finally!!! I have a Sony a7rii as well and I'm shooting my first wedding! I'm so excited :)) but unfortunately there are no other sony wedding RU-vid photographers..until I found you! Which ones do you recommend the most? I don't know whether to go for a canon RP or this sony, leaving aside the batteries, only in the functionalities and results with a good lens.

I've been in the video world for a long time and just moving to more stills than usual for some extra $. I tried looking for a video that would explain the things you talk about during wedding photography with no luck until I came across your vid. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and tips. Hey! I found this video really clear and concise and your photos are really amazing. I'm very interested in knowing how you colour grade your photos as that has always been an issue to me as I'm completely clueless on how to colour grade properly.

thanks for that Dominic! I'll my process one of these days! For now though, it's really all about what style you find yourself liking most. Then you kind of go through a process where you dissect a photos colors, shadows, exposure, etc. Search for some lightroom presets you may like - then adjust it accordingly!

Great vid Omar. I just started using the A7rII and I can't believe I waited this long to make the switch from Canon. I'm looking to grab a 35 for this bad boy. I saw the review you did comparing the Rokinon and Zeiss 35 and was wondering did the eye af feature work with either of the 2. And what lens did you get these shots with. Awesome!!!! Thanks man

most of my shots are with the 55 1.8 - probably my favorite lens // Depends on your budget, you cant go wrong with either one. ALSO sigma announced that theyre dropping some sony lenses this year - look out for those too

I've done many of weddings with the A7r2 and it works great, I also have the A9, short and sweet. A7R2 Dynamic Range is the best!!!, Detail is crazy and i love the room to be able to crop so much with the A7r2, ISO is very good. A9 the AF is wicket, the best and in every other spec. wise the A9 is better to me, I'm still not sure about the ISO but i lean to the A9. After saying that it's funny who important DR is, I find myself wanting the DR from the A7R2 and the 42 mp for cropping for the most part. If Sony makes a A9 with a 42 mp and DR of the A7R2 game over, I don't care what name they call it lol. Great review bro. I also love lens reviews so if you can do more of that it would be great. Sony native preferred. :)

A lower IQ camera is better than missing a shot. So A9 for me even though I'm using an RII now. The reason i stays with Rii is because I'm waiting for the Mark III of the A7 series.

After using the A7r2 for 2 years now and using the A9 for about 3 to 4 months at the end of the day, i would never go back to the A7R2 as my main camera for weddings, sports or event shooting and the IQ on the A9 is great!, i do still love the A7r2 for my landscapeing and Portraits because of the better DR. Just Me.

Great video dude. 1. I'm a Nikon shooter. My tool is the Nikon D810. 2. I'd love to see consistency in your videos. A lot of RU-vidrs come and go. Your content is great and your photos obviously speak for themselves. I also realize there are a LOT of Sony shooters on RU-vid. With that said, just be yourself and don't emulate what everyone else is doing. Now, I'll go stalk you on IG. 😂 Blessings

I’m looking to upgrade from a Canon rebel T6 due to a lot of barn weddings. Trying to stay in a frugal budget. I’d love to get the a7iii but I need sony lens. I’d love to get away with the a7ii for my first big switch to a camera that works better in low light. In you opinion does the a7ii stack up next to the a7rii as far as iso well? I know it’ll be shades better than the rebel t6 but should I spend the extra amount?? Thanks!

I do shoot raw and post process my image in LR and PS. I however struggle editing my photos and getting skin tone right. My question was, if you are using creative style like portrait or standard and how you do your White Balance in-camera.

When you try to accommodate couples based off of their editing style it won't help your brand. They chose me because of my style and eye. Just be you and put out what you like and if there's passion behind it people will take notice!

Appreciate the input Omar. .I now use the Sony a7ii, and also have the a6000. I was asked about doing a wedding in April. ...let's see. My first wedding was shot with the nikon d600. My question is about the sdhc cards....which ones did you use? Or do you recommend? Nice pictures by the way. Great tips about not shooting everything in sight.

prime portrait lens // 35 50 85 wide lens // 16-35 / 24-70 telephoto // 70-200 (if you're shooting in a big space or far from the alter or whatever)

No I don't think at all it fell short, however, I can totally see if you aren't prepared with extra batteries or sd cards - that it can catch up to you and slow you down. I also don't find more than the ceremony portion you're bursting away which then would also slow down the camera.

I really only reccomend native lenses whether that be GM series, or Sony Zeiss FA lenses.

The A7II is great - i would say if you get the camera down it would work great for you. Honestly, it does so much the a7rii does photography wise. One of my big reasons of upgrading was also for the video features - which slams the a7ii in that arena. As far as image quality - there is a higher dynamic range for the a7rii, better low light.performance..BUT I would possibly get the a7ii and native zeiss or g master lenses. Learn the crap out of the camera then upgrade when the a9 price drops.

How much better is the AF on the A7Rii compare to the A7ii?

I would say definitely better however as long as youre shooting with native lenses you shouldn't have to worry about the difference.

I still have a few Canon lens and I was using the sigma MC11 to mount them on my A7ii originally. The AF is decent but not fast and accurate enough. I ended up returning the a7ii and got the a7rii. Now I am happy with the performance even with adaptive lens. But you are right, native lens is the way to go. I bought the 55mm zeiss/sony FE, that little lens is amazing. I can truly enjoy the continuous eye AF now.

I wouldnt make a conclusion when talking af using adapters. I've only used native lenses and I can tell you they are awesome. RII compared to the 7II i would say just slightly better. Nothing pressing if youre doing tradition photography. The big jump is from these series of cameras is the a9.

Did a wedding just the past weekend with my newly bought A7Rii. I am very impressed with it even with adapted lens. Low light performance out perform my canon 6D. Able to shoot at ISO 6400 with very useable images. Native lens just push it up a notch though, at the whole reception, I only used my Zeiss 55 f/1.8. Continuous eye AF is the winner here.

killer, theres a lot of talks that its actually better than the a7sii. Face detection on it is strong and it definitely helps if you have native lenses.
