I am literally using your videos to decide on products to purchase to start a career in detailing and paint correction. You are an amazingly generous guy for helping us out with your second to none quality of testing, appraisals and guidance. Thanks heaps mate.
Sandro..... greetings from brazil.... you just put on video a master piece of detailing..... i am very happy to find your work on youtube ..... thanks for all .... you leave your knowlodge for eternety
I put 3D #500 & #501 cutting compounds and 502 & 520 polish as well as sonax cutmux and fine line polish over menzerna and scholls and way above meguires 105
hmm. we share similar views on products, especially cost. I've had slightly different opinions at times though, but surely it's due to the different paints we have dealt with. I liked this video, and don't recall another like this
Great and informative overview (rather than review). The background music is too loud but still, many thumbs up anyway!! :)) I do not agree a little bit with M205 that is similar, I think I'ts place in cutting and finishing is quite between Menzerna SF2500 and SF4500 (which is older name for 3500) when same amount of polishing time is used. M205 has non-diminishing abrasives whereas 2500 and 4500 has diminishing abrasives, so with M205 I can modulate polishing time to get different results in compare Menzerna polishes, where I have to just complete the working cycle to not overwork or underwork the polish. I don't know if you are aware of this and just want to keep the video short but if you are not, give it a try! :)
I find all of your videos informative and helpful. Do you know if Concours Car Care is still in business? I see their website is down and their Facebook page doesn't show much recent activity.
Great vid, my go to has been the Meg 101 followed by Meg 201 combo. However for daily driver I've been leaning more towards finding a one step instead. I use a random orbital because I'm a noob and I don't want to burn through my paint lol. It takes me roughly 3-4hrs to compound and then another 3-4hrs to polish. Way too much for a non show car. I do the cross pattern method and my arm speed may be too slow or something. 🤣 I'll be detailing my cousin's car this weekend and with him only giving me a day and a half I'll definitely be leaning towards a one step process followed by a nice sealant and wax on top.
Sandro your voice now days seems more mature and deeper. And certainly comea long way from the early days. And that piano music what is going on there???LOLOLOL
Hi Sandro, I'm trying to decide between S20 Black & Fixer. Fixer is a good bit cheaper for me, but is it sun friendly & what is the cut, work time & finish like compared to S20 please? I think I'm going to have to go through & give all your videos a thumbs up. They deserve it!
Car Craft Auto Detailing You're welcome & it's the least I can do. I've noticed there's a few other detailer pros watching your videos now, the good word must be spreading! Thanks again for the advice Sandro. I think I'll go for the S20 then & a slightly more aggressive pad if needed. My girlfriend/partner asked me today how much all this stuff is going to cost. Let's just say in the end I told her to shh lol I've told her I'll do my best on her car a silver mk5 Golf & I'm going to use my mum's pretty rough 2002 burgundy Fiat Punto as a 'test' vehicle. I'll do some before & after shots & maybe send them too you lol It's going to be on the back burner a little bit though as I have some costly but minor repairs to do to my car after a recent track day (Brakes, tyres ect.).
Thank you for this wonderful review! it was just like having a professional detailer as a friend who can teach me everything quickly! 🙂 I have just some swirlls on my black car, it is a maserati and I assume like any european car the paint is hard? I will buy Scholl S20 and for the finish I use Nv FINESSE that you provided the link. then I use glaze with DA polisher, then I do manual glaze with hand, then I wax it and then I use Nova jet to seal it. Also for the maintenance I will apply Nova luster after one or two months. This is my first experience and my goal is a show car gloss, something shining and beautiful. Am I doing this right? 🙂 Your oponion is greately appreciated!
Thanks and my absolute pleasure mate. And yes that sounds like a great process to remove defects, amplify gloss and maintain the finish moving forward!
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Thank you so much! Based on what I have learned from several videos of your channel. this is my final plan: Phase 1: cutting with Orange HDO Polishing Pad, then if necessary go to Blue HDO Light Cutting Pad, then again Orange HDO Polishing Pad, so it is orange, if needed blue, then orange with Scholl Concepts S20 BLACK ( I am single, I can marry it! 😄) Phase 2: finishing only Black HDO Finishing Pad with Nova FINESSE. Phase 3: Glaze it with Poorboy's World Black Hole Show Glaze for Dark Vehicles. For cutting with Scholl Concepts what speed is good for DA polisher? from 1 to 6?
That general process is something I still use to this day, obviously depending on the results I’m seeing in person so it sounds great mate. Every machine is a little different but on average mid to high speeds is where I tend to be when cutting on dual action polishers. On rotaries and gear driven polishers I’ll usually be on slightly lower speeds in general.
Car Craft Auto Detailing I think I paid $14 us for the speed shine and $12 us for postage so I got two bottles. Adams detail spray is awesome too and they have an AU online outlet.
Love your channel, you explain things so well to the common user and novice. What would you recommend for a new car, blue, minor washing scratches? In all in one, finishing wax or dedicated polish? Paint is in great condition, just some minor scratches from washing before i started to watch your channel lol..
Thank you.. i have a da, have used it on daily drivers with an aio.. what polish would you recommend for minor imperfections on good paint? Not sure how soft or hard chevy camaro 2019 paint is.. from what i read.. average.
Where Sonax cut max & Sonax Perfect Finish will reside in your list? Also 3m perfect it series? By the way I have tested Rupes compound & polish they are the same level as menzerna 400 & 3500.
I'd like to know your thoughts on griots among this wide variety of products. I use Mcguires for a baseline and then finish out with griots, but I'm not sure if you have access to griots there in Melbourne
I've watched so many videos already about polishing and compounding. Can someone tell which compound with which pad to get and which polisher with which pad a beginner should get right off the bat?
Hi Sandro As always i love the vids and the way you explain things. Thank you. If you had to remove some very very fine light almost hairline scratches on an Outlander probably caused by me when washing/drying etc what product would you use and will also be done by hand as i don't have a machine at the moment. The cars not bad i am just pedantic and they aren't everywhere i just like to stay on top of it being a new car etc.
Ok mate i appreciate it very much. I'll try that and see how i go i've recently just purchased a new drying towel so hopefully doesn't happen again or let's just say not as often. As always grazie
well they have clay bar for cleaning and detailing. I am going to try something that is a clay bar substitute which is a reusable clay bar. On another note I would like to mention Since I started using Menzerna I use less material than other brands because it stays on the wheel. I loose a lot less from fling. Plus like you say it wipes off easy. Many years ago I used a product for oxidation removal called from a brand called Parko Blue. it was a one wipe wax on wax off type removal. One simple easy wipe on and all the oxidation was gone. Amazing stuff. Easy rubbing and no residue.
www.parko-polishes.com/ just found it. Not sure what the product was. I know your in AU. This is US company. Havent used it in many many years. But remember how good it was. With clearcoats today you dont see much oxidation but years ago it was a huge time saver on blending panels. also worked well on complete detail. Have a few friends here from AU in socal.
Okay awesome ! Thank you for the advice for that I will stay clear of it. I was looking at the compounds in auto barn I couldn't decide which to choose out of the meguiars ultimate compound or the ultimate polish by meguiars. Il have a look into the compound instead. Thank you again
I'm thinking of using HDspeed. I just want to shine up my paint. The paint doesn't seem to bad. What pad would I use, like a medium pad? I figure I'll start on the light side first and if that doesn't make me happy, I could get something else.
Another great video, I adore using s0 matting compound for "spot sanding" areas on paintwork that my traditional compound won't remove. I've never tried using it to remove orange peel because like you mentioned it's a messy product to work with but for panels that have excessive damage it is great to have and has saved me time by not having to bust out sanding materials. I've got two quick questions... I live in the US and the only way I really have access to scholl's products is through the occasional ebay listing. But is there somewhere I can print off Scholl's labels like you have on the bottles of s0 and s02 orange? I like having labels for all of my polishes and compounds if possible. My second question is, have you tried meguiars m101 foam cut compound or m100 pro speed compound? Anyway, love the videos and I hope their's more to come!!! Would love to hear your thoughts on what you believe to be the best bare metal polishes and metal polishing pads.
Thanks so much for the response. That is such a good idea to transfer the labels onto self cleaning bottles. You are right about Scholl's bottles, they produce some of the best compounds and polishes I've used but for some reason they still use the most primitive dispensers I've ever used.
Ok thanks. After using HDSPEED and wanted to add a longer lasting wax/sealant could you just add on top or IPA car and remove HDSPEED first then add sealant?
hey sandro. Awesome informative vid. Can i just say you sound like Angelo from FI. Have you tried the Angelwax R's. They are awesome I agree with a lot of your comments here particularly the s20, however the only reason I wouldnt marry it is because of harder wipeoff.
so after almost a year from this review, whats the ''most'' sunfriendly compound/polish you have expirienced? any diluted polish with water helps in the sun?
Hello sir i have a peugeot 206 1999 model white single stage and the color is fade and oxidize,i have buy auto glyms paint renovator 3m rubbing compound and swirl remove and rupes zaphir and quartz gloss i have also rupes pads green blue yellow and m3 pads medium hard sift and microfider pad, also i have rotary and orbital polisher how you recommend to start and what compinations or any other compound if you have in mind? Thank you very much!
I think this video needs to be redone if it already hasn't. First, I'd not add that annoying soundtrack and second, an update on the products as they have evolved since the filming of this video.
Thanks for the advice and the fast response! I understood compounding means removing paint/clear coat so there is always a limitation on how much/often we can do due to the thin layers. Is it not possible do compounding only on certain areas e.g. waterspots/ tree sap and not the whole car (just bought a new Honda)? I also notice that on a brand new car the paint does not seem to be mirrorlike like what you show in the videos after detailing, is this normal? On Waxit website there seems to be a new Concours compound for Japanese cars citing softer paint, how do we know we need this coz for me they all look the same? Thanks in advance. BTW, do you know how I can get my hands on Concours products as Waxit does not ship to Singapore?
Thanks. Was looking for a good wax/sealant that can prevent these spots rather than having to "rework" every week. Probably will test out the Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax and their claybar.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing What would you suggest for a beginner? Let's say I want to spend the least on a setup ( polisher /pads/ compound) , just to try polishing. Keep in mind that almost all compounds cost the same in my country.
Car Craft Auto Detailing what type of pad would u use i noticed with a microfirbe pad with s3 leavess streaks also s3 i noticed its hard to get of having too use 2 microfibre
