Great comparison guys. I have two of the ridgid corded models and like how you have to pull the power switch up to turn it on. But for cordless, I have four of the M18 routers; they're simply amazing.

I got the Kobalt last Fall as a free tool by buying a 2AH and a 4AH battery kit with a charger for $129. I use it way more than my router table now. Love it. Good review!

I have 2.. I have my Milwaukee M18 and I bought a Bauer (from Harbor Frieght), and I have to say.. I was very impressed with the Bauer!! I bought it to mill out 80% AR15/AR10/AR9 lowers, so I didn't have to worry about harming my M18, and it truly surpassed all of our expectations for a $60 (on sale) router from HF! The only downside is that it's corded, and not battery powered. That's fine for me though as I keep it plugged in right above my workbench in my shop and only use it in that area.

I looked at that Bauer router and ultimately ended up going with a refurbished Makita RT0701C (of which the Bauer is an earnest copy) for the exact same price as the new Bauer. Glad to hear they did a good job on the copy though!

I had to give it to Makita myself... primarily due to the quality of their plunge base and how Dewalt's "twisting" depth adjuster (which is a 40-year-old style of adjustment). With that said... Next year, or 2023 at the latest, a definitive winner will be crowned, and it will be a long-awaited newcomer. And it will change the way people see cordless routers. I can't wait till everyone gets to feel this tool!

I have the dewalt. Been pretty happy with it. Wish they accepted half inch bits as that's mainly what I have.

I heard Makitas version have adapters for this..

The ergonomic factor of the Makita would be important to me, plus I already have the plunge base for the corded model I bought several years ago. Strongly considering the Makita, although I do have a bunch of DeWalt batteries...
@carterscustomrods

Pssst.. an adapter can be used and you can get them for $25 or so. And, the 18v makita were on sale for Black Friday, at $79, from Fasteners Inc... I hope you got one.

Metabo HPT/Hikoki already released the first 1/2 in beast overseas 36V-I just shipped one here-Luv it They also have an 18V and 36V trim router as well I have the Milwaukee trim router and it works well and has more raw power and easier micro adjustment than the Makita-my son in Law has the Rigid which also performs well-we also got the rigid planer that outperforms my older standby Makita

PLEASE review the Metabo HPT 36v 1/2” router for us! Also, tell them to bring it to the States!! I love my Metabo HPT tools, but I wish they brought more of them to the US.

@CSLFiero 3 года назад
The hikoki dual power is genius, but i don't think you can get the full cordless power unless you use those chunky batteries. Could be wrong, but i think when makita comes out with its xgt router it will be much more wieldable.

@@baraksinz2937 RU-vidrs putting out reviews might light a fire under hitachi to bring them over. I hope they realize breaking into the market with USA's big three means you have to show up with one of a kind products. Hitachi is too good to be on rigid/worx/kobalt tier

@@CSLFiero Honestly, I don’t find the batteries size bad at all. Definitely nothing like Milwaukee’s 9 and 12 ah batteries.

sorry I think this was a poor test. How about was it consistent{the cuts} ? Did it feel cheap or parts weak? Any of them have a slow startup? Using a 1 hour then switching to a bigger battery or the other way make any cut off? Thanks for the vid.

Snagged the Makita as a "free with battery kit" deal at Home Depot, returned the batteries, kept the router for a net $75 👍. The deal is still active, kit # BL1840BDC2.
@FyrFytr998

As a consumable commodity, wouldn’t it have been better to keep the batteries?
@PhillyFixed
@PhillyFixed 3 года назад
@@FyrFytr998 Nah... at least not for me. I already have plenty of Makita batteries. I'm talking probably 10 or 12. And even my old 3aH packs that pre-date them adding a fuel gauge still hold a charge just fine.
@FunAtDisney
@FunAtDisney 3 года назад
I do not see this at all, and Makita’s kit# all start with “XTR”. Also I have found once HD catches on they take the offer down, or make it a combp offer that cannot be separated.
@FahimibnDawud
@FahimibnDawud 3 года назад
@@PhillyFixed I think his point was that the battery cells WILL deplete and fail at some point.
@PhillyFixed
@PhillyFixed 3 года назад
@@FahimibnDawud Agreed, and I think his comment made sense. For me, though, my batteries span a wide age range and I just didn't need two more. Plus, I prefer 2aH for compact and 5 or 6 for extended run, 4aH is in the middle and I don't really use them.

I’m on the M18 platform and love it. I have held off on the trim router due to reviews complaining movement in the micro adjust. Did your testing result in the bit moving up and/or down? I have red multiple complaints about the issue. Some reviews stated that the movement ruined projects.
@mr.t9976
@mr.t9976 3 года назад
I had this happen to me once but I thought maybe it was because I didn’t tighten the bit all the way. Now I make sure to snug it down good and haven’t ran into that problem again.
@baraksinz2937
@baraksinz2937 3 года назад
Like Luis stated, it’s mostly due to not snugging the collet tight enough around the bit. If the whole router is slipping in the base, then just tighten the clamp up.

Id go for a Makita purely because their batteries last longer unlike Dewalt , if Dewalt batterie are left for months on end without use they die thats been my experience .
