b/c the game paused for a possible action, and nearly no one puts on automatic stops in arena to incease game speed. Shock is the only possible card in this set that would create that 'pause' with one mountain untapped

In arena’s best of 1, your initial hand is selected as the one with best land/spell ratio among two random hands, making it less likely that you’ll have mana screw, hence people tend to play one less land to maximize the amount of spells in their deck. But generally, 17 lands is the recommended amount, this is an exception for arena’s best of 1.

they put the onus on playing in a mtg-like environment on the individual player to engage 'full control' for every turn instead of having an interface that keeps hidden information, hidden.

autopass should work better, I said auto pass I'm not gonna cast a shock, put it on me to take it off if I change my mind so there's at least an option to not leak the information I have a castable instant. After playing a while it's very annoying how much you can know just from stops that doesn't happen in paper. People should bluff with stops more.
