Thank you Dr. Jones for living in your light and sharing your truth. God bless you. I had something to share to the people, I had read a few articles on coconut oil that is liquid at all times even when cold, this is called "fractionated coconut oil". This process removes over 50% of the lauric acid in the oil. Lauric acid is what kills/repels the fleas. I highly recommend using regular coconut oil and melting it in a cup on top of warm oven just to make sure your getting the full benefits of the coconut oil. Thank you all and God please help us get rid of these fleas 😭
I have been using this on my Pug for two years and this really works, You will need to spray about every 2 to 3 days. but fleas and ticks stay off of him. It also repels flies, gnats, and mosquitoes.
so Im wondering does your dog get checked for heartworms since I have them pretty bad by the creek here but i don't want to use the nextguard, the stuff to prevent all cuz he ate poison bug be gone ate thru hose as a 3 month pup and he couldn't use his back legs and still has issues from it .. I skipped 6 mos with my other boy and he tested positive for HW Larve., heartguard took care of it well.. The thing is I only gave him the meds only during the season never in the winter to give his body a break. He never tested positive and now they make you do the testing too often ... I need a new type of vet!
May I recommend rotating the neem and the cedarwood oils separately. Ticks and fleas do develop immunity to toxins and pass them on to their offspring. Once they’re starting to not respond to one oil, switch to another. I’m sure there are other antiparasitic, pet safe liquids that can be rotated in too.
I care for myself Holistically, so I care for my pets the same way too. I am a fan of Veterinary Secrets, and thanks, Dr. Jones for the flea spray recipe!🥰
@@VeterinarySecrets Dr. Jones thank you for this wonderful recipe! Wondering would peppermint oil be ok to also add to the spray I make if I'm only using strictly on a dog? I notice some of the natural sprays out there have peppermint oil as an ingredient {but not for cats}, I've read somewhere that the peppermint oil is a toxic one to the cats. You are a blessing, Thank You.
Once again, I've been struggling with flea stuff for some time. I hate to put chemicals on my dogs and cats and here you are days before I was to apply topical against my better judgment! I just ordered everything you mentioned in the video. Thank you Dr Jones!!!!!! 🤗❤ You just saved me HUNDREDS of dollars.
The topicals are not only hard on the dog, but don't kill all the ticks. Go with an oral or natural treatment. In our case natural was not enough, but if your dog just stays in the backyard and you cut the grass, natural may be the way.
@@MF-rw3rb I've found that when I let the back yard get to weedy (grass is not the primary plant back there) the fleas have a field day. I think it's the moisture that they want. Within a couple of days of mowing they seem to be all but gone. Maybe in hiding, but that works for me.
I adore your channel sir. You taught me how to drain and clean abcesses and now I will rid my dog and cat of the fleas they've newly acquired! THANK YOU!!!!
You're very welcome! I'm glad that the information I provide is helpful and appreciated. I strive to share valuable insights to assist pet owners like you
Hi Dr. Jones, I found that same brand witchazel with coconut water. I use it along with lavender and cedarwood essential oils except I minus out the lemon oil. Saw this on one of your previous videos. My 5 pound toy poodle Khloe has very dry skin so I was skeptical that the lemon oil might be drying to her skin. However, it worked and also makes her smell great. Khloe is 11 months old and thus far her issues have been minor and all solved by your remedies. Thanks and please keep up the good work!! I pray blessings to you and your family.
since starting my animals on a prey model diet 20 year ago, (80% raw muscle meat, 10% raw bone, and % 10% raw organs), my animals have not had one clear or tick, EVER! I have not had to put chemicals on them to repel pests. It works.
What exactly are you feeding and how much if I may ask?? I just got a rescue puppy two months ago. She will be 7 months next week. I’m truly confused on what to feed her.
Also feed my Romanian rescue dog 80-10-10 ( Dogs Butcher - UK brand). Has been great for his intestinal/ stomach issues, but he's had a flea problem we just can't shift for a few months now. Think you've been lucky with the fleas and the food isn't a factor.
@@jimtheophilou9872 I suggest you look into adding brewers yeast to your pups' diet. The B vitamins in the yeast are a flea repellant. It may take a couple months to reach maximum effectiveness.
Thank you so much for helping our pets stay healthy using natural products. I live in south Mississippi and we fight fleas all year. My dog is so allergic he looses almost all of his fur and gets yeast infections from all the scratching . I will add this spray to their monthly flea preventative. Take care !
My dog lost a lof of her hair from flea allergies with a couple of raw spots. A vet online recommended this recipe that worked wonders: 1/3 baby oil, 1/3 mouthwash (some say plain without the mint but I used the mint), 1/3 water. It really helped more than any store bought remedy. On the nutritional end I cut out kibble and gave her cooked chicken, bone meal chicken ( pressure cooked chicken bones and fat) small helpings, and used a dehydrated liver from amazon. This vet to the stars on one of the cable channels recommends organ meats like liver. She eventually beat the allergy with the food and I was able to stop the anti itch regimen. I wish you well.
I read some where last summer about using ACV Apple Cider Vinegar with water. I mix a 50/50 and spray my dogs legs and their underside and down their back and have not had anymore flea issue on them. I spray them going out or when they come in. I had a flea jumped on me and that was acting drunk and was able to smash it. Works like a charm.
My husky doesn't do good with vinegar or mint. It dries his skin out so bad! Doesn't bother my pit lab mix though. I'm hoping this works so I can just use 1 thing for both dogs. Saves time & money lol
Im glad this works for you.. I tried this and my dog still had fleas get on him when I take him potty. I have been checking him before he comes in and found 1 on his hind leg or even on him inside the house. I've set up traps and have only caught 3 fleas total, thank God. But Im trying to figure out a better solution to use To help repel.
Thank you Dr. Jones. I was rather reluctant to putting this together, because I was anxious that my cat would resist. However, by spraying it on my hands first and smoothing it into her coat, then using the flee comb she stayed compliant and seemed to like it! That made me SO HAPPY! The bonus is, the fragrance isn’t at all off putting to me. I’m not good with a lot of essential oils. The freshness of the fragrance makes me VERY HAPPY! Everybody WINS!!!! 🙏
Can you possibly do a video on diabetic ketoacidosis in dogs? It came on so fast in my dog it was the first sign she had anything wrong. A lot of other people tell me the same in various FB diabetes support groups. She passed away because no emergency hospital here would treat it. I tried on my own with sub Q fluids, insulin and a glucose monitor. But she still didn’t do well.I would like to know how this could be the first sign of diabetes. I fed her so well and feel awful she had to go through this. Perhaps it’s just age/hormones etc but shocking nonetheless. Or cushings? Your ideas on the subject would be profoundly appreciated. Thank you
You would make a great Homeopathic veterinarian. The US needs more! Please consider studying this system of medicine. ETA: The homeopathic medicine for fleas and ticks is Staphysagria 30c. One dose given twice a day. Your spray would be icing on the cake.
@@cathytilford388 I usually start giving the medicine to my pug just before flea season begins. In my area that is March. You can add it to their food, hide it in a tasty snack, or tuck it in their gums. Continue dosing until flea season is over.
@@Hevynly1 It is a nosode and not meant to be used on a daily basis; it’s a remedy that is considered when there are chronic skin disorders, and it is usually used in a 200c. Psorinium is actually uprooting the genetic predisposition; it is getting right down to the DNA. A drawback to Psorinum is that it can be difficult for laymen to find; it is generally only sold to professionals. Staphysagria can be found at any homeopathic pharmacy and health food stores ~ even Whole Foods. That said, there can be several approaches in treatment, but using Psorinum for the prevention of fleas is not something I have experience with.
..but I think diatomaceous earth because its so fine is like breathing in powdered glass. I think the DE does dry out the fleas, but not sure just how safe it is for the dog if s/he breathe it in.
I had ordered some flea and tick spray that was all-natural, and it had cedar oil in it. I sprayed it on my cat and on the bed, where both of us slept. After the first night my cat wouldn't come into the room and slept downstairs. She always slept with me. She didn't like it when I put it on her, either. I switched to another brand that didn't have the cedar in it, but had most of the other ingredients. She didn't mind that. Something about cedar is not cat friendly, I think. Walmart has the product I use now that is pretty effective. It is called Natural Care Flea and Tick Spray and is made in the U.S. It is also good for mosquitos. I'm not sure who else sells it, as that is where I buy it. This company also makes a yard spray. Just sharing information of my experience.
Thank you for that suggestion! I immediately looked it up and was able to find it. Buying this spray ASAP! I’ll also try his once I get the coconut oil.
My cats don’t like the smell of Lemongrass in Wundercide and fight me when I try to spray them. They don’t mind the smell of Cedar wood Wundercide so I switched to that and they don’t fuss as much.
Thank you Dr. Jones for very valuable information on making this flea/tick spray. We are having a time this year with the big runner fleas. I will be buying these oils and I already have witch hazel, castille soap and coconut oil. I am also using Selsen Blue Shampoo that you recommended to bath my little Shih Tzu in and it helps so very much with his dry skin and itching. Thank you for so much very valuable information. God bless you.
i haven't watched it yet , but for years i have been rubbing about a dozen drops of neem oil into both my dogs fur to keep ticks away .... it works very very well and they don't have to swallow any poison
@@anamatovic5719 Neem is often used orally as a people med. I've actually give it to my dog if he seems under the weather. I used it for scabies, unfortunately didn't work on it's own but funnily enough, my dog loved licking it off me.
@@iamhis5580 take maybe 15 - 20 drops along their back , then work it into their fur with your fingers , it is non toxic , if you feel you need more , add more but make sure to work it through their fur
In a previous video you said neem was poisonous for cats. What changed? Our cats have flea issues and I’d like to make this for them but I’m still on the fence about neem oil. Will the cedar wood oil work fine as the deterrent? Thank you!
I have a Yorkie with Allergies (The Breeder was recommended from AKC...DONT FALL FOR THAT RECOMMENDATION!!! My 18 year old Pug passed & my husband was desperate to get a baby for me. We went to visit our little one...There were at least 50 yorkies, in this small house. THERE were Fleas ON TOP of Fleas. I wasnt Really crazy about her size but when we seen the condition that those babies, we basically threw the money at him and ran. I wish we could have taken all of them. We have easily spent $10,000 on her health care. We kept pressing for Allergy testing, so we would have a base line of what we were dealing with. Our Vet kept rejecting it. Finally they agreed and she's off the chart Fleas, dust mites & food mites. A medication was made specifically for her. It has helped, but 4 years in, we still have a ways to go. We love her so much, we'd do anything to make her healthy 💕
When it comes to ticks, it's the only time I turn to the pharmaceuticals for my dog. We go hunting and bushwhacking deep in the woods, and had a whole ritual of pre and post journey natural tick treatments. I'd still find ticks on my dog alive and kicking days later, despite a thorough daily check. I honestly believe Bravecto saved my dog from catching Lyme disease.
@@sandraromanowska3309 sure can .. very healthy. .just put in water and it helps keep away ticks from the dogs and aids in digestion just like people . Been using it for years also good flea spray
You guys need to read through the comments before you get too excited... Most people are saying yay and thanks but hardly anyone is saying this actually works. I have seen some commenters actually try this and say that THEIR DOG GOT FLEAS/TICKS AFTER USING THIS method. My dogs is old and sickly so I want to avoid chemicals as much as possible so I am frustrated that there are so few positive responses to actually trying it
My dog is full of ticks! I don't know how many we pulled off of him! I will be applying this today. We live in the tropics and this is our 3rd year here and have always given our 2 dogs a pastilla (pill) every three months for this kind of thing but I started rethinking the toxicity of that. We don't have much of a yard but what we have has rodents, cats, iguanas and other night critters that could be bringing the ticks in. We will start spraying the ÿard with neem and water and dosing them with this.
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) witch hazel with aloe - 2 tbsp fractionated coconut oil - 2 ml (2 droppersful) Neem oil - 2 ml (40 drops) cedarwood oil - 1 tbsp Unscented liquid Castile soap Mix well. Put into spray bottle. Lightly mist animal and use flea comb. Use 2-3 x/wk Safe for dogs and cats.
HI, Thanks for all your amazing videos, from all your tips my 16 year old cat has not been this happy in years. Would this spray deter the paralysis ticks found in Australia. Thanks
Hi Dr! What is the best tick prevention? My husky has had 2 different types of Lyme disease at once. This fall has been terrible for ticks again, I just found 5 on him. I dont know what to use anymore. Or how to treat him after bites besides the antibiotics.
Hi there, I just noticed your new flea and tick spray. I have been using the one you posted in 2019. I was wondering if you could use 1/4 cup hazel witch and 1/4 cup aloe juice instead of the hazel witch with aloe, as I pre purchased many hazel with and aloe separately. Also just wondering how long they last in the bottle as they do go along way.
Q. Hello doctor, my cat do not have any flea but can I still use this solution on to make sure she is well protected? They like to roam around a lot outside of the house.
Hi Doc!! Im new to the channel and I was wondering if you have a recommendation of a natural repellent for mosquitoes for dogs. We seem to have hundreds of them this year.
Thank you for that. I hate pesticides so always use natural oils diluted. Only thing is my dog sometimes gets bitten and he gets flea allergy rash on his back. Is there something soothing I can give him internal or external whilst I'm ridding the fleas. ?
I have put organic coconut oil on my son’s pit Latté hotspot on his top above his tail that he would get from chewing at fleas and the coconut oil healed it up fast. Its antibacterial antifungal properties are amazing fronour pets and for us too!! Coconut oil has antimicrobial and antifungal properties due to its MCT content - specifically, lauric acid.
@@msnini2982 For dog flea spray I purchased NOW brand for cedarwood. You just don't want the dog to ingest it. I did realize that if the dog likes to eat coconut oil, then you need to use a different oil in the spray or they'll lick it.
I get mine off Amazon. 2 years ago I found a bunch of different oils on clearance! Make sure it's 100% natural though! I always check the company also. Happy shopping
Hello! Do you have any videos on how to treat dogs diagnosed with heart murmur? I’ve just learned that carrageenan and grain-free diets which contain legume based carbohydrates are bad for a dog’s heart. I’ve always purchased affordable commercial dog food but now I’m trying to switch to healthier, natural food for dogs. On a Sunday a few months back she had about 10 seizure in less than an hour, the emergency vet, after giving her medication to control the seizures and making me think she’s ok because she just needs seizure treatment, offered to euthanize my fur baby because I couldn’t afford to pay all at once the treatments/exams/labs and my fur baby wouldn’t survive the night. I felt lied to; since the seizures had stopped I took my furbaby home and didn’t sleep at all. The next day I took her to a vet close to my home and with the stethoscope she discovered she has a heart murmur. I cannot believe the emergency vet didn’t perform a stethoscope exam. Something so basic. I felt robbed and she would have robbed me of my furbaby too because it’s been months and she’s doing well thanks to the seizure and heart medicine she’s taking. So if you have any other remedies for heart health please share them with us.
If it helps, that particular Dr Bronners castile soap label being blue is a peppermint fragrance. It also comes in green eucalyptus and amber almond labels. All are wonderful soaps for your own body also.
@@susanjerrell9220 I believe the dark blue label is peppermint, while the lighter blue label used in the video says "Baby Mild" on the label and is unscented. That is the one I use for our dogs and cats.
Wish he would respond to this comment in order for us to create our sprays cuz now I have ingredients for both and not sure we can mix the Castile soap, witch hazel, aloe Vera juice, and coconut oil all together along with the essential oils mentioned
I use that liquid castle soap as shampoo, then towel dry and I spray acv/H2O mix and leave it on. But you could probably add some of the essential oil to the castle soap to kill fleas, ( be sure to shake well). Be sure to rinse well too.
Dr.Jones and chat 💬 please help in in Canada 🇨🇦 and just got a frenchton pup what is the best food you would suggest ( I will be making up my own to mix when she’s a lil bit older ) please recommend a item that is good for this breed and eliminates or reduces gas ( if you know you know what I mean ) and the most over all to give my puppy a healthy start !!
I thought of a couple more topics for potential future videos. What about intestinal blockages in cats? How to stop cats from eating non food items? Identifying and preventing pyometria in female dogs.
@@VeterinarySecrets well I should have been more specific. I have a vial flea...etc that someone gave me for Lilly. I will look at the ingredients. Thank you for responding to my text. But I will try your treatment. 👍👌👌👌
