I'm loving this playthrough but Matt needs to pay attention to anything in the menus. He just kind of goes in, unequips defensive accessories, and then says "can't find [the item] you're looking for in ACCESSORIES" and doesn't even undo his unequips

Matt please equip skills to your team and manage your items better. Don't give away healing items unless a boss fight is about to happen. Actually read your equipment. You gave goofy an item to raise his ap points and never bothered to equip skills with it.

He just super-lowkey hates videogames by now, and intentionally refuses to try. His idea of "entertainment" is bumbling-about and instantly giving up/not trying. Matt's good at sidecouching, but he shouldn't be forced to play videogames if he's not into it nor wants to try. They should rethink a bit and have Pat/Woolie playing and Matt doing couch-commentary mostly.
Check items, quit out of item menu, go to equipment, check equipment, don't equip better equipment, unequip one protect chain, go to the character's use items, check items from there, conclude you don't have the thing. Only Matt.

Would honestly be happy if they took some days off after the initial recording session to read tips fans are sending in and if the game allows it try to fix as much as they can so they have less to worry about when commentating.
In some ways I'm enjoying the LP. But sometimes Matt does something so infuriating, gameplay wise, like unequipping for no reason or pointing out Jackpot and doing nothing with it.
I want a Clayton-esque new Sparda lovechild with Sparda's side-chick to appear now to make this Clayton DMC voice real. And he can fight with a rapier and have a system based around parries and buffed versions of his moves as ripostes.
Man, I've never even seen this game before, and even I'm cringing at the amount of stuffs the guys are missing or fail to understand. And these guys plays video games for a living, in more than one ways.
Slapshot isn't actually a rapid succession of strikes. When you're really close to an enemy, Sora can use a very fast attack that has a chance to crit.
Also, magic scales kind of poorly into the lategame because of how it's calculated. The level of your spell matters much more than your personal magic power. Also, the awakening choices you made at the start of the game don't affect the style of your gameplay. Sora will always be a sort of swordsman who learns some magic spells. Your choices only affect a small change in stats and the order of skills you learn. Since you picked sword, you'll learn more strength based combo modifiers and finishers at lower levels and it will take you significantly longer to learn defensive abilities or magical based abilities and combo finishers. (I haven't checked the lists recently but I think it also affects when you learn special attacks like strike raid and ragnarock)
Deep Jungle is the world I almost always get lost on where I need to go. Most often it is because after the first scene of Tarzan speaking to the gorillas, it immediately teaches you about the vine swinging mechanics, but the vine you need to climb to progress is right next to you and easy to miss, including that it is out of view any time you enter the area later.

You know how modern historians are baffled about how ancient people built stuff like the pyramids without the help of machines? This LP invokes feelings like that, but replace ancient people with these fucks, building the pyramids with playing baby games and historians with people who beat the game as children.
I think they are giving DSP a run for his money. If I didn't know better I'd think someone is forcing them to play the game. Why didn't Pat join? He's way better at RPGs than Matt and Woolie put together.
Matt is on a truly transcendent level of oblivious, especially when it comes to RPG's. Frustrating as it is to watch him be this terrible, it'd be easier on everyone to just accept the idea that he's gonna be more distracted BS-ing with Woolie (and subsequently distracting Woolie in turn) than paying attention to much of anything going on in the game.

Things for Matt and Woolie to know: The ability you're wondering about Matt is that quick uppercut you do at the start of your combo now. That is a quick attack that replaced your downward swing for you first attack in your combo. Your allies have abilities too. SET THEM. The red hat enemies are a special enemy type that will give you shit if you use specific magic on them in response to their actions. I have little doubt you will never have the patience to figure them out.
Matt, "Slapshot" isn't a Million-stabs or whatever you think it is. It is "A" rapid strike, as in singular, and is pretty much what the name implies. It occurs automatically at the start of your combo when you attack an enemy that you are VERY close to (basically touching them) and is just a quick, upward swipe.
Sorry guys, gotta wait for KH2 for a Lion King world and why you'd want to play levels with songs is beyond me (within the KH series) because you'll see that in KH2 also and no one likes it. No one.

If Pat has the ability to reshape reality to always be wrong, then Woolie has the ability to compulsively lie at the most opportune moment, and Matt has the ability to ignore anything he sees.

I can understand the way Matt is playing (missing some menu options, double healing, ect), as when I played this game as a late aged teenager, I too had similar problems, at first. I also had the the guide and wasn't recording or trying to entertain, so I could only imagine how much that slows down the learning process. They just need to spend a little more time with the game and maybe slow down a bit how much they are trying to get done each episode and things with be fine.
I’d be down for quoting Devils May Cry lines in various accents. Could you imagine Mickey as Dante and Donald as Vergil? Plus, I don’t know, Goofy singing Shall Never Surrender?
