I don't usually comment on youtube videos but this one is worth the effort. I work at a local country club course and have access to free golf and driving range. My game has been so bad lately that I was actually embarrassed to go out with my buddies. I'm the guy that you hate to play behind. Never was a great golfer but played to about a 12 handicap a few years back and took the game back up about 4 years ago. Now 75, but I still want to hit my driver about 300 yards (sigh). After three 10 minute sessions practicing this lesson in my living room last night.......slowly on part two, I had a great day on the range this afternoon. The power is hard to manage because I love hitting my 9 iron farther than I usually hit my 7 iron. Still work to do but the excitement of actually being able to play again is very welcome. I don't see how this could not help other senior golfers. Best instructional video so far for me personally. Thank you

♥♦♣♠Thanks Steve. I have searched and searched for someone to explain a swing I accidentally move into from time to time by accident. When I find that swing, I play until after dark, take time off work to play more and I'd still forget. You have shown me how to never forget and why and how it actually works in a simple, commons sense way. Thank you. I feel you are the Best Instructor I have come across in person or the video. I am truly grateful. Thank you

Thanks Steve! I see modern swings that look like Laura Davies where the finish is like a jump up on the front forefoot (watch Justin Thomas jump out of his sicks on a big tee shot) vs the solidly anchored outer heel pivot and finish like Tiger and Jack. The latter way is what you and teach I agree 100%. By getting your weight fully over to the left heel and keeping the arms soft in the transition, you get easy power via body weight and leverage from what David Lee defined as the counterfall. Also more accuracy from the more consistent hitting postions vs hitting from the more variable up/down movement. I think Davies could have been even longer and straighter had she slid into the left heel and used the free leverage from her height.

Thank you for that tip and those instructions I believe when I swing on that path I do get a square face and head straight shots the thing for me is believing in the swing. sometimes it feels funny so I don’t always execute the way I should.

Hi Steve I just use my trail humerus bone as a pendulum swing for my entire swing. I could write a book why this works; but it would all be fillers. So I choose to teach the golf swing explained in one sentence. Cheers

Steve, you make it simple. Nobody else comes close to explaining it like you do. My question to you is about how you say the toe doesn’t flip over. I’ve been doing the throwing drill with the Speed Whoosh. It seems to me that when you do that drill correctly and incorporate it into your swing that the toe has to flip over at impact. It seems to me that if you hold off on the toe flipping over your holding off on the releasing of the club. Please enlighten me, thanks for all the great video’s & teachings

Flap the right wrist with the pinky slightly leading, like a sidearm screwball.

When I throw about somewhere in the last portion, say club below hips, I really try to release the club letting the club do all the work. Just try relaxing the wrists at that point

Thanks, especially for the note on screen at ~ min 5:181- about not flipping the toe over! That inside initial move for me promotes a pull/ hook otherwise.

Great content as always. Your information has helped me improve by 6-strokes off of my handicap so far, the most helpful to me being the necessity to hold one's posture throughout the shot. I would really like for you to look at my swing sometime. Looking forward to your next video.

Spooky! I was at the range yesterday trying to get my right shoulder down towards the ball. While I was able to do that a few times, it was difficult to feel. This video may be the solution, and I can't wait to get out there to try it. It's a shame you are not in the UK, as I would love to visit you for some lessons.

I'm 73 with almost zero balance, but I'm going to have to try this. It looks like it could help some of my bad habits since I've developed a shorter swing with the fear of falling off balance. Thanks for all of the videos.

Absolutely the most concise and helpful summary of your teachings. Thanks to you I’ve cut my handicap index in half from 12 to 6 using your program. I am confused about 1 thing though, here you advocate NOT turning over the toe through release, but in your prior video “crazy move that keeps winning on pga tour” Brian Manzella demonstrates the ‘Tumble’ and shows the toe closes down significantly through release. Can you clarify the difference?

Can I start my backswing as a step 1 in golf swing? It is difficult to shallow the swing in real golf game from steep backswing to shallow in downswing.

Thanks Steve for all your video's. I am 72 yrs (yrs and fat catching up) with an 8 index was 2.5 when young. Coming from cricket I had a shoulder and arm swing with body following; not good for the back so I gave up golf for a number of years. I have watched nearly all video's relating to Early Extension using your chair drill. I practice this drill in my back yard using a net and the 1/3rd distance practice balls (safety). I am now carrying my 5 iron on course 180 yds. Can I use this method with my driver? I trying to emulate your drill but try to keep head back at impact, with a driver is this ok. I use your Senior driver set up with limited success, I tend to push ball way out to right field: I know lack of wrists from the top.

Drill seems to work ok if you start at your first position. How do you get to that position when taking a regular backswing? Seems you have to really crank it way inside when starting from a normal address.
@Inmotion70

It's more to simulate the downswing being more shallow.

I teach older guys to play better, I'm NOT a pro by any means just a really good old golfer, and I LOVE to help bad golfers, OK with that said I'm going to try this drill, but I always tell the guys, If that's not the swing your going to use, why practice it. you drill isn't even close to the swing you used to hit the ball. but like I said I'll try it................ if your right arm was higher on the drill I won't be typing this, I love most of your tips.
