Hi there, I have a question, I'm forming my LLC on incfile to get started in government contracts, but I don't know what industry to choose. I want to perform the middleman strategy and bid on all different types of contracts in every industry. What's your recommendation? Thank you for your help. 🙏🏼
My recommendation is to start by finding your target customers and focusing on an area where you have experience. Watch this video for more: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UvccvosHChM.html
Your content is by far one of the best. I saw 3 videos so far and you are actually teaching. Not a lot of fluff, also not a bunch of videos of interviews, but not telling me how to win a contract. I have subscribed.
There is a huge fear of success in my mind. I'm working little by little with information you put out. Very thankful for ur work. I'm a veteran and I know the potential for the government set asides program. Security Services sounds very appealing.
Very helpful info. My biggest hurdle is my own over-thinking. I doubt my ability to be able to find contracts or have employees to fulfill contracts I bid on. No worries. I am working to overcome my fears and step in faith. Thank you for your video!
Great video! I have dreamed of starting a business my entire life. Now that i have learned about government contracting I'm much more hopeful that my dream can become a reality. Living in a very small rural town my ideas would never work, due to where I live. I love that how you explain in depth everything that many don't know when they are first learning of this opportunity, like myself. I look forward to learning more of how to get started from your videos.
I appreciate how you get right to it without trying to sell something. I worry about my wellness/ fitness. I could surely start a biz but i need a fit that takes into account that im up and down. I have medical issues and need alot of rest and also, my nice can wear off. Teamwork is also not one of my strongpoints. Im a loaner and work best on the move, in the field with a partner. I want to succeed but dont want any false starts if possible. I subscribed and also appreciate that you are a mature woman as you may be🙂
Awesome video! Thank you for posting such informative content. My struggles revolve around how to structure the Capability Statement for a new startup with no past Performance
Great video: so easy to follow! I loved learning that I could be a gov’t subcontractor and use the previous contractor’s crew 🤭. My obstacles for getting government contracts are that I dread red tape, most of my time currently is spent learning how to build my start up business and getting training at the same time, and I have no start up money right now. Other than that, I’m confident within the year I’ll get over these issues and get a government contract of some sort, probably in Professional Services. Thanks for sharing! Sincerely, a RU-vid University student. 🙋🏽♀️💲
Sounds like you're off to a great start. Be aware that government contracting involves excessive amounts of paperwork. So you should think about who is going to do all that paperwork. Owners either do it themselves, or bring in a trusted partner or employee. Good luck! Report back and let me know how it's going!
What is holding me back is all the above. I would love to see step by step in depth how to start..from opening an LLC, where to pick, how much I need, etc there is a lot I don't know where to start. Once I get your help. I have a direction I can get the idea and help from you
I love all of your videos... you explain things with so much detail and clarity relating to the mindset of most people desiring to enter this exciting concept of doing business with the government. Thank you for your greatness!!!!
This information was very helpful. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your video to gain additional information on moving my home base Notary Business forward.
Thanks for this very helpful and informative video!! I'm just starting and the most challenging things I've run into are: 1. Targeting specific "Codes/Services" that can help me get my foot in the door, 2. Reading all the lingo & understanding the terminology in the Solicitation and 3. Once I've identified a contract I want to pursue, knowing exactly what next steps to take. It's been a learning curve for sure. But I continue to study and learn more. Hopefully, I can land my first contract soon. 👍🏾 Thanks
This is informative. I think what's holding me back is feeling like I lack the skill necessary to get a government contract and manage it successfully to scale.
Hello I have a few questions regarding the administrative services/Human Resources contracts (if that’s the correct name of it.) Let’s say that in a contract there is 50 engineers needed. 1- how to we determine their wage 2- how do we get insurance for them 3- how can we calculate the expenses and costs of the engineers so we can determine what to bid on the contract. And is there any other expenses that I missed? 4- does it work the same with subcontracting for prime contractors? 5- where do I find more information on these specific contracts? Any books or articles recommendation?
Fantastic video! My expertise is in the transportation field. I have been in the trucking and logistics industry since 1986. But since I have a detached retina fron six years ago I can’t drive a truck anymore. My issue is capital to fund my startup to get my freight broker business up and running. There are various credintuals needed as well as insurances that have to be purchased before starting. Thanks in advance for your time and your reply.
This was super helpful! Professional /Admin services here! 🙋🏽♀️ I am stuck at understanding the bidding process and what a bid package looks like. I have my DUNS/EIN number but now what to get started bidding and getting contracts? Suggestion on next steps would be super helpful! Thaaaaank you!!! 😊
Great Videos I've been recently turned onto your site and I am starting a VOSB. Would it be in your wheelhouse to make a short video of a business plan targeted for gov contracting posing some universal question like who is buying, competition ect... Thing a young entrepreneur should be aware of. Thanks again keep making videos your helping out alot of people
Hello Ms. FedAccess, Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. To answer one of the three questions. I would like to know how can I find the micro-purchasing contracts?
Wow very very helpful. THank you. I used to work compliance for the VA and my mentor was the compliance officer. I just graduated USC with a masters in business and self cert as a disabled vet sb. If i do land a contract, Im hiring my old mentor.
This was so helpful and informative with actual direction. Thank you.. liked n subscribed! Mentor ship and connections are holding me back unfortunately. Not having the resources upfront. #scary
Logistics is what I have a passion for...really want to get in a position where I can transport goods for the government. That way it will open jobs for the economy. Also giving people the opportunity to work for themselves through subcontracting jobs out to small business who are on a journey to entrepreneurship. Of course getting the funds I need to get equipment is the hold up. I am self funding my business from working a fulltime job.
I am just starting so the biggest hurdle at this time is lack of information and knowing where to start but this video is helping. I just need to find a mentor to assist me so if you offer those services kindly let me know
I see that you're very responsive to the comments on your content. So I'm letting you know I found this video so you can save time. I want to start a consulting business acting as a staffing agency for Government companies.
Thanks for all your helpful information! You mention some things like painting, janitorial etc. If I want to find people to do the work and play an operations/management role, how would I express that in words, in my proposal, so I conform with any requirements for 51% of the work must be done by my company and then I can subcontract? Is it easy to find service type contracts that don’t have subcontractor limitations? I can see doing the project management and other managerial aspects of a contract, but difficult to scale if you’re personally doing the work (although any contract is really between the gov’t and your company not you personally). Also, if I did hire an employee so they’re part of my company to meet a contract’s requirements is there a best way to go about this? Ultimately, I’d like to handle project management and administrative functions without grabbing a paint brush and trading time for money.
Great video and thank you so much! I enjoy searching commercial office/retail space for lease government but I am not a realtor. What services would my search capabilities fall under?
Money is always the key factor in getting funding! I’ve tried several different ways to get funding and get turned down every time! Since covid 19 I can’t buy a Business Loan.
Have you seen this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dtN_mzrpvf4.html. It explains how to read an RFP. Today I'm working on a video on how to actually prepare and submit a proposal. I hope you find it helpful.
Thanks for the video. What's holding me back? Inexperience as I do not know how to start recruiting/ getting a bid. Do I recruit people first or go ahead and try to get a bid?
This was a great video! I'm an IT exec looking into starting a government contracting business. Do you recommend starting a business with a partner or as a sole proprietorship? I've heard there's more competition than ever when it comes to getting contracts. About how long does it take to get your first contract with the government and what is the average size of an IT contract?
There's a lot to running a government contracting business. Many people start with a partner, and each partner focuses on a different aspect of the business. As for how long it takes, if you already have a business and experience, then I would plan on it taking at least a year to land your first government contract.
My business plan is my hurdle right now. I have to get that drawn up well enough to outline my cost structure, comparative advantages and how I profit , and etc. I have a background in Telecommunications (IT) and would like to do this type of work with Gov. contracting. This video was helpful and the NAICS codes you provided were great. Can you share any more with me ?
This is the first time that I have watched a video of yours and I must say that it was wonderful. I am a veteran trying to start my own business and of course the reason why I have not started is money. I dabble in real estate investing but would also like to try what you are talking about in this video. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Great! Watch my videos to learn the steps involved. You can also get free one-on-one help if you contact your local SBDC. And you can post questions on my individual videos if you have more questions.
Can you make a video about real estate? I’m a realtor and I would love to assist the government with leasing out office space. I don’t have any listings myself but can I do what I do for my other buyer clients? Locate office space for the government? Please help me.
Watch my other videos. Get registered in SAM, meet buyers, search for contract opportunities. Let me know if you have questions as you go through the process.
I found your channel and it's been nothing short of amazing in terms of the value you bring and quality of presentation of the materials. Thank you! I currently work in marketing/advertising but wouldn't want to limit contract work to just this as it seems like a relatively small area in the contracting world. Specifically within the firm, I deal in team creation, management, and acquisitions. I feel like these traits would carry over to creating teams in other fields, especially related to business. Do you have any initial standout thoughts when it comes to advertising and contract work? Thank you again for the great content!!
I think you're smart to think about your skill set and what areas those skills would transfer to. How about communications? I knew many people who supported the government in communications.
Very helpful I'm experienced in life coaching and speaking. I've been considering doing a pressure washing business and look for contracts for the company would that be profitable in the government. Contract industry?
That's what I like to hear! Someone who knows what industry they want to be in and has experience in that industry! As you go through the process, post any questions you have on my channel!
I have a number of videos that can help. Check out my video on how to find your customers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_tbgSFpIzas.html
Another challenge is if you are a brand new company and don’t have any D&B credit report the procurement officers will pass on your bid. That’s what I been told at D&B
I hope you didn't let that comment from the D&B rep hols you back from doing more research and getting started. We tend to look for a way to "not start". I jumped in with both feet and started in March 2023. I've been awarded 4 contracts. I'm typing this message in July 2023.
Awesome video! Quick question, I actually have a recruiting firm with private clients and just got my business registered as a government contractor on SAM. Until now I've only placed candidates for private companies through direct hire. It looks like this would be more of a staffing situation where the government pays my company and my company pays the employees. My question is, since my startup capital is still low, would this be a situation where I would have to pay employee's salaries and benefits before I get paid by the government? Or would there be a way to take care of paying employees and benefits as I get paid by the government and not before?
This information is very helpful, I want to start up, I over think everything, like how am I going to get the money to do my first purchase, I have the time but not the knowledge. I would like to have a mentor.
This all sounds great but WHO pays the employees while the contract is underway? I assume there's little cost to get started but if you don't have 100's of thousands of dollars to pay them while under contract, what happens next?
Hello. Thank you for your great insight regarding Govcon. I have been in the Property & Casualty insurance space for a few years, I don't really have experience in any other field. Is there a way to break in the Govcon dealing with Insurance?
I have worked with a prime contractor since 2016 the owner sold the company and the new owner got rid of us we were working on military tank arms. I guess I am stock at being sick to my stomach first of all and really identifying these opportunities for my company
Check out my video on What to Do First. So many people are struggling with where to start, so i made this video. Watch my how-to videos to learn the nuts and bolts of identifying opportunities for your company. Good luck!
What is holding me back is that I don't want to embarrass myself. I want to make sure that I can accept government payments from purchase cards. I am only interested in focusing on micro purchases. I bought the course but there is only a one-minute video on the topic.
micro-purchases are not posted in SAM, so to find them, you need to talk to people! Many sections of the course will help you with this. First, lecture 2 on finding your target customer. The whole Section 2 of the course is on who to know, how to meet them, and what to say to them. Also, later in the course, lectures 55 and 56 explain how to craft your elevator pitch and how to find networking events to meet customers. There's lots in the course to help you!
@@FedAccess No, I'm not talking about "FINDING" the opportunities. I'm talking about how to ACCEPT P-card payments. There is only a one minute video on this and that's the only reason that I bought the course, to get this information.
