About All In The Family:
One of the most acclaimed comedy series of all time, All in the Family with Archie Bunker as the irascible, highly opinionated, working-class family man who viewed the world on his terms and his terms only. When not arguing with his liberal son-in-law, "Meathead," Archie took refuge in his long-suffering wife, Edith, who tries her best to understand Archie's conservative ways and outdated beliefs.

Yep. Shows a good, honest, real man full of faults, and insecurities realistically learning how to love his fellow man as himself. He’s not a “bleeding heart” he’s problematic and prejudiced as ALL HELL but he LEARNS to treat people by content of character. Not through one experience of “I was wrong”. And sometimes he was entirely RIGHT with his pre judgement! But he learned that folks like the Jeffersons deserve the same consideration as him regardless of skin tone. BUT that sometimes people use the fact that coloreds were/are mistreated as a free pass for anything. Even with all that you have a GOOD MAN doing what GOOD MEN do! Work hard, love your family, support your country through good times and bad, be a pal to those willing to be a pal, and having an open mind and open heart but not so open it falls out! Truly a great character study as real today as it was then! More Archie Bunkers! Less people who see him just as his “racist” (more so ignorance that couldn’t be helped) self…

I'm 72. The entire cast was pure gold. I still watch the episodes every Sunday on METV. I'm pretty sure they can be found on Utube too. Also, "In the Heat of the Night" another good series with Carroll O'Connor. Although nothing compares to The Bunkers. The Jeffersons hold a solid 2nd place!

@sherryherrick6567 I agree! All In The Family and The Jeffersons were 2 of the best shows on television. Archie Bunker and George Jefferson didn't hold back with the racial slurs and comments, but we could all laugh at them back them; and laugh at ourselves. I'm surprised Liberals allow these shows to continue to air.

I haven't watched this show since I was a little kid so I never really understood the humor until now because I'm rewatching it. One thing I absolutely love about this show is the brilliant stupidity of Archie - how he mispronounced at least one word in every episode and especially that the beliefs that he held were SO arrogantly wrong, lol. Like how white people had to be careful giving CPR to black people so they didn't breathe in the "wrong" kind of air. And as a woman who has been in a relationship with a narcissist who was verbally abusive, every time I see Edith stand up to him, which isn't often, I get such satisfaction. In today's society, this would have been deemed as a very manipulative and verbally abusive marriage, the way Archie orders her around, makes her obey him, and doesn't let her have her own opinions - and constantly calls her names like "stupid" and "dingbat". It's so mindblowing watching this and knowing how drastically different our world is today. But I have to admit, I'm glad I'm watching it all the way thru now, at 46 years old. 😊
