Absolutely, I call it a teep kick because I learned it as a kickboxing student! Very effective at keeping people at bay for defense. But also brought up suddenly under the guard it quickly deter any further aggression when the opponent realizes that your not such a soft target! Sometimes the minimum amount of resistance makes a bully rethink the benefits versus cost equation
Groin kick definitely is a favourite kick for women. Somehow guys are not big fans of getting kicked in the groin ;) Which makes it good for self defense. Still sometimes we have to reconsider and possibly choose another kick. What would be your second best?
Yeah, the stomp kick works good. When I was 52, about 5 years ago, I had a 35 year old guy who befriended me, but one night started talking about how he could make me do this and that against my will. I told him he better leave and as I was escorting him out he turned to advance at me like he was gonna try something. I stomp kicked him and knocked him off his feet. He was sitting on the floor in a daze. It was the last thing he expected. When he finally got his bearings he walked out and I never saw him again. Lolll. I learned that kick just from doing Tae Bo for exersize. I've realized theres a lot more I can do with Krav Maga! I've been trying to practice with my adult kids, but they won't let me practice on them. Lol. Guess I have to join a group somewhere
Exactly John, Same thing different name. Sounds like someone loves Muay Thai ;) I love it too, very useful in Krav Maga. How long have you been training?

@@fit2fightbackkravmaga119 on and off probably 20 years out of the last 30. Shotokan and Muay Thai to instructor. I've also done some mma and krav with Spartans.
@@yorkshireR9T impressive. Would you agree that every good Kraver should be VERY decent at Muay Thai and MMA and have a good idea about BJJ. All of them are part of Krav Maga with some tactical/technical differences, taking into account lack of rules and weight categories on the street.
@@fit2fightbackkravmaga119 yes I would. Bjj I would emphasize being able to get off the floor . Grappling in a street situation is not a good idea, as I am sure you know. I look forward to more of your videos. Respect from the UK
I agree with you. A stomp kick is definately the right kick to do to keep away an attacker. It‘s also safer! However, there are benefits of the groin kick. No matter how big or strong a man is, his balls will always be sensitive. So it‘s a nice approach especially for women. And as a guy I can day: it hurts 😂
Well said. Definitely a groin kick is an awesome solution in most situations. You can condition most parts of the body to take a strong hit but groin is not the part of the body many guys would like to even think of conditioning :D Do you train Krav Maga or any other system?
As a former Judo fighter, the stomp kick is the best way of creating distance for most people. Aaand it doesn't do that much damage depending on how hard you kick. I have worked in a locked-ward psychiatry and it has saved me in couple of dangerous moments.
Very well said. This kick also worked very well for me in a club agains a few drunk guys. After one of these guys flew a few meters back, the others didn’t want to get in the range of my kicks. You are also right that you can control damage with this kick quite well.
Yo I can see the power in that kick, but what if the person attacking you is 7.2 and weighs 180kg well it be enough to stop him ? I have tried in tkd for five years, and Thai for a year ! What happens if I just step out of his path and sweep the leg ?
Most of these kicks suggested by others are great in the dojo when sparring or competition; but out in the street? too much margin of error. Also if the assailant has a blade it's easy to cut your calf or thigh and then you are finished. No blade? the push kick followed by thigh strike as assailant's comes at you again; which they will. Nice vid anyway
hmmm... and how do you know that? Did you do a lot of research online I guess? Because what I know comes from 'hands on training' and experience in real life. Including very effectively stopping a charging attacker with a stomp kick. A good stomp kick to the solar plexus area stops you in your tracks and makes you want to vomit. I recommend trying with someone well trained but if you prefer an online research approach I recommend watching a good Muay Thai fight. They call it Teep Kick. If you are talking about a person not charging but RUNNING at full speed at you then you would be right, stomping kick wouldn't work and there is a different answer to it. Do you mean a full speed running?
@@fit2fightbackkravmaga119 Nice assumption on how I supposedly got this knowledge. And don't use a Muay Thai fight as a model for self defense situations. They're not the same thing & no, I don't refer to running. I don't care where you hit a charging attacker with a kick, you won't stop him.
