I will say that if they use the Total Warhammer models for a lot of their tabletop models like black dragon, Croxigors etc I think a lot of the models would be bumped up to like A+
@@meadbringer while new sculpts look good aos is falling in the "everyone is a protagonist" pit I much prefer old chaos warriors sculpt and current beastman to think like the new Chaos warriors, they felt more an army, but I know this isnt what aos is all about
I would love to see more tiers like this covering Cavalry, battlelines, flyers and to see where my bullgors with their every day is leg day ham legs place...
I adore crotch man on Harvester, and it may be the goofy Gloomspite player in me but I just think it's funny and kinda in character for Nagash to have such blatant disrespect for the dead to turn your remains into into said crotch goblin, disrespects his enemies by the indignity of being killed by something with a crotch goblin, and ya it also picks up bones and stuff I suppose.
Super weird details like that are what can endear viewers to models most find too strange. I much prefer them always trying for stuff like that instead of become boring with safe choices.
@@HeyWoah there's a sort of 80's era cartoon toyetic goofiness to the obr. It's there to a degree in most of the line, what with the grinning face plates, but it's most present in the soulmason's walking chair & harvester's crotch goblin & rows of little arms passing bones that the goblin grabs up to the basket of bones, or trying to grab bones back from the crows stealing them. The boney hand refusing a sigmarite helmet that another is trying to pass up is a great touch too. All in all a fun & funny model that I absolutely adore, but I can understand where more serious-minded gamers hate it.
@@HeyWoah There was a long period when GW seemed to be actively trying to strip out all the goofiness & humor from thei games, like they were trying to spare the overly fragile sensibilities of adolescent war gamers afraid to admit to themselves that they're just playing with toys. Thankfully GW's been a bit more willing to embrace their goofier roots lately. Though admittedly the helmets on the cowhammer elves are a bit much even for me. :p
My only hard disagree is that I think Trogboss should be S tier, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I think they nailed the aesthetics so perfectly that it makes me smile whenever I see it.
The Troll creatures aesthetic is genuinely lovely. Like I saw them and immediately was filled with joy. Incredible. If I could build a army of them like Sons of Behemat I’d drop everything to do so
Personally, I would've designed Teclis to be standing on the ruin, with the sphinx as a spirit surging over his shoulder, modeled similar to what they did with Nighthaunt or the Eidolon cloaks. He's so obscure in his own model that I've accidentally called the model Celennar more than once. Archaon should've been posed more like Gordrakk; have the mount on all-fours, with him being more of the focus. Harvester will always be S tier to me; the codpiece skeleton works because it's there to collect bones so the hands are free to be maceheads.
Disagree on terrorgheist rating. The layered ribs & tattered flesh, gaping maw, huge wings? it all stands up as still solidly good. I would put it next to the turtle and call it better. Pain to paint, tho,
I think VLOZD and GKORTG both could've comfortably sat in Good Tier if I spent more time debilitating at the end, since that's where terrorgeist started initially.
Maw crusher is B tier for the same reason you put the troggoth, it has a unique style that it nails perfectly. It's supposed to look like a big dumb fist kind like an alligator turtle with armored wings.
“How much you love something can be independent of its quality.” That basically summed up how I feel about the Aleguzzler Gargant. Yeah it looks stupid as all get out, but I still have a soft spot for it.
The Teclis model is very meta in the sense that in the lore, the elves prefer to talk and consult with the Sphinx more than wanna deal with their actual god/Re-creators

Honestly, GKORTG is what got me into AOS. I love the whole look of FEC, the animalistic look and splattering of blood, looking a complete perversion of whatever it may have been before.
While I'm not the biggest fan of victorian meets fantasy aesthetics, if there was a whole army of steam tanks, mecha-horses, clockwork cannon carries, spiderwalker mini-cathedrals, and stuff I'd be down.
@@HeyWoah it’s a full steampunk style 40k army. They just released mechanical cavalry called sulphurhounds. Also the Dragoon and rustalkers. As far as tanks go you’re looking for Kataphron Breachers, Dunecrawlers and Kastellan robots play those roles. Also the Skorpius. Go check out the Adeptus mechanicus range on GW. That’s exactly what you’re describing and they’re really good right now as a plus if you wanted to get into 40k
I was really down on Teclis at first, but since we got the 3D-View he's just excellent in my opinion. His pose is so much less awkward than what it first looked like imo.
With those I would have no frame of reference (or very little) about what the thing was 'supposed' to be, so there would be a lot lost in translation. However the memes would be spicy because of that fact.
Love this video. Had me rolling several times. Thigh Queen should be S tier. I was coming over from Warmachine and she was the first model I saw that made me say "Holy shit", and she quite clearly did not sleep on leg day. Also Gitz taking the crown. Respect.
Can we get this for Battleline, especially chaff? Ex. Bloodletters vs Saurus warriors vs Stormvermin vs Gluttons... Its just that while centerpieces are cool and all, you also spend way more time handling the chaff with many armies. I love my Seraphon dinos, but the Saurus Warriors make me feel a bit sad.
It could make for a good tier list, but ratings would be difficult since you'd have to prioritize different aspects of different units. Like, a horde unit needs to be simple w minimal details, while a small elite unit wants to have tons of detail. The characteristics that make one unit great can make another unworkable. Price is also a much bigger factor with battleline units. With a centerpiece model, you'll likely only be getting one, so even if it's lousy overpriced you'll generally be able to absorb it, but for battleline, especially in a hoard army? Like, I think chainrasps look great, but the price point is so terrible on a core battleline horde that not only does it completely kill the models for me, it kills the /entire faction/.
I agree on the aleguzzler gargants. I got excited for Sons of Behemat and pulled out the two-pack of aleguzzlers I have and suddenly realized why I shelved them to begin with. The new giants looks sweet though. I don't think I could stomache hobbying the old gargants. All the old big models skipped leg day.

Bloodthirster suffered bad from being the first plastic greater daemon. It's like they weren't sure how to scale it, then later on they got bigger because, I mean, they're called greater daemons for a reason. It's especially egregious when you look at the art of Shalaxi Helbane fighting a bloodthirster, and she's straddling his chest while being much shorter, then in the actual models shalaxi is almost twice his height!
Dude the old world Archaon models (the mounted one, and the Games Day one on foot) are 100% better than the current giant derpy looking mount IMO. Put him back on Dorghar the demonic horse, but make it a fluid moving flying trailing fire type deal or something.
I think the saurus on carnosaur is a bit better than you gave it credit for, kinda simple but clean and elegant imo, whereas the mangler squig placement pleases me greatly
If, and this is a BIG if, I ever build Katakros, I want to put him on Kurdoss's throne in the Conan pose because it seems more "in character" than standing majestically
the metal baloons in my mind knowing not enough lore is a prison for air elementals that keeps them afloat or something air magic is clearly stronger lift then gravity
There's a perfectly legit explanation in the lore, aethergold clouds and steam captured from the breath of their god can keep even their aircraft carrier cities afloat.
Cock man is the Harvester, and the fact they have a stormcast head and Gitz head in the dump trunk is cool detail but definitely could have been better
That jab against the Maggoth Riders really hurt, but yeah.... Bilespurter looks weird due to the way they modelled the vomit. There's artwork of all three riders where the bile is just pouring out of its mouth, that would've looked way better in my opinion (and would also sell the thing about it constantly dripping stomach fluids way better than the current model).
No Hellpit Abomination? To me, it's one of the most impressive sculpts they ever made ... it would be a reason to pull me into skaven, it's just a shame that all battleline options suck balls
Now this guy I forgot about in my image collection stage, he belonged. It's satisfyingly horrifying, I like the tech meets franken, and the rat-king reference is not lost to me.
Sadly the three heads are just tacked on. That's my main point of contention, they simply do not seem to belong (which may follow the fluff but still looks bad).
This video is meant to show people all the sculpts who might not know, but also to inspire people with stuff I didn't rate highly to be like 'I'll show you!' when they paint.

As someone in the chat said, I feel like Nagash is THE definition of centerpiece model. He is MASSIVE while also looking amazing. They said "we need to make the god of death" and they sure did make that model look like a god.
Insects are a bot of a subtheme in Sylvaneth, the beetle isn't the only bug present, but it's definitely a theme that deserves to be expanded on with some propper buggy units.

How to fix rogue idol in 3 steps: Rotate left leg 90 degrees down (they attach by square peg). Place on one of the sigmar temple stairs scenery pieces (preferably the small one with the locked metal bar gate). Right foot on top, left foot partway down. Place something on it that looks to be attempting to restrain it (I went with vines). Congratulations! You now have a rogue idol in a remotely dynamic pose!

Really disagreed with ratings on the greater Daemons. Bloodthirsters are dope, Lords of Change are pretty close imo in greatness, GUO is very subjective, possibly better but he isn't my style. Keepers drag behind by multiple tiers.
Subjective stuff is the best for tier lists. Arguing with a streamer is more entertaining than them telling you what you already know Also, you neglected the fact that Archaon is in my faction, so he is clearly S tier actually
I wanna build a Fyreslayers army at some point, but until recently I couldn't figure out why I had an aversion to the units on magmadroth, even though I assume they're really good. Then it hit me: the mounts are boring. The sculpts are well detailed, but they're just standing there, the antithesis of dynamic. Also, and this might be more of a me thing, but their legs are way too long. When I think of salamanders I see bodies low to the ground with squat, outward angled legs. The ones in the minis look like big, scaley dogs to me.
For me the Mortarchs are A tier, for some reason the design just clicks with me, especcially Arkhan and Neferata because I'm a sucker for egiptian inspired stuff.

i feel like thats a problem with a lot of the legendary characters in age of sigmar, most of the characters themselves are minute and the mounts are absolutely gorgeous.
3:35 that is literally me 😂 A friend from LGS sent me a photo of new stuff their distributor offered in 2020 and I was like "yup, please order one of those for me" (WH is not really popular where I live, so they don't stock on expensive models and not everything can be ordered since we don't have official WH distributors) I avoided Warhammer before then, partially because none of it looked even remotely attractive and partially because no one around me wanted to be "one of THOSE guys", but then in 2018 I got into MTG and by the time 2020 and peak isolation rolled around I fell out of Magic and was like "yeah, fuck it, I can't become any more isolated by gluing and painting models" 🤡 The only sad part is that since WH is not that popular in general, it's ESPECIALLY not popular among girls so most of my local community is extremely toxic dudebros :^)
