I just realized it has been about 2 months now with ONLY resistance bands as my workout equipment (outside of B-roll for some products). Been great so far and I hope to keep seeing improvements going in this direction. You should review Clench Fitness loop bands. They're the only loop bands the comes with handles (which you seem to prefer) and their handle is quite creative and functional.
Glad to hear u like the bands and have been using them exclusively. Best gains i have made from streaching those oversized orange ruberbands lol. I have no need for weights anymore and i am very fine with that
Got into bands during the pandemic when I didnt have enough home weights, they severed me well till I was able to get more plates and hand weights. Love doing full body work outs in my door still about two dyas a week.
I got the SunPow bands and have been using them for 3 to 4 weeks. I use them at a park/outdoor gym on a pull up bar and captains chair to assist with dips. I got them because I want to get a pull up. I've been doing negatives with them. I have a long way to go, but the important part is that I'm already seeing progress. Originally, I could not pull up at all, even with the bands. I can now pull up a tiny bit with the big band. I can also do dips full range with the red band. I could only do negatives with the band before.
FYI with delta/triangle links, leaving the twist link open compromises the rated strength/weight bearing capabilities of it. Twisting the link fully closed turns it into a fully closed loop triangle.
But these bands over the undersun based on your recommendation three weeks And have been following your 2.0 work out I believe and really enjoying it. As an X weightlifter I can currently say vans are within a few percentage points better or worse than weights. Enjoy your videos.
Great review mate, waiting for this to drop. Had a feeling that UnderSun was going to win but just wanted to make sure as I trust your opinion. Definitely will be using your link when I go to purchase. Keep up the good work!
Regarding that bottom position issue, the gorilla bow's shape would allow for that, plus would be useful if go extra hard. But that shape seems like a disadvantage on curls.
I just don't like that for the Gorilla bow I'm stuck with only their bands. I'd rather find my own that fit my needs and can be used without the bow as a whole.
awesome comparison. but I would say about knowing which band to use. I think for anyone who has trained with bands know how to feel it out. i personally "rack" them rather than put them back in my bag. All the same yes undersun is top notch
Nice, I use the rubber bands they provide and I bought a bigger bag as the ones they give are always small. The rubber bands will break, but easy to replace.
Are you still happy with the quick link? Wondering if you are considering other options. Also are you happy with the 3/8 size or wish you went with the 1/2? It just seems like too much money for two 1/2 quick links.
I own the exact same bar, step, and sunpow bands and personally these things can’t be beat at the price point. Never used undersun but am looking into getting ironwoody bands for a step up in resistance .
Nice! Yeah they are not bad for the price. Pretty minor cons overall. Just once you get to those front squats with a lot of resistance getting into position is tough. Otherwise the other cons aren't too bad.
Great video, thanks for doing it! Are you aware of any quick links that have a spring to pop the bands on and off without having yo screw them each time you want to change a band? Thanks
I'm strongly considering resistance bands and the UnderSun bands definitely look like the better choice. My only "resistance" to buying them is most of these exercises look like there's a lot of shaking/wobbling and I would think it's a very awkward movement. Also, these bands are labeled with a wide range of resistance (e.g. Heavy 40-80, Medium 30-60, etc). How do you know exactly what "weight" you're moving with any of these bands?
You won't know the exact weight as it changes based on how stretched the bands are. This is why I just label a band and try to standardize the exercises to match the same setup. This way I can track appropriately.
I don't have the Sunpow bands but I do have 2 sets of "pull up" assistance bands. I bought these years ago and they are in great shape. I have considered buying the Undersun bands but I have 2 sets of these Pull UP bands and can do everything anyone else can do with the Undersun stuff. To me, just throwing these bands away for a "brand name" set and going all in with Gloves, Bands, Carry Cases etc. with the Undersun name on them is a little pretentious. Maybe when these wear out I will take the dive but for now I don't see the need to switch when both sets can do the same things.
I loop my heaviest US band around a metal picnic table leg, then I put the 2nd or 3 lightest US band through that, and do really good tricep extensions, but the band sort of rub on my shirt in back, which is annoying. I wonder if the shinier bands are less annoying for this? Maybe it's less grippy against fabric?
Thanks! No the bar is a separate company. Both the SunPow and UnderSun (loop resistance bands) are separate, and then the INNSTAR resistance bands bar is its own. I think INNSTAR has some bands, but I have not tested those.
I believe they all snap or wear out eventually, I've been band training since covid started. Lockdown has been extremely long in Ireland so I've been using them 6 times a week and my son uses them too. I've replaced every band bar the xtra heavy and the ultra heavy. One gave me a nasty bruise on my gut but no matter what brand wear and tear is inevitable. I use mine outdoors as well so they'll wear out. But look as gym equipment goes they really aren't expensive
Just try not to stand on them directly on concrete. That will wear them out a bit. You could probably even bring a folded up piece of cardboard for standing on. I bring a sort of accordion-fold yoga mat b/c I do a mix of band and suspension trainer stuff, some on my back. But I'm careful not to stand on the bands on the pavement.
Hmm yeah I wonder if the materials used outdoors have too much friction and are tearing them bit by bit. Sorry to hear about the injury as those hurt a lot! I haven't snapped any big bands yet, only the x-small band. I also only use them about 3 times a week.
Hi there. Great video. I have to go for a 15 days quarantine in a hotel room, where I am not supposed to get out till day 15th. What kind of equipment would you recommend? Innstar with SunPow resistance bands? I have 10 years of lifting experience and I am just looking for an easy way to work out in the room.
I'd go with INNSTAR bar and UnderSun bands of I had to choose. If you can do the platform as well you have the entire setup (with the triangle links to attach the loop bands)
Hey man. I see you use your bands to simulate excersices with weights. What if I am a calisthenics dude and all I want is to add that extra difficult or help on certain moves? I don't want then to simulate excersices with weights.
This bar, at 4:20, would you know where to find a much shorter version, which could be used for handles? That would solve the problem you had with J handles.
I know there are others on Amazon that are shorter, but I have not tested them. I still use the INNSTAR bar to this day, along with the J Hook handles.
@@GamerBody I tend to prefer handles to bars, just as I tend to prefer dumbbells to barbells, to avoid letting my stronger side compensate for the weaker.
How do the two brands compare in terms of max resistance? One might assume SunPow offers more resistance given the difference in width for the largest band, but I'm curious if this is actually the case.
So one of your complaints when it comes to the sunpow bands is technically more resistance? Shouldnt be a complaint even when trying to get in position as you said. Sounds like a pro
I wouldn't call the negative more resistance, but the setup. Since there is more tension in the setup, especially in the front squat, it is difficult to properly set up the squat and increases the risk of doing it wrong causing injury. Smaller con but one nonetheless. It also isn't an issue with all exercises, just the ones where you set up at the shoulder level. Your height can also play a factor as being shorter probably won't cause this problem.
@@GamerBody I prefer real weights but I'll be buying your setup and making my own base for a vacation I'll be going on. Like I said good content. My opinions sometimes come off a little strong.
As long as you use them to get a great enough stimulus. Anything will work, they may not be the most optimal option, but when used correctly will build muscle.
They are both good options, I found I like the UnderSun more especially when setting up the Front Squat or Overhead Press. They have a little more give to get into position as that is probably where an injury can easily happen. The SunPow are a little tougher, but half the cost. Either will be fine from what I have tested :)
It looks dangerous equipments, need be careful to practice with these workout equipments ,should use a plan in every exercise not to use its every day together, it's just my opinion.
I disagree as you most certainly can, but the resistance curve of the band doesn't always match up with the strength curve of a muscle through exercise. It might not be optimal, but bands can definitely build muscle when used appropriately.
@@GamerBody I’m just messing with you man. I know you can. I used TA2 Build program and there were gains. Progressive overload and taking advantage of linear variable resistance is key. A lot of people when using bands make the mistake of not loading the bands in the start position. They always have some slack. I would always have some resistance at the start so when I hit peak contraction the band was almost fully stretched.
