As a black man and a huge thrash fan; watching you guys reaction is highly entertaining. It reminds of how I felt when I first listened to these bands.
I'm a black lady whose been a thrash fan since the 80s-- I had all this stuff on vinyl and cassette. ;-) I hear you about how gratifying it is to watch these reactions. :-)
@@hamsandwhich666 Or Last Year Tragedy. If you never heard of them try them out. They are one of the great African metal bands along with Wrust, who is another good African band.
As a white guy who grew up in the NYC projects back in the day we were so mixed in the 80's and 90's Had white, Spanish, Black, Asian friends all into thrash, hip hop (birth of it too), punk rock, heavy metal etc. Be white kids later on listening to Wu Tang with Black kids rocking out to Nirvana and Green Day playing ball together. Don't even let the American media tell you otherwise and divide us. It was all a great time. I know a Black guy from work. Former Army who loves to ride his motorcycles and blast Soundgarden. Cheers to all. Music is universal. From Run DMC, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Metallica, Maiden etc. list goes on.
You have no idea how satiafiying it is to see you guys actually enjoying and understanding what's up with the instrumental aspect. When I was a kid and in school, rap and hip hop lovers only wanted to dog on me thinking that my music was all a bunch of satanic noise. I feel this channel is justice for all those years of not being understood!
@@corrado I've been watching lots of their reactions. I don't get that impression. When notable parts come up, they seem to acknowledge them pretty similar to how I and others do. That's saying something.
Ignorance unfortunately comes from every corner and every angle....as a kid in high-school 90/94 Ithere were about 2500 students that attended the school maybe more...not really sure since high-school is a blur to me now but my point is alot of people steered away from because of the music I listened to and the way I dressed 😆 the other reason was because of the rough and tumble style of fighting I incorporated when I fought since I was a little guy anyway......long live metal 👍 👍
When I was in school we were called Meatheads but I had a lot of friends variety in my o.g. friends but listen to my music and get into it just like you guys it's nice watching you guys get into this reminds me of the early 90s
The craziest thing about this album, is that it's their first one! They were literally kids when they wrote these songs, like 18 and 19 years old. Unbelievable talents even back then!
One of my favorites by them. That galloping rhythm, the transitions, the solo's, lyrics. Just good stuff! Also, this came out in 1983 at a time when top of the charts was "Every Breath You Take" The Police and "Billie Jean" Michael Jackson. So, this was a big change to what was popular at the time.
And the songs from kill em all, ride the lightning and master of puppets didn't get much air play on any radio stations, even the "rock" stations only played them after midnight. Metallica spread by word of mouth, and became the biggest bang in the world.
I love the sincere reactions from you guys. You're all open minded and absolutely a blast to watch! Reminds me of myself discovering MetallicA during my teenage years, and the joy it brought along. You should start a band! 😉 Jokes aside, big ups from the northern parts of Sweden. One love and keep it up!
it's awesome a couple of you guys caught the sweet home Alabama riff during the bridge, it came from cliff who at the time was driving to a rehearsal with Dave Mustain and cliff who was a big lynyrd Skynyrd fan was listening to sweet home Alabama on the radio and during the rehearsal Dave and cliff were messing around playing the main riff and Lars Ulrich the drummer told them it sounded awesome and it should be in the song not knowing that the riff already exists for another song. so they tweaked it a little and added it in
I had the pleasure of seeing Metallica live with Jason Newstead in the band for the last time a while back now, and they played this-and no word of a lie, the atmosphere was absolutely amazing-as soon as the opening chords sounded the whole crowd went crazy lol. All I saw was hair flayling everywhere with fellow Metalliheads just going crazy, going crazy with those air guitars-it was just such an incredible experience. Classic Metallica will never die, what they did back in those days was amazing.
Man I'm so glad you love this song, it is my favorite Metallica song of all time. You guys should really watch Cliff Burton do his solo live, unfortunately he died in a tragic accident but he was a hell of a bass player. Side note I'm more of a Pantera fan then Megadeth or Metallica, so I would definitely suggest you guys check out Pantera.
@@t7mf Pantera mid is so laughable, Dime is a better guitarist by himself than James and Kirk, Vinny is so much better than Lars.. Ill give Cliff over Rex, but Phil has a better metal voice in my opinion. Metallica is GOAT but dont disrespect Pantera.
Megadeath is technically harder to play, like harder hand positioning, faster.. but there is something about the harmonizing of lead and solo guitars in Metallica that just HITS different!!
7:52 story is that lars (the drummer) wanted a slower section in the song, and dave mustaine jokingly played the sweet home alabama riff. Upon hearing it, lars insisted they have something similar in their song and they made a variation of the riff for the four horsemen
Don't know if it has been mentioned here in the comments but ... the acoustic part in middle that you guys said remembered you of Sweet Home Alabama. Dave Mustine has said that Lars (The Drummer) want an interlude in the song so he just took that part from Sweet Home Alabama and used here in The Four Horsemen.
Watching you guys react to your first listen of these Metallica songs is reminds me how blown away I was as a kid by these guys, and this was their first album! Like I mentioned in the last video, I eventually started saving up my change and bought more of their albums and start branching out and buying those of bands that either were their peers, or influencers of them. There are many “better” more technical bands, but Metallica is always gonna be top 5 for me just because of how they helped guide a 10 year old kid in his journey of music discovery for decades to come.
From a purely guitar stand point, Megadeth has moments of some of the best written material in the genre (Rust in Peace in particular). Tornado of Souls may have one of the greatest thrash guitar solos of all time. Marty Friedman’s playing is an inspiration
@@johnwheeler9186 I made no mention as to which was better. That’s up to the listener. Megadeth was brought up in the video, and I recommended a song. That’s all.
I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you showed this song! It's my favorite Metallica song! And yes, they were so young when they wrote it, yet the lyrics and music flow tremendously well. Back in the early 80's, listening to these bands was almost taboo in the music industry. Metallica liked it that way then... they didn't sell out until the Black album (when most of the popular world discovered them and gave them a chance). Prior to then, you had to be in the "metalhead/satanic" crowd to know about them. This song is a gem... the rhythm equates to galloping horses. Too bad the radio never plays these songs in 2023; otherwise, I know a lot of the younger generations would request them after being exposed. Think about it.... this music was not easy to make, play and incorporate lyrics. These guys did it.. halfway hammered, yet they made it to the top. Great job guys! Glad to see you're appreciating good music! And yes, the 4 guitar riffs represented the 4 Horsemen (awesome analogy!)
@@scottpressman4744 I’m all for it too, don’t get me wrong..I just think if they like them so much, they’ll definitely like others…not Slipknot tho, unfortunately😭😂
When you start to react to metallica live, it will blow your mind. Seattle 1989 whole concert, Moscow 1991.... you can react to anything of these concerts. Its even more insane than the studio versions, espacially the four horsemen live version from Seattle 1989!
In High School (late 80s for me) my best friend and I played football together - before ever game i put the cassette of this album in my walkman, we had a headphone splitter, so we both could listen - and we listened to this song, Whiplash, and MotorBreath from that album to fire us up before each and every game! You boys are such a fun exciting way to enjoy music of my youth. Also - love what you're doing looking at the meanings of stuff and learning a thing or two. Most great metal music is deep and profound. Same as great hip-hop, especially older classic metal and hip-hop.
BEEN LISTENING TO METALLICA SINCE 86....When he said.."part sounds like sweet home alabama"...I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT...BUT HE IS RIGHT!!!....GREAT EAR MAN!!!!!!
"Creeping Death" live in Moscow and "Fight Fire with Fire" live at Hammerfest 1985. Come on fellas. 😎 Also, "Battery" live in Seattle '89 (they play it faster than the studio version). You'll thank me later. 😁 🤘 Even if you don't "react" to them you should watch regardless.
Tornado of Souls, Wake Up Dead, Hangar 18, Take no Prisoners, Ashes in Your Mouth, Architecture of Aggression, Lucretia, Hook in Mouth... So many good Megadeth tracks man
I agree I love those tracks. Call 502. Both bands have great music it was better that dave left. Kept Thrash alive. SEPULTURA with Max Calvera live in Barcelona.
This is one of their most popular songs and always played at their live shows. I recommend whiplash from this album. It’s pretty much about being at a show and going crazy in a good way
Certified bangerz y’all will love by Metallica no particular order just MUST LISTENS by them 1. Fuel 2. King Nothing 3. The Day That Never Comes 4. Hardwired 5. Atlas, Rise! 6. Until It Sleeps 7. Wherever I May Roam 8. The Memory Remains
Sitting here watching you guys rocking out on this song really takes me back to the early '80's when me and my buddies would sit around in the barracks jamming out in Hawaii when I was a young soldier. Really like your videos, keep at it guys!
Megadeth is a badass band too !! But I remember first listening to this band for the first time and man I knew I had to get a guitar after listening to these guys
Yes Dave Mustaine actually provided the majority of the gear and instruments to get started. He was considered to be out of control by managers and the other members were forced to kick him out of the band. Megadeth is very solid as a band. It's like comparing Peyton Manning to Tom Brady. One has more hardware than the other but both were leaders in thrash genre. Metallica would be short a few of their best cuts if not for Mustaine so he has to get credit since it's due!
@johnpsy4129 I'm actually a huge Metallica fan. Mustaine has his place in metal, and he certainly has some great lyrics and music to support a warranted spot in metal. There's an old Metallica video maybe Cliff 'em All where Ulrich tells the entire story of how the band formed. Ulrich is my source and I don't think he'd have reason to fabricate their beginning especially crediting a huge part of their beginning successes to Mustaine. Great video obviously its Metallica. Do watch sometime and you'll enjoy! I've been into Metallica since late 80s and have always regarded them as the best band of metal! No other band has stood the test of time even through turmoil as they have. Also, I'm not a queer so I don't suck dong!
4 Horseman of the Apocolypse was the very first silent movie to make a million dollars in the mid 20s the great Rudolph Valentino was the star. An extroidinarily well done movie for its time. Not a heavy metal fan but if your into this kind of music I guess this is what you'd listen to.
Im from that time of music. Let me know and I would be honored to let you guys know all about the great music from the 80s!! This is a crazy song with the Megadeth and Metallica war. It was a great time to be alive fellas!!! Yall are great!!! Im just an old school guy. I would love to go over today and yesterdays music with you fellas!! Great Job Guys!!!!!!
@@theabsolute23 I know Ron. I thought maybe spell check made it John. It didn't just now, so I guess, in my haste to correct someone else, I should have slowed down and done it wright!
Us long time metal fans love watching you discover and enjoy it. Incredible content. Four horsemen on their debut album still holds up as an all time great Metallica song. Ride The Lightning is what I’d recommend next.
Metallica is my favorite thrash Metal band of all time. A buddy of mine turned me onto them back in the 80's when I was still in high school. Unfortunately my parents wouldn't let me go to concerts so I never got to see them live.
The tune that brought me into the fold back in the early eighties! Killer guitar riff! Now…. you gotta check out ‘Peace Sells’ by Megadeth! Full roar!!!
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - Behold the Pale Horse for the one who rides upon him is Death. This has always been my favorite Metallica song!!!
im curious have any of you guys ever gone to see metallica? they are touring in 2023 so if you never seen them get yourselfs some tickets and enjoy them live. you will not be disappointed~!!!!!!!!!
Now you're cooking with fire. I saw Metallica on this tour in '83, then again in '88 at the Monsters of Rock concert. If you want to see how all this incredible music was made possible you should watch the documentary Standing in the Shadows of Motown. It's the story of the Funk Brothers, the band behind the Motown sound. It's one of the greatest tributes to music ever. Joe Hunter alone is amazing.
I once had a roommate who ONLY listened to R&B. He insisted he would not listen or be open to listening to bands like Metallica. Then he moved in with me. He had no choice. Over a period of a month he kept walking in from work and I would have my OG Metallica records spinning. Finally, one day in the car he says put on Metallica I want to hear that and see what’s what. So I did. Within a week he was a huge metal fan. All the sudden I see him walk in with a bag of CD’s and they are all Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and so on. I was stunned. He said man I’ve been missing out all these years this music is freakn awesome. I appreciate music in general but there is something about metal and Metallica that just evokes emotions like nothing else.
Wow. I know that I have heard this song at least one hundred times, and I haven’t heard it in more years, till today, than all of you have been alive. I’m sooooo old!
My all time favorite Metallica song. This one always really got me hyped. Especially that divebomb followed by the galloping riff. The hardest songs that I can play (rhythm) are this one, "Creeping Death," and "Holy Wars."
Best Metallica song...ONE. the guitar riffs r amazing...the remastered version...the video was from a movie...I think Johnny's Got His Gun...powerful. probably one of my favorites
Pretty good song, but I think you'll really connect with some of their later stuff like Wherever I May Roam. Have you reacted to it yet? If not, we'd enjoy watching your reactions.
