I wasn’t sure about committing to a Midori Traveler’s notebook. I loved the idea of a flexible system of a traveler's notebook but I wasn’t sold on the price. I thought why not try out a cheaper version, a Fauxdori, and see how I got on with that. So with that in mind I purchased a September Leather Traveler's notebook from Amazon. The size is slightly bigger than passport but that was one of the reasons I purchased it. I didn’t want to just use Midori inserts. There are lots of other inserts available and the September Leather Traveler's notebook would seem to be able to accommodate many. I thought I would try a Moleskine cashier book, which is bigger than the Midori Inserts. I also purchased some Midori inserts to try those for size. I will have to mix and match these to see whether the size difference is a problem when writing in the Traveler's Notebook. I haven't tried Field notes but I may give them a go as they look like a good sturdy reliable notebook.

Camera Stuff and Things
I tend to shoot these videos on my own. I'm fortunate that I have a small production company so I have reasonable access to equipment. But as is said: the best camera is the one you have with you. I also use mobile phones if that is what I have available. A great help when shooting on your own is a decent monitor and especially if you don't have a rotatable screen.
I use the Blackmagic Video Assist 4K which is also a recorder. Check the price on Amazon But look around you and see what offers Blackmagic have on their newer monitors. There are great deals to be had at the right time.
I find the Canon EOS C100s perfect in form for these type of videos as they have easily accessible menus, scopes, good quality video, external xlr inputs, and best of all I like them. Amazon stock them but shop around there are great bargains around.
When I'm doing these type of videos I use the Canon 18 -135. It has image stabilization and works really well, reasonably priced and versatile. Keep an eye on Amazon for a good price.
The sound was recorded on a Rode NTG 3 microphone.
It isn't a cheap mic. If you're on a budget shop around as there are some great mics out there. I like Rode products and use their mini mics on my run and gun productions. I also use their Iphone mic which works really well. They're worth keeping in your bag as you never know when they'll come in
Other Bits and Other Things The Opinel Knife has been around a while and I've had mine for a good few years as you can tell by the scaring.
As I mention in the video: please be aware that Opinel is a lock knife and as such may be subject to certain legislation in your country irrespective of blade length. Best to check or get the non locking version.
