For six years, we had a plastic string in our GE refrigerator water dispenser. However, when we had to replace the freezer thermostat two days ago because of a defrost problem, the water started dispensing like new again. It has been two days since the replacement, and the water is still flowing well. I wanted to share this experience so that others can also consider this option for their refrigerator.
Yeah I mean it's a little bit hack but I tell you what, best upgrade ever! Still going strong and I actually prefer it way more than having to sit there holding a cup to fill the water. I just flip the valve, do whatever else I have to do and then my cup is full.
The counter top nozzle was cool. Easier for filling up a larger jug. Now If you could modify the ice maker to make it easier to fill a larger jug would be nice.
Yes definitely need some thread sealant or Teflon tape or just use some RTV and that would work well as thread sealant also. Make sure not to over tighten
tape a piece of insulation or Styrofoam to the inside of the freezer compartment just below the ice shut. I used Styrofoam and within an hour water was back and after 3 months all is working fine. NO MORE FROZEN LINE
Why would you not just filter your tap water from the sink then? The only refrigerated water this sution provides is the tiny amount thats in your refrigerators water filter
Purchased Styrofoam panels($8) at Lowes that fit perfectly in the freezer with the door open. Fastest fix. Would never have thought of this without the video.
