#1 suspension mod to a 4th gen F body should be subframe connectors and bigger sway bars. Just stiffening everything up underneath makes a huge difference even before touching shocks
@LSxMotorsports2021
@LSxMotorsports2021 Год назад
You are absolutely right.As far as shocks verses sway bars this video is 1/4 mile biased so that's why I mentioned adjustable shocks.Thanks for commenting we like to get everyone's opinions and experiences with modifing these cars.
@GoCeltics734

@LSx Motorsports ah gotcha. Then instead of sway bars, get a stiffer panhard bar. Car will stick a lot better at launch

I am sure there are also guys watching this that are also interested in good handling so you're first comment is on the money.Sway bar upgrade can really help cornering and subframe connectors help both handling and traction.And yes upgrading the panhard bar is also good for both.

This. I ended up doing full UMI setup and Viking Coil Overs. Car hooks way better and handles like a race car. My 98 has 178k miles on everything and is very fast with just the suspension, free air mod cat back and tune. Will be doing rear end and trans next then motor.

A decent cam, 243 heads and an LS6 intake coupled with the standard bolt ons to this day is still a fine budget N/A street combo. If you can hook that up consistently you'll surprise more than a few people light to light.

Solid advice! I'm on my 3rd 4th gen now, I've done most of the things you talked about. First mods were slp airlid and loudmouth exhaust, then Kooks long tubes. Then I installed a Tick stage 2 street heat cam and had my 243's ported. With a tune it made 431hp and 398lb ft of torque. One other mod I would definitely recommend (especially for t-top cars) is weld in sub frame connectors. Along with a strut tower brace it's like night and day as far as chassis flex is concerned.

I did a street daily driver budget build on my 99 trans am im at sea level in south texas, any ways stock car ran a 13.99@100mph was a 2.73gear car, already had ram air box and exhaust cut out before the axcel. Added 3.23 gears dropped to 13.6, added a circle d 3200 budget torque converter was an 11in basically modified tbss and dropped to 13.3. Then added cam and long tube headers with tune and dropped to 12.67 cam was a comp xer 224/230 .581/.588 on a 114 lsa car drove like stock and could barely hear the cam, then added ls6 intake and dropped to 12.47 then added 799 heads and dropped to 12.20@112 never retuned it for the other mods this was my daily driver until i bought a 5th gen camaro then i went more serious in the car and im running 11.17@119 now with bigger cam and a 4k stall and 3.73 tbss truck intake and 95mm throtle body and suspension work. Oh and dont buy yank torque converters I recently had a bad experience very bad customer service if you are looking for a torque converter go circle D you wont regret it

I would figure out your goal for the car. If you just want a little more guts, don't do much to it.... Exhaust, intake maybe, lid, underdrive pulley and a tune and enjoy what little refinement they have. There is a trade off ...more power less refinement and driveability. Manual Cut-Outs are cheap and make power or Electric, but they are expensive but cooler.

Yes your right,I left that out by accident.I should be writing things down before doing videos but I never do I always wing it.But I absolutely agree.I actually recommend a cooler even with the stock converter if your doing alot of 1/4 mile runs.I plan to do a converter this next coming summer and was looking at coolers with a thermostatic controlled fan which I plan to install in the area where the fog lights are.Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

@LSxMotorsports2021
@LSxMotorsports2021 7 месяцев назад
Well that's a good question.Some people say yes and many say no.My opinion is on a 4th gen or older camaro yes it is still worth it if you have no other choice.On the 5th gen and especially the 6th Gen I would say no because the exhaust manifolds are really good on the newer cars.The power gain will definitely be less but seeing that you are limited on what modifications you can make they will still add a little power.

@LSxMotorsports2021
@LSxMotorsports2021 2 года назад
The throttle plate or butterfly sits in the middle of the throttle shaft with half the throttle shafts covering the front and the other half coving the back.I cut the front part of the shaft off so it just has the back part of the shaft holding the throttle plate.I don't know if I explained that too well but it is a waste of time anyways I think.I never noticed any improvement with that or the porting of the throttle body.But it was free so I did it.

Finding and swapping a T56 out of C5 Z06 wouldn't even be worth the time and money vs a "regular" t56, the lower ratios in the trans compared to a 4th Gen T56s are minimal. You have to convert the tail housing on any C5 T56 to work with a 4th Gen. Waste of time.

How do I tune OBD1?
@LSxMotorsports2021
@LSxMotorsports2021 Год назад
That's a good question.We are actually trying to figure that out ourselves because the 1994 Camaro Z28 that has appeared on the channel is going to need some tuning next summer because the owner is interested in doing a cam for his car.From what I can tell there is a program called LT1 edit and another called Tuner cat.We are going to dig up whatever info we can to see what's the best option.But it could be awhile before we feature anything on this channel.So my advice to you would be to contact someone who has experience tuning these cars.One example would be PCM for less.I had this guy do a little tuning for me about 20 years ago and I see he is still on the Internet.Wish I could be of more help but tuning is very new to me also.

This is true but finding an LS2 is the problem. They are not that common in salvage yards and I don't think GM sells them anymore and it they did it would be hugely expensive. At that cost you may as well buy a stroker motor. This channel is about getting the most out of what you already have as cheaply as possible. Of course there is nothing cheap about modifying cars but it's usually done over several years. If cost wasn't an issue then a stroker motor or an LS3 would be the way to go.

Couple times I only got only4-5 hard launches on sticky tires before they howl. $200 a pop at the junk yard! Till last few years they have gotten scarce for that price. So I did a 31spline 8.8. with 3.73s out a explorer paired with my t-56 out of a GTO that has the 2.92 zo6 gears and triple coned synchro's. Tranny shifts like butter over 7k but I don't like the low gearing with a stick car. it's almost as bad when I had 4.10s I only gained 3 10ths of a second vs 3.42s and lost half gas milage.243s are good but overrated!
