How To Remove A Engine From A 98-02 Trans Am/Camaro

In this weeks video I will go over the main steps to remove the engine out of a F-body at home with no lift. This isn’t a complete step by step but if you are handy and like to figure things out this should get you going in the right direction for sure. Is it not easier to pull it out the top instead.I have helped my brother in law pull his and it seems to me easier.Are we the only people that has done it that way.Just kind of wondering since I have purchased an 02 TA

Are all the torque specs and stuff I'm the service manual for all the bolts you removed? How was the install?

I don’t actually have a service manual to answer that question but I would say probably not. And it wasn’t too bad to install really I think the hardest part for me was holding back the struts by myself to help them clear the strut towers. Honestly I was taught to take motors out from the top but it truly is easier on this car coming out the bottom and it’s really not that bad.

Good video…thanks! That slave cylinder line has always had me concerned. I think there is a tool specifically made for that, but with my luck, it probably wouldn’t work lol.

Thanks I had a fuel line specialty tool that fit on it and would push the plastic retainer clip in as far as it needed. Although it wouldn’t come out for me but I haven’t researched the proper tool for this specific line. It would probably be worth looking for though. It wasn’t any fun either way.

for anyone wondering. it is possible to pull the engine through the top. i just did it on my 98 transam

How bad was it? And did you pull the trans with it?

@@billjr971 having the trans in the car makes it a little harder but still very possible (with a 4l60e) i have done both ways. Only thing annoying is the cowling above the engine gets a little in the way but its no big deal

@@nicholasvanhorn1099 gotcha I’m trying to pull my engine to do a full gasket kit. I was thinking pull trans, everything off the front of the engine (radiator, fans, accessories etc) and pulling it from the top

@@billjr971 right on, i pulled my intake off and used a ls plate that bolts to where the valley plate is, it makes it alot easier
