What do you guys think about this setup on the Rubicon, best option to escape a zombie apocalypse? 🧟‍♂ I'd give it a solid 9 out of 10 for helping you get away from them. Why not a 10? You always need a winch even if you are a tame rider. You slip in some ruts before you know it your sideways in a mud pit. I also carry a small land anchor it has paid for itself 👍

Same here! I'd like to see it ram through a few things and see how strongly made it is though, no pun intended 😆 . I've seen tons of people running them for years though and no real complaints so they're definitely doing something right over there at Strong Made!

Hello kevin, im really curious, how much mpg will atvs give with road tyres and if ridden only on roads and highways? I like touring and was thinking if atvs were better than motorcycle, so that i could carry my luggages easily and not worry dropping and stuck in muds etc.. Thanks

Im more into how it works than how it looks... I'd run the same wheels you have with 30x9 zillas front and rear, they're lighter and smoother while still being about the same in mud. I'd remove the lift, it's too much angle for the rear axles they will break if you get rash and it makes the ride very rough. You can run 30's with no lift, they dont hit a thing. I'd put the winch in the normal stock position and ditch that big heavy front bumper. The stock bumper works great and doesnt weigh a ton. With 28 or 30 inch zillas, a winch and a snorkel your rubicon will be very good in mud and still trail ride very well.

Every pro has a con. I have that same bumper. Here is my reason. I got tired of every month having to pull the winch out to properly clean it then every 6 months have some bearing or seal fail and every year having to replace the cable as it would become rusty so I opted for that same style bumper. Now I can easily rinse it clean and haven’t had to replace anything else on the winch. Another pro is you don’t have to reach way down in the water or mud to get to the winch. To offset the weight of it, i placed a basket ball where the radiator was to give me floatation that the added weight took away. It does take a little bit to get the pressure correct though. Another con to that bumper is it is way more front heavy when jumping stuff so you’ll have to be mindful of it. I wish someone would come out with a lighter smaller winch bumper but oh well. I understand your point also. Like mentioned every pro has a con.

@@ashleywynn4923 My winch cable is hooked to the rack, I dont reach down in the mud for it, that's silly, you only get stuck up against a bank unable to use your winch once before you learn that trick lol. I have a 2500lbs kfi winch, it's not hard to hose the mud off it at all. The bigger ones might cause issues as they barely fit.

Different bumper set up and did they think for where to hook a winch to the rear to pull out out, steep angles on the driveline so wonder how long it will hold up spinning 50+ pounds on each wheel in the mud. Cheers

You know what's funny, in my 15 years of selling Honda ATVs... I never once had a customer inquire about installing a winch for the rear lol! I don't think your average riders give it much thought at all but there's no denying it can definitely save your butt. Thankfully the driveline isn't dealing with a lot of horsepower / torque on top of that weight so they usually fare pretty well. Keyword there is "usually" lol ;)

Respect your opinion.I have a rubicon 520 and I’ve seen several competitor machines stay behind when we go mudding… And yes, i love love Can Ams which i have in my list for my next purchase but i love my Rubi!
